Bad acting in low budget waste

Sorry but I seriously think all these raving reviews which are eerily similar are written by the actors. Script full of holes the temptress who sweeps bored wife off her feet in a span of 1 minute doesn't look like she could get a date at a strip bar. Let alone every one in town.

Not Thelma and Louise.

Devil's Cove is the name of a bar and small western town where Jackie (Chloe Traicos) kills Rick (Cameron Barnes) the husband of Toni (Christelle Baguidy). They go on the run.

The film is done semi-documentary style with needless interviews. I liked the characters, but the plot didn't do them justice. Chloe Traicos is on the rough looking side, i.e. a face for radio. The camera was never really parallel to the floor. The filming had a slight angle to it. I don't know if it was done by design or just an amateur mistake.

"B" actor Michael Keyes plays the bar owner.

Guide: F-word, sex. No nudity.

Traicos is compelling!

Chloe Traicos gives a raw, blazing performance of psychotic killer, Jackie McGann. Her performance alone makes the movie worthwhile. Yet it is not the only thing that holds the film together. " Devil's Cove" is a dark yet oddly humorous story about two girls, Toni ( played by Christelle Baguidy) and Jackie ( played by Traicos) who murder Toni's bullying husband Rick and escape the confines of their small town of Devil's Cove The journey the girls go on goes from being scary to brutally terrifying as Toni discovers that her lesbian lover is in fact a cold hearted killer. I think this movie is a film that takes the idea of feminism to a whole new level. The men are easily disposed of while it is the women who steal the show. A gutsy piece that I would certainly recommend

Surprisingly Funny

Okay, I HAD to see this movie when I read something about Ed Wood, and I gotta say it's pretty accurate. It's definitely not the best made movie or anything, but I think there's a lot of funny stuff in there that people overlook, like the part where they're all snorting cocaine with straws was amazing, and the lady who talks about killing herself made me laugh every single time, and the kid who was so excited to have sex with the girls because he's never had sex was great. It's campy and a little over the top, but I think that works with the way the film is made. I really hope this movie finds an audience, because B movie lovers like me would eat it up.

Brimming with great performances and dramatic scenes...

Brimming with great performances and dramatic scenes, this is one truly awesome film taking female oriented drama to a whole new level. This story is a feminist version of an outlaw road movie. It tells the story of Toni Duval (Christelle Baguidy) , an outsider to the bizarre town of Devil's Cove, who falls for the mysteriously charismatic Jackie ( Chloe Traicos). The two girls embark on an intense affair and when Toni's husband, Rick ( Cameron Barnes) attempts to keep them apart, the girls murder him and flee town. Chloe Traicos is fantastic . Her performance alone is worth watching the movie for. Although it has to be said the entire cast is truly brilliant. Christelle Baguidy also gives an eloquent and compassionate performance. Barnes too is frighteningly convincing as the vilifying wife beater. A truly good, well written independent masterpiece!

As a horror movie fanatic I loved this clever little piece. I found the story riveting and the script quirky and fun. It almost has a Tarantino touch in that you find yourself laughing at the most inappropriate moments. As far as independents go it's right up there. I thought Chloe Traicos was brilliant in her performance as Jackie McGann the evil sociopathic killer and Christelle Baguidy was also very good as the vulnerable sweet Toni. There is a little bit of overacting in parts but in many ways this adds to it.

Favorite scene: Definitely Jackie rescuing the gang at the police station.

A mixture of Shocksploitation horror, and brilliant psychological thriller!

I did not know what to expect when watching this film. I had been told it was a mixture of " Thelma and Louise" crossed with "Monster" - This was true to some extent yet the film also brings a unique story of its own. While on the surface it may come across as a little campy and horror like it contains an incredible twist that I did not see coming. It also portrays the relationship between the two protagonists on a deep psychological level. Chloe Traicos is radiant as the evil Jackie McGann. It is hard to take your eyes from her as she moves across the screen like a tiger ready to pounce on her next victim. Her gutsy, volatile performance is one that viewers will not easily forget. Christelle Baguidy is very good as the seemingly mild Toni Duval, later in the movie it is revealed that she too has claws. The two girls portray a gorgeous sexual chemistry on screen that is truly amazing to watch. I thought this film was great and think it could certainly start a cult following amongst the horror fanatics. My one criticism was the use of the dream sequences that seemed a little out of place in comparison with the rest of the story. On the whole a brilliant piece that I fully recommend.

Thrilling Performance Driven and Amusing

I went to this movie quite by chance and ended up really liking it. It's a cute, low budget 21st century version of Thelma and Louise, only this time the girls are lesbians and one is pure evil. The film is the story of Toni, played by Christelle Baguidy, a young naive girl who has moved with her husband to his crazy home town of Devil's Cove. There she meets the charismatic but completely malevolent Jackie, Chloe Traicos, who she embarks in a complicated lesbian affair with. When Rick Cameron Barnes, Toni's abusive husband attempts to stop her affair, Toni and Jackie murder him in cold blood. The story takes on several interesting twists and turns the main one being that Toni is not the sweet innocent she first appears to be. Aside from the strong, exciting story line the movie is packed with interesting characters and amusing dialogue that keeps you fully entertained the whole way through. The performances are brilliant especially Traicos who you cannot stop watching. Fully recommend !

