Good movie but a cliché!
santoshambekar194 November 2017
Bhoomi is really a good movie to watch but ends up predominantly as a cliché. Amongst the very new title such as Mom(2017), Bhoomi is centered shrine a girl who gets brutally manhandled by people. The father and daughter duo then takes the revenge and touch upon many social issues today's girls in India are facing! The story is quite predictable but the acting is good. Sanjay Dutt after long time had made his re entry into films and quite faithfully ran his character.. The movie will make you emotional, rage you up against the violence against woman. Good watch for one time!

Bhoomi has its heart in the right place but the movie gets weighed down under the twin burdens of clichés and melodrama
tlrg-legend22 September 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Omung Kumar who made the impressive Mary Kom and the patchy Sarbjit comes back with the serious subject of rape with Bhoomi. It is also Sanjay Dutt's comeback movie.

On the eve of her wedding, Bhoomi is raped by a spurned suitor and his gangster friends. Her fiancé abandons her and her fight for justice leads to her humiliation in court. Disgusted by this, her father and she withdraw the court case and try to go back to a normal life but are unable to thanks to the constant taunts by society. Finally, the father daughter duo decides to take matters into their own hands and mete out justice in the way they deem fit.

Rape is a subject which needs to be dealt with carefully. The story must be hard hitting for the message to reach all audiences but it must do so with empathy and a sensitivity that should make our blood boil and heart ache without resorting to melodrama.

Bhoomi has its heart in the right place but the movie gets weighed down under the twin burdens of clichés and melodrama.

The court scenes use all the words that make you see red- the female lawyer who is defending the accused asks her if she was a virgin before the rape and calls her characterless. The goons look cocky and unfazed just like in Pink and the father daughter pair cower and look pathetic.

This would have worked better if the dialogues had been stronger instead of sounding so bombastic and seeming like a platform for Sanjay Dutt to perform. You need drama to make an impact but resorting to the same old bag of tricks doesn't quite cut it.

There are a couple of songs which are totally unnecessary, especially a pretty disgusting item number post interval. Surely, we need to get rid of these by now and use other means of showing debauchery?

The movie is very sluggishly paced. You must realise that when you have four men to dispose of you need time to do it well. You can't waste most of the movie on other stuff and move to the main action in the last part of the movie. By then the audience is bound to lose patience like I did and wait for it to end.

The retribution when it comes is also heavily ridden by clichés of Devi Shakti etc. Omang Kumar's expertise in production design comes through very clearly in a few visually beautiful scenes but there isn't enough to lift it out of the banal and mud of emotion in which it seems to be tethered.

Aditi Rao Hydari has a delicate look and feel about her which works well for her character. However, she doesn't seem to bring out the strong parts that well, and remains meek and submissive even in the latter half of the movie where she decides to turn the tables and avenge her rape . She also seems to be a mismatch for the Agra milieu. She is the daughter of a shoe shop person living in old Agra and is a beautician. Her clothes are too designer and she looks completely out of place with her very simple looking neighbours. She also inexplicably has a stutter which has been put there I guess only for the purpose of one dialogue in the whole movie.

Sanjay Dutt sinks his teeth into this role and seems to relish the melodrama sequences. His rheumy baggy eyes are swimming with tears for most of the movie. It is only towards the end when he gets into the action scenes does he show some spunk. But he is special and he gets plenty of screen time for his fans to appreciate his histrionics.

Overall, this movie is too melodramatic, too clichéd and too slow for it to work for me. The dialogues are trite and don't offer anything new and the treatment is very 70s and feels dated. For example, the whole piece about covering her up with a dupatta is so outdated and buys into the same cliché of covering up that it wants to bust.

Maybe we as a country need the message hammered into our heads about rape. Today in fact I read about a High court ruling that blamed the victim for her mind set and said since she was used to adventurism and experimentation in sexual encounters she basically brought this on herself. The Court further said the sentences should be suspended so that the accused could get a chance to lead a normal life!

