I really enjoyed fairy knowledge, it was the last short. It is the only one I feel okay to recommend

Weak

Warning: Spoilers
Accidentally stumbled upon this film after looking for "The Void" by Steven Kostanski and Jeremy Gillespie. Watched the whole thing and I won't be checking out volume 2. Doesn't seem like there wasn't much thought put into this anthology. Starts off very confusing with some not great stories.

First short is about a British gentleman wandering through creepy imagery. Bleh... The second one is about a dude with his heart on the right side of his chest. The dude avoided an assassination attempt because of his heart condition. The whole thing was very strange and not a great concept. I believe after that there was a comedy short with a kid and a ghost. Completely Atrocious! Effects that looked like they were made by a Youtuber from 2010. The time machine short comes across like the beginning of a movie, but it's made very well so that was fine. The suicide app short, the social media short, the short with the two kids, and the fairy short are all fine.

Five stars for the five good shorts, the first three get no stars. I don't understand how hard it is for a distributor to package together an hour and a half of good content. They should also match each other thematically in some way. Oh well!

Uniformly poor

Warning: Spoilers
THE VOID is another poor collection of short indie horror films which has been roughly stitched together and released as a whole in a bid to make some cash. I wish they hadn't bothered. Most of the short films collected here are completely useless, failing in the basic ways: bad acting, barely thought-out plotting, lame scripting. They appear to have been made by students. The one thing they all have in common is that they feature one single male character either talking to or being filmed by a single static camera in a single room.

Only watched half

Apple TV mistakenly took me to this instead of the 2017 movie of the same name. I didn't realize this for the first half and was waiting for the "lovecratian" content. The production value is good, however the acting is either so dry or severely cranked up. Interestingly enough if I would have stumbled across these on YouTube I would probably have gone into the experience with the mentality of "indie, short film, film student" and enjoyed it a fraction more.

AVOID this film.

A handful of student films. Need I say more.

Most were painfully slow paced, poorly acted and depressing. It doesn't get interesting till 50 minutes in. The last one was the best, and funny, but still weak. And only 5 minutes. You will regret wading through the others to get to it. The description says "some of the best award winning short films". That has got to be BS. Not a single award in the bunch.

Who's Richard

Warning: Spoilers
This is an anthology of 8 shorts in 86 minutes (You do the math.) Some are certainly shorter than others, and in fact I found the shorter the film, the more entertaining it was, such as the fairy story at the end or the wrong house, or status change. The opening feature was surreal, but I failed to see the point. The time travel tale ended when it was just started to get entertaining. Carrier Crow was interesting, but not well done. The second segment, an oriental production, I had no idea what it as about and was completely bored. Rajesh Naroth gave us a cute clip with "Status Change" which allowed your imagination to run wild with a bit that lasted about 30 seconds.

With the longer clips being less entertaining than the shorter ones, I can see why this would be a turn off for viewers. Most of the films lacked color. One segment has child abuse in it and another segment is about on line suicides.

Guide: F-word. No sex. Brief nudity.
