When Jay (Ed O'Neill) goes into the backyard and sees another man teaching his son Joe how to throw a baseball, he says, "What's going on? I feel like I've died and I'm watching my family as a ghost". In a two-part segment (It's a Bundyful Life Part 2 (1989)) of O'Neil's previous series, Eine schrecklich nette Familie (1987), his character Al Bundy is electrocuted by faulty Christmas lighting and his guardian angel lets him see what life would be like for his family without him.