I had expected a more nuanced movie from Omung Kumar. However, when we can have such judgements being delivered we perhaps deserve a movie which hits its message on our heads with a sledgehammer. See it if you are a Sanjay Dutt fan and a yearning for an old style drama.

Wtach it for Dutt!!
hellofrompramod27 September 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Regarding "Bhoomi" , I first thought to write about the movie , but Sanjay Dutt has overpowered me. The lion, the star, the actor is back and what a performance. His larger than life aura has magnified and the actor in him is back with the same conviction. Baba is outstanding , the style, the charisma is now on the screens again to make you go into the same hysteria.

Rape is disturbing and I hope the filmmakers should be sensible in portraying it on screen. This year movies like " Kaabil" and "Mom" have handled it very sensibly but here we see the execution going clichéd and stereotypic. There is no wrong in presenting things in raw and brutal way but a few things should better be presented in a subtle manner rather than screaming loud. The agony and pain should be made understood and felt rather than showing it. The movie hits hard on few issues but overall the treatment is the same old and to some extent does not match the way bollywood is evolving. Aditi is good, Shekhar Suman is fine but Sharad Kelkar as the stereotypical villain of the 80s is too loud and overdramatic. Sanjay Dutt however rises above the script and keeps you engrossed throughout.

Watch it for Dutt!!

I'll Have Fire Instead. ♦ Grade D+
nairtejas23 September 2017
There's a scene towards the end where a person falls in a stepwell and drowns. The person is unable to bob and bring himself up because the surface of the water is covered with long pieces of cloth. It is just one of the many things that director Omung Kumar gets wrong in his third feature film, Bhoomi, a flawed revenge drama that is a collection of all revenge dramas that we have seen in Bollywood this year so far.

The first five seconds are enough to gauge what the film has in store for us, which uses a tried-and-tested formula to drive the hackneyed story ahead. In his first film post the completion of his incarceration, Sanjay Dutt tries to exonerate himself by playing, rather decently, a protecting father figure. He is Arun, a footwear dealer, who finds his world turned upside down after his daughter Bhoomi (Aditi Rao Hydari) is gang-raped on the eve of her wedding. Unable to share his sadness over her motherless daughter's fateful plight and the anger over police apathy and insensitivity, shortcomings of the judicial system, and helplessness as an ordinary man, Arun tries to go the vengeance route and takes the law into his own hands.

It all sounds great on paper, but when Kumar, with writer Raaj Shaandilyaa, project it on screen, it does not look exactly convincing. Plagued by homegrown and narrow generality that "all men are dogs" is introduced right in the beginning. A lustful loverboy enjoys gulping down a leftover piece of food previously tasted by Bhoomi because it gives him the gratification of having touched the same item that once touched the lips of the woman that he failed to court. The expansion of this arc is what the rest of the film is about, which is all right as far as cinema is concerned. What is not right is a lack of characters that are neutral. Every man in the film is either a rapist (or a lustful guy who does not mind opening his fly in front of any woman) or Bhoomi's relative.

There are more issues in this film than there are good bits. For starters, some of the songs are totally unnecessary and unbelievably timed. A father is crying his heart out because he couldn't protect his daughter, and in the next scene, Sunny Leone wants me to feel trippy. Who prepared the demographic data for the makers? The police, that are inconsiderate at first, suddenly seem to be helping, or even abetting, Arun in his self-righteous deed that is later described as a universal solution (for the issue) by the same character in the epilogue. The villains look intelligent at first but then lose control of their own sanity and do dumb things. They are epitomes of banality that make the whole drama look unnecessary and a waste of time. We all know that courtroom sequences in Bollywood films are a joke, and this one here uses those same films as inspiration. The question about this film's existence, therefore, has to definitely come up.

This is a serious and violent film which does slip into lame territory a few times, thanks to Shekhar Suman. Although he puts up a good show after being away from the screen for years, the humor is hardly entertaining. I could say the same thing about Dutt's acting. He looks tired and carries the same weary air throughout the film. Hydari is lovely, but I couldn't connect with her character in the second half. A deadpan look is not the only facial expression in the dictionary of a person who has seen and been through ghastly things. Sharad Kelkar is the new Ronit Roy, and he does his part very well, compelling us to rejoice at his fate later in the film.