What the independent world needs......

Loved this cleverly delivered little masterpiece. It's frankly what the independent film world needs right now in this world of racism and bigotry. Here you have an intense love story between an interracial lesbian couple. A couple who murder the abusive men in their lives and move on. Yet have to flee the law and live in hiding. During which time the main protagonist Toni learns that her lover Jackie is anything but the perfect lover she once thought. However this film looks at the levels of human relationships in an incredibly new and different light. It realistically portrays a deadbeat small town Devil's Cove and its portrayal of all the characters and their reactions through the events of the film is really quite adept. Definitely recommending to all indie lovers out there.

A story of rape, murder and intrigue

Set in the small fictional town of "Devil's Cove" a place where dropouts and criminals tend to flock, super naive and newly married Toni meets the dangerous and badass Jackie McGann. The two embark on a dangerous romance that knows no bounds. When they are threatened by Toni's husband, Rick, a convicted rapist, they commit a murder and have to make a run for it. Chloe Traicos' performance as the sociopathic bad girl Jackie McGann is so unnervingly brilliant that it almost threatens to overshadow the whole film. But not quite. "Devil's Cove" is a movie with a lot of backbone and great performances all round. Intensity is the name of the game in this debut feature by Erik Lundmark. It is a story with guts and determination, brilliantly shot and edited. Flawless performances combined with great, direction make this a wholly absorbing drama laced with humor and tragedy. And the soundtrack is terrific!

Loved this film

Have to say I really liked this little movie. I found it a bit bizarre ( in a good way) and very female oriented. This is a movie featuring two tough girls who aren't taking garbage from anyone. Advice when watching: Don't become annoyed with the Toni character. At first I found her too simpering and sweet and a bit pathetic but as the movie unfolds you will see she is anything but that. Christelle Baguidy does a great job in the role as does Chloe Traicos who plays the sexy killer vixen Jackie McGann.

Gutsy, Brilliant and Terrifying

This gutsy, brilliant, terrifying and also incredibly funny movie is a Must See for all. A controversial thriller about an interracial lesbian couple, the naive Toni and the evil Jackie, a woman suspected of murdering her own baby. After getting off to a rough start the two girls hit it off and indulge in a passionate affair going on to murder Toni's abusive husband Rick, played by the talented Cameron Barnes. Toni essentially realizes she has taken on more than she bargained for as Jackie proceeds to embark on a series of senseless murders. While dealing with incredibly dark subject matter the film delivers plenty of entertaining one liners, mostly delivered by Jackie, played by the writer of the story, Chloe Traicos. With a mostly unknown cast the performances delivered are convincing and real. Traicos is electrifying as the sociopathic Jackie McGann. You cannot take your eyes off her and she keeps you riveted from the first moment, stealing every scene she is in. Cameron Barnes is phenomenal as the abusive and unfortunate Rick who finds himself brutally slaughtered. Kent Hatch who plays Jackie's drunken ex fiance Stan is another who you cannot stop watching. Both a hilarious and a tragic figure Stan is almost symbolic of the isolated one horse town - Devil's Cove a place society's misfits tend to gather. Christelle Baguidy also does a fantastic job of playing the gullible Toni Duval, a girl not so innocent as she first appears. Erik Lundmark has certainly done a tremendous job in directing his first feature. Hopefully we will be seeing more films by him. In short this is an incredible piece that I fully recommend.

Quirky and Cute

I did enjoy this movie which is done in the gritty, Blair Witch, low budget style. It certainly keeps you guessing the whole way through. The whole lesbian, interracial couple thing was a big politically correct, almost like trying to make Thelma and Louise in the 21st century. However it does pull together well and is surprisingly funny in parts. I found the acting a little weak except for Chloe Traicos who is remarkable, taking over every scene she is in. Rebecca Tudor, who has a tiny role is also brilliant. I would have probably changed the ending to something more dramatic, Thelma and Louise style but on the whole this baby does work!

Funny and Thrilling

I found myself really enjoying this little film that screened at the Laemmle. While done on a tiny budget the story was solid and the acting pretty good. I tend to be a low budget horror movie fanatic and have to say this is certainly not your standard horror. However it is clever and more of a "road" movie thriller with incredibly witty dialogue. Chloe Traicos is definitely the main reason to watch this movie. As the sociopathic Jackie she is quite electrifying and brilliant to watch. I enjoyed many of the characters in the movie especially Jim the barman who was played by Asger Folmann - a fantastic actor who I wanted to see more of. On the whole a solidly good little film. Would definitely recommend it.
