- Seeking shelter for a blizzard in a Sicilian cave, troubadour Gedeone and his assistant Almerina face an old bear, whom they distract by enacting the story of the bear king Leonzio. His happiness was shattered when his beloved son Tonio fell in the river and was abducted from the forest by people. The king mobilized his feral army to search and confront the reigning grand duke, whose human army is easily defeated and chased. The prince resorts to professor De Ambrosis, who uses ruses and magic, but still can't stop the bears from prevailing in every confrontation and installing Leonzio as king of Sicily. The cave bear however replies that's only part of the story. Tonio was found in the circus and shot by the ruler before Leonzio was enthroned, who turned grim, estranging even Tonio, who led a revolt after De Ambrosio was unfairly jailed as the king listens only to his ambitious, evil bear councilor Salnitro, who plots to seize the throne, but it's his turn to be outsmarted.—KGF Vissers