The final 30 minutes are a relief because the techniques used to exact revenge have the potential to keep you engaged. Arun is an ordinary man but his actions are extraordinary, thanks to writer Shaandilyaa for producing these few bits that are at least entertaining if not logical. The camera work is generally humdrum but there is one sequence around halfway where the film succeeds in capturing the misery of a man who is realizing that that moment is the point where his life is going to change forever.

Even though it has all the right ingredients and is supported by a talented cast, there are still issues that mar the film from being a valid entertainer. It tries to raise one too many questions and stumbles over at the first answer itself. There is also no hint about what the director wanted to convey. This again reinforces my statement about Dutt's exoneration, which would then make this a propaganda film, a case I do not wish to pursue.

If revenge dramas are the only type of films that you watch, then Bhoomi is going to be a treat. Otherwise, let me stop you from exposing yourself to 140 minutes of cliché, traditional writing, and a preachy and droll climax. You won't miss out on anything because you have already watched Kaabil or Mom or Maatr.

Good message film
Geeta35231 December 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Bhoomi deals with the sensitive topic of rape and it repercussions for the victim, her family and the perpetrators. Bhoomi was gang raped by a would be spurned lover on the eve of her wedding to her true love. What happens afterward is what the film is all about. It was a womanist film, with Goddess overtones. The message is important to the viewers of this film. It gave this viewer something to think about. It was more than a revenge film because it dealt with issues that must be examined in the light of what is happening to women in society today

emotional dad-daughter tale
beevenkat25 September 2019
#Bhoomi is an emotional dad-daughter tale. The daughter is raped n the dad takes badla. This is the one-line story, it is old-fashioned n there is no novelty in the narration. But the emotional scenes r well handled. Hydari, as the victim, looks innocent, delicate n vulnerable, she performs well. She is the one who encourages her dad to take badla n kill the criminals (unlike in Kaabil, Mom n Maatr). Sanjay Dutt is good as the aggrieved father. Nothing great about the other actors. The length needs to be reduced by 20 minutes. Rating 2.5/5.

Great Concept but Execution suffers
jetkot14 February 2018
The message of the film is good, loud and clear however it falters at execution. Omang Kumar has made a couple of good films like Mary Kom and Sarbjit. This one is more dramatized and loud. The execution of the rape scene and the aftermath does not do justice to the film. The editing is choppy and the climax is extremely predictable. With the same concept Sri Devi's Mom was way ahead in execution. Sanjay Dutt gives a heartfelt performance and he is the true scene stealer. Shekhar Suman's comic timing is good too. The supporting cast is good. Sharad Kelkar plays his role perfectly too. He looks menacing and packs a punch. The female lead could have done better. Aditi Rao Hydari cannot carry the heavy emotional scenes well. She does not convince as the rape victim out for revenge.

the film takes too long to really get into the revenge drama zone
fillerruth21 September 2017
Post the shocking Nirbhaya gang rape in 2012, a major section of the society has begun to see the problems faced by women more seriously and in a new light. It has also led to Bollywood making multiple films on this subject. PINK, MAATR and MOM dealt with this growing menace in recent times and now Sanjay Dutt choses this hard-hitting topic for his comeback film, BHOOMI. So does this film turn out to be an entertaining one or does it fail, let's analyse.

Omung Kumar's direction is very weak. He has used all the Bollywood clichés and made the film extremely violent. Everyone is corrupt and the society is full of hypocrites in this story. Three scenes however are very well executed – when Sanjay Dutt gets new shoes for Aditi, the courtroom scene where Dutt gives a hard hitting speech and when Sanjay Dutt informs about the punishment for rape in different countries of the world to one of the victims.

