- A series of murders brings ACP Ashwini Dixit (Kay Kay Menon) and his junior colleague, Sub-Inspector Ankit Dayal (Sharib Hashmi) to the club Vodka Diaries in Manali. Three carefree and flirtatious young men are murdered on the same night in the presence of three mysterious women. Meghna Shashtri (Namya Saxena) was found murdered in her home and had a VIP pass to Vodka Diaries for that evening. Meghna was supposed to be going with Vivek Rajput (Rishi Bhutani). That night Vivek goes to the club alone and meets Roshni Banerjee (Raima Sen). Sam (Mohommed Ali Shah) is Roshni's friend. Sera (Swati Rajput) and Ronny (Herry Tangiri) had rented a room at the hotel for that night. Kavya (Antara Srivastava) and Nikhil (Rahul Kapoor) are also at the hotel that night. Vivek leaves with Roshni, just as Ashwini and Ankit arrive at the club. Kavya is heartbroken when she sees Nikhil kissing another girl, while Ronny is eyeing another girl the whole night. Roshni returns to the club alone. Ashwini and Ankit leave when they find no clues on Vivek.
The next morning, Vivek's body is found hanging upside down in the woods, and his car parked nearby. Ronny is found dead in his room at the hotel. Sera claims that Ronny broke up their relationship the previous night. She claims that the girl Ronny hooked up with, killed him. Nikhil's body is found in the snow in the hotel grounds.
Vodka Diaries seems to be the center of the mystery. Hotel Manager (Sooraj Thapar) and Receptionist (Dipoo Srivastava) are subjects of investigation as well. As the investigation deepens, his wife Shikha (Mandira Bedi), a poet, goes missing. Ashwini tries to unravel the reason behind her disappearance.
However, it is later shown that the victims are alive and well, and no one whom Ashwini had met earlier is now able to recognize him. Ashwini goes to the Vodka Diaries hotel and finds that the hotel is open for business and the manager does not recognize him. Ashwini barges into Sera's room and she doesn't recognize him either. Ronny is alive. As he is driving around town, Ashwini finds Meghna is alive as well and is with Vivek. This puts the detective on a chase, with everyone he knows failing to recognize him or anything that he talks about, and a pursuit of his wife and the killer with anonymous calls (seemingly from Roshni) and apparent clues appearing to him time and again. The police also do not recognize Ashwini and try to arrest him, but he escapes. Ashwini goes back to his house and spends the night there. The next morning Ankit comes there and says that it is his home, and he also does not recognize Ashwini.
Ashwini is lost and cannot understand who he is and what is happening to him. He finds an address in his coat and heads there. This seems to be his own house, but Ashwini finds that he is being watched. He catches the person watching him, but falls faint. Towards the end, it is revealed that Ashwini's real name is Rishi Gautam, a famous writer. On the day of release of his new book, "Redemption of the Murderer", Gautam had quarreled with his wife Shikha, when he saw her with another man named Mayuk (Vikram Sakhalkar). In a fit of rage over her allegations of not spending quality time with her and wrongly suspecting her of infidelity, Gautam had accidentally killed Shikha by throwing a glass bottle at her.
He was traumatized and was diagnosed with intensive obsessive identification disorder by psychiatrist Roshni (Raima Sen). Gautam began to hallucinate, believing he was the main protagonist detective of his book, Ashwini Dixit and thinking that Shikha is alive and with him.
To treat him effectively, Roshni recreated the entire plot of his novel "Redemption of the Murderer", with the intention of getting Gautam to play the role of Ashwini in his book, with actors around him playing along with him and pretending to be characters of his book, but ultimately leading 'Ashwini' to discover the identity of Gautam Rishi for himself. Eventually Gautam is acquitted by court as Mayuk testifies that the former's act was accidental and not intentional.
In the end, Gautam (alias Ashwini) continues to live and work as a writer in a secluded cottage, with hallucinations of Shikha.
