Plot; Kanan, Ezra and Rex are sent to the now abandoned planet of Geonosis to track down a missing Rebel team led by the mysterious Saw Gerrera.

Having now seen Rogue One, it was cool to see the character of Saw Gerrera show up; voiced by Forest Whitaker no less. I'm continually impressed by the series' ability to get the live action actors to come in and voice their animated counterparts.

Like any two-parter, it ends on a bit of a cliff hanger and there's no self contained arc, but the set up here is intriguing enough and the episode is held together by its combination of mystery, action and humor.

Saw problems coming.

A very good solid episode with some really nice links into the overall Star Wars story.

We meet back up with Saw Gerrera who was introduced in Clone Wars and who we see at a later point of his story in Rogue One. This acts as a great bridge between the younger Saw's story and the character we see in the movie. It is really good background. It is nice to get Forest Whitaker voicing the role too.

We see how the rebellion is trying to gain support by showing others what the Empire has done in Geonosis.

It is implied the Empire used the Geonosians to help build the Death Star then betrayed them and wiped them out.

It is adding little details to the overall arc.

My rating: 8/10.

Ghosts of Geonosis: Part I

This was definitely the episode that they wanted to tie-in to "Rogue One," and even though it came out a few weeks after that film's original premiere, it might have helped create a little bit of afterbuzz for a lot of fans of that film. I think it is a flawed film, but still overall enjoy it, and I do actually believe that this is a good episode as it give some more story to Saw Gerrera, someone who I didn't get anything from in the film. There is a little more connection with him and the main characters, and it is understandable how he has gotten this name for himself. I liked the idea of the mission, and I thought going back to Geonosis was a good idea. I am still a little bit surprised that a primitive lifeform was able to acquire some kind of remote that could control a whole army of droids, and I thought that the film's ending was a little weird. It is a two-parter, so there will definitely be more in the next episode. This was a good episode, and even though it doesn't really do anything for the main storyline of this season, it does expand on the mythos of one of the more underwhelming characters in "Rogue One."

Part 1

I thought this was actually an excellent first part and a great two-part arc overall. It's interesting seeing how extreme Saw takes things given how fairly laid back he was in The Clone Wars. I feel for the guy, even when I don't agree with his methods.

The build-up here was really well done as was the atmosphere and animation. Good stuff.