Coming to performances, Sanjay Dutt is brilliant and his emotions look genuine. He looks convincing as a helpless father and also powerful when he takes revenge in the final scenes. The way his eyes do all the talking in the police station scene is seen to be believed. Aditi Rao Hydari is good in her part and her portrayal of a rape survivor is very impactful. You genuinely feel for her in the film. Sharad Kelkar is the best out of all the villains. He looks very convincing. Riddhi Sen (Jeetu) delivers an effective performance and he has a crucial part in the film. Veer Aryan (Ghulam) gets little scope but does fine. Puru Chibber is quite nice as the rapist as well as the helpless target of Arun. Shekhar Suman (Taj) is wasted. Sidhant Gupta does well in his cameo.

Sachin-Jigar's music is weak and has no scope. 'Will You Marry Me', played during opening credits, is the only one that works. 'Jai Mata Di' played in the climax enhances impact. The Sunny Leone item song 'Trippy Trippy' looks forced and is badly placed. Ismail Darbar's background score is strong.

Arthur Zurawski's cinematography is very good. Vanita Omung Kumar's production design is authentic and rustic. Jayesh Shikharkhane's editing is disappointing. The 135 minute long film should have been trimmed by 15-20 minutes to create the necessary impact. Javed- Aejaz's action is too gory and might put off the family audiences.

On the whole, BHOOMI comes across as a decent entertainer with power packed performance by Sanjay Dutt. At the box office, it will have to compete with other releases for its share of footfalls.

Sanjay Dutt is back with a bang
Nikhil924 November 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Bhoomi may be a typical revenge story where the daughter gets raped and father is forced to take action against this issue. I think Omung Kumar handles this movie very well with excellent direction. You have court scenes which may look predictable as you think these baddies will get away this issue which they do. However, Sanjay Dutt asks these guys for forgiveness but in most cases, no father would never forgive anyone for raping their beloved ones.

Later on in the film, Sanjay decides to avenges after his daughter gets molested because there is a twist which was unexpected. Earlier you had three guys who raped Aditi but a fourth guy (later on revealed) was in involved and raped her along with the other three men. I loved the way Sanju tortured the guy and his dialogues were interesting where he explained what happens to people in countries like Korea, Iran, Afghanistan and etc who rape a female.

Like I said, it may be typical revenge angle but the way Sanju Baba takes action gives you curiosity as what happens next.

Sanjay Dutt is back after a very long time and he gives an excellent performance in his father role. His emotions and innocence at the court scenes were superb. Plus, intensity when he attacks those who raped his daughter.

Aditi Rao Hydari is excellent and was a good choice for the daughter role. She shows innocence and vulnerability where she gets victimised by these baddies. I thought her character was going to be killed off after those guys tossed her into the water. However, I'm glad that her character lived unlike other roles in movies where the heroine usually dies.

The baddies do a good job in their respective parts.

Overall, Bhoomi is worth a watch although its a pity that it Flopped at the Box Office. I will rate this film out of 7/10 but nonetheless a good comeback for Sanjay Dutt.

Too dramatic!!!
vidhya_u11 August 2018
Sanjay Dutt was awsome!!! But all the others where over dramatic!!! Aditi Rao Hydari was an actress with excellent acting skills. But she failed drastically, actually one of her worst movies, which is clearly due to bad direction!! Had watched this movie with a very high expectation, but too dissapointed!!!

saadatwaleem24 November 2017
An utter disappointment. Poor plot. Poor story line. Poor direction. Too many poors in this movie that even a seasoned actor like sunjay couldn't do much. An utter waste of time. seems like the writer was lost as to how to proceed with the story and then suddenly realized that he had to end it as well. Pl don't waste yr time.

Why is "Bhoomi" important?
saimiftikhar25 December 2017
Most of the important movies of bollywood, get flopped. Because it is difficult for people to understand serious and delicate things. All they want to see is rubbish pathetic low level romance. Bhoomi is one of the most important movies of bollywood. All actors acted well, direction was above average, story was build up perfectly. There is nothing wrong with this movie. Do not forget that the topic of this movie is extremely serious, rape is the worst thing that can ever happen. So if you have a very weak heart, do not watch this movie. But that does not mean that this movie is bad. If you are looking for a serious bollywood movie on a serious topic, go for it!

Complete waste of time..frustrating!
hrhkalways6 November 2017
Unbelievable how in this day and age a movie like this can be put out to fool the viewers! Really? I mean even the front benchers have rejected this movie. There is nothing to redeem this movie. This movie was meant to rest on Sanjay Dutt's shoulders. Wow. He cant talk, cant emote, can just give poses. He's good only in movies where his role is cleverly managed in small doses amongst the other star cast. Where he is just used to add an image. Too much was expected out of him in this movie. The movie was all gone in the first 15 minutes. Ridiculous direction. No one really had a chance in the movie. It had potential to start with. But no where did it show promise. Utter waste of time and money. Very frustrating to be cheated like this when one goes to see the movie after reading such glowing reviews like Sanjay dutts comeback movies..etc etc....Bad casting, bad direction...there's no end to it.

A deliberately destroyed over expressing melodrama !
abhowmick-827844 February 2019
The film starts with a clear idea that the girl is gonna get raped and everything else after that is just as much predictable as you can think of ! The plot is pretty common, tons of movies have been made on this kinda topic. And I can easily say that this is the worst one I have ever watched on this kinda plot. And not just in film the overall plot of the first 40 minutes of the film is unfortunately very much common in our society as well. Director, scriptwriter, dialogues, even performers like Sanjay Dutta, Aditi Rao, Riddhi Sen all are destructively failed and this film is nothing but a farrago of over acting, some unnecessary heavy dialogues, extremely stretched scenes, poor concepts, lack of realistic scenes and so on... In spite of having such an important social issue this film is a total flop because it is so unrealistic in every aspect that you will not be able to relate it even for a single second. Just a mixture poor performances from all the cast and crew ! Immensely disappointed!

gauravar22 September 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Movie was very slow, Sanjay dutt was looking very handsome only, Shekhar Suman comic part was goo otherwise direction was so poor, not making complete interest of viewers. This should not be a Sanjay Dutt's come back movie. This movie was can be more much better. Story was good but again not directed properly. Aditi Rao was also just OK, end part was very very poor. Sorry but don't waste your time in this movie. Not in Baba's fans. Thanks

user5155516 November 2019
Actors did their part good, but, storyline was same 40 year old, beat the crap out of Hero and then he will fight back and all very dramatic. sorry, in today's world, it would have made more sense if the video was shown as evidence, and culprits brought to justice or if they had to go on taking revenge, be smart about it, not meet in lonely place with no backup and count on director to save the duo. Sholay times are gone.

Bhoomi Review: Sanjay Dutt's comeback turns out to be worth watching!
Achyut_Prashast_Singh1 November 2017
Movie: Bhoomi (UA)

Rating: 4.5/5

Sanjay Dutt made his comeback this year with this new action drama BHOOMI. There were many reviews which thrashed the film and the director's vision totally. The film actually is very gripping, and its biggest success is that it's emotionally very powerful and intense, due to which it engaged the viewer so much that it's hard to realize when time passes so easily while watching this 132 minutes long film.

Director Omung Kumar has handled the film well. BHOOMI has the required intensity which works for the most part. The drama's powerful, as is the action. The director has told more of a story than just making a commercial package. The execution is top notch.

The film's intense dialogues also deserve praise as they are why the film gets elevated, especially during the second hour. The action scenes are decent as mentioned above, and the cinematography is splendid.

The only problem is with the editing in first half as unnecessary songs pop up, and that too where they weren't needed at all.

Sanjay Dutt's performance is excellent and the role suits him very well. Aditi Rao Hydari delivers an excellent performance that needs to looked forward to. Sharad Kelkar gets decent lines to speak, and delivers a fine act. Shekhar Suman also does a decent job and his comedy in the first hour works. Rest of the cast does the required job well.

BHOOMI is an intense action drama which has the necessary ingredients needed for an entertaining as well as educating film. Watch it not just if you are a Sanjay Dutt fan or a fan of anyone else in the cast, but also because this film delivers a hard-hitting message which needs to be seen and understood by all.

Predictable, boring and pale movie despite of strong Performance by Sanjay Dutt
sauravjoshi857 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Bhoomi is an action drama revenge movie directed by Omung Kumar and stars Sanjay Dutt, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sharad Kelkar, Shekhar Suman, Riddhi Sen, Puru Chibber and Sidhant Gupta.

Whenever you hears or reads the name like Omung Kumar directing the movie with Sanjay Dutt, Sharad Kelkar and Shekhar Suman in the star cast you will be super thrilled and excited to watch the movie but in terms of this movie it's a huge let down.

The movie has a cliché plot with cliché screenplay and cliché dialogues. We have seen many similar movies in late 80s and early to mid 90s and it seems that the director was still not able to come out from that mode.

The story of the movie is a predictably boring in which a young independent woman is getting married to the man of her dreams and she is being gang raped by Male Chauvinist one sided lover who couldn't accept her rejection with his relatives. Her father tried to get justice with the help of court but fails, be decides to take control in his hands and this is when the typical bollywood masala comes into effect off course with a sleazy item song.

The movie is full of overdramatic melodrama which rather irritates instead of gaining sympathy such as the courtroom drama or the character assassination of the girl by putting his number on walls.

Acting apart from Sanjay Dutt and Sharad Kelkar is ineffective. Shekhar Suman is a tremendously talented actor but ended up being very loud in the character in the of the role of a guide and also the drunk best friend of Sanjay Dutt. Aditi was average and failed to put an impact or gain sympathy from the audience, rest all the characters were bad. Screenplay of the movie is predictably boring and you will realize that you have seen similar scenes and heard similar dialogues in many 80s and 90s movies. Cinematography is average. Songs are forgettable.

Climax of the movie is the most annoying and senseless part of the movie with lots of women throwing their dupatta on Kelkar who had fallen in a well. This was probably the most hilariously funny scenes of the movie and yes the audiences might also throw their patience by this time.

Overall Bhoomi is a very pale and botched up attempt to carry feminism and in my opinion a clearly avoidable movie.

Graphical Violance, Blood, Melodrama, unrealistic. Too much disturbing scenes, unrealistic revenges and court scenes. Unnecessary songs. The role of Police was absolutely zero. Even after getting the video proof of the crime, they did not go back to court but killed the rapists themselves.

first half is OK but in 2nd half story line is typical when kill rapist in bus, bus route change and bring to dolly location make any sense!? and why placed item number after interval ? it seems irrelevant..

A typical Hindi film. And naturally, a very obvious ending- villains get killed. If you haven't already seen the movie, sorry I spoilt the ending for you... but hey, I'm saving you from the torture! As for Aditi Rao Hydari... darling I hope you get Laryngitis!

Bhoomi turns out to be a tedious watch.
binducherungath23 September 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Bhoomi, a film by Omung Kumar and come-back film of Sanjay Dutt is one more film on a very disturbing topic of rape. The plot of the film is sensitive – a girl, who is brought up by her father, when grows up and is about to get married, a day prior to that she is being raped by a guy who was rejected by her. Offlate, we saw two Hindi films – Raveena Tandon's Maatr and Sridevi's Mom, where mothers rose heroically and at times in an unrealistic manner to take revenge against their daughters' rapists. And in Kaabil also, same theme is used where a husband tries to take revenge for his wife's ordeal. Here, we see Sanjay Dutt taking revenge for his daughter's rape. The very word rape is scary, sensitive, disturbing and so whenever a film revolves around rape and revenge, it becomes difficult to review the film. But, as a piece of art, the film needs to be reviewed and on that front Bhoomi absolutely fails. It turns out to be a very tedious watch. It is sad that the victim girl is raped again and again by the society, neighbourhood. And, if the girl chooses to go to the court then she is subjected to another series of gang rapes by the advocates, witnesses etc. through the grilling processes during court proceedings. It is an irony that the men who are the culprits move freely in the society and they don't even shy away from threatening the girl and her family / well- wishers. The film had potential, but it is beyond my understanding why Sanjay Dutt chose this one as his come-back film. We have seen him giving powerful performances in the past be it Agnipath or Vastava or Zinda… But here, a mediocre Sanjay is trapped in a mediocre film.

The film begins with a girl being kidnapped and her juttis falling on the street. Then the frame moves back a month earlier where the titular character Bhoomi (Aditi) is shown performing in a marriage along with her fiancée Neeraj (Sidhant Gupta). The very first song 'Jugni, will you marry me' does not connect with the hearts. In another frame, Arun Sachdeva (Sanjay Dutt) and his brother (or friend, not clear) Shekhar Suman are shown to be drinking at home. Their conversation was intended to generate humour but unfortunately it does not happen. Bhoomi gets angry when she enters home and sees her dad and uncle drinking. She is then pampered by Arun and he persuades her to have food. These scenes could have been more powerful where the strong bond between father-daughter was to be established. Arun runs a footwear shop. Bhoomi is single-handed brought up by Arun, she stutters. Arun is very excited (though his expressions tell a different story altogether) for Bhoomi's marriage. Vishal enters into the scene when Arun goes to his shop to distribute Bhoomi's wedding card. Here audience got to see a very soft-spoken guy Vishal who loves Bhoomi. But later this very guy, when rejected in love by Bhoomi, becomes obsessed and joins hands with his cousin brothers (friends) for committing the crime. Dhauli (Sharad Kelkar) loves to play a game Hide and Cheekh (Shout) wherein men run behind girls and catch them to spend the nights. Oh, absolutely a b-grade film. To top it all, Sunny Leone appears in mud-clad-body in an item number. One keeps wondering that what happened to Omung Kumar, who gave us Mary Kom and Sarabjeet. Omung has not done justice to Bhoomi.

The name Bhoomi might have been chosen metaphorically to show the patience of earth, but in many scenes, the characters have become mere spectators. Editing also seems weird.

What happens to Bhoomi? What happens to her marriage with Neeraj (Sidhant Gupta)? How does she handle the turmoil of her life? How are the characters of Dhauli, Vishal, Jithu (Riddhi Sen) weaved in the story ?

Certain questions which are there in my mind: Why Sanjay Dutt's character had to be a drunkard? How did Aditi's stuttering add to the script? Why Sanjay kept the same emotion on his face and maintained dopey monotone? What happened to Shekhar Suman? He has given a very dispassionate performance. Even, where the audience is supposed to laugh, his dialogues and mannerisms don't generate any humour. And post –interval, his character vanishes for a pretty long time, whereas that was a crucial time, when he was supposed to be shown to be with Bhoomi and Arun; is it editing problem or the screenplay did not have it? Why the hell Arun had to eat lice while making Bhoomi's hair? Initial proceedings in the court were focusing more on the love angle of Neeraj and Bhoomi rather than focusing on rape, why so ? Why did the villain characters lost their power every now and then?

The film does highlight that minors can commit rape but not punished since he is not 18. It also shows a different kind of response towards the tragedy. But that is it!!! Bhoomi turns out to be a tedious watch. Mediocre actings trapped in mediocre script. The film does not pick up at all, be it in terms of story, screenplay, dialogues, acting, performances. Such a sensitive topic handled in an absolutely insensitive manner. Skip the film !!!

Sanju baba the great!
abufahad-2827114 August 2018
Movie touched some delicate issues but lingered a lot to getting to the part of revenge.. and revenge was executed quickly.. Movie would have been different if the director and story writer have lingered on the revenge part more Regardless, Sanjay duty gave the outstanding performance which is expected from the outstanding star that he is.

Warning: Spoilers
The movie holds you in your seat from starting till end.the movie is emotional too which represents the problems being faced by the women or girl after being raped, What support she needs from society and her nieghbours and family. Sanjay dutt presence in the movie assures us that nothing bad is going to happen with bhoomi again. Aditi rao played the character well. Sanjay dutt comeback is very good . Sharad kelkar is awesome. He looks like a very evil villain . Sidhant gupta is waste . it would be o.k.if he is not in the movie. He is good for nothing. Shekhar suman performance is good like always.he must not be died in the movie. Overall movie is great with the victory of good over evil in the end and a happy ending.
