To see a talented man like Vineeth Sreenivasan fool around in a film that aspires to be a biography but is instead an embarrassment is an embarrassment. Aby as a film fails in almost all departments - from the plot to the production design to the cast performance. Although the film starts off with a promising dramatic tinge, viewers are going to yawn and may even try to catch forty winks by the first hour. The second half is horrible, with no direction or fuel to keep the story going. Even if the makers had a good intention to picturize the story of the real-life person, what it turns out to be is a contrived hyperbolical spectacle that neither inspires nor entertains.
It's almost as if a badly constructed paper plane was soaked in water and made to fly. We all know what's going to happen to that. Skip for life!

All of his previous works were great collaborations. But this one just straight up sucked.
Felt like a waste of money. There is no character development and there is not even a good punchline or joke from Aju Varghese. The way things happen in the movie are totally stupid. There are is a lot lag. Unwanted scenes that could have been avoided in the final cut or from the script itself. Some of the scenes were even cringe worthy.
I say it good if you don't waste your time and money on this garbage.

Aby, who wants to fly takes his soul for flying, no matter what happens in his life throughout his life-story. Conveys a great message that, if there is a will, there is a way... Nice film to watch for family and also teens... There is a great man behind DOP(don't know the name) and has done the job perfectly. The story is good and each and every song has the perfect timing in the time-line and does its job perfectly.
'Aby' conveys well what it sets out to tell. As expected from the trailers and songs, we have an inspirational tale here with Aby as the protagonist. What is notable is that Vineeth Sreenivasan too has come of age with this movie with a good acting to prove his detractors wrong. Director Srikant who made his debut with this movie has done well to narrate such a tale. Though not a typical entertainer, the motivational edge gets you glued to the seat.
There is sure a formulistic element in the plot with prodigy recognised, subsequent overcoming of hurdles and final triumph. But the way the movie has been narrated and the treatment given to the script makes 'Aby' an above average fare. Srikant can take a bow for his direction. Eccentricity is something that any society shuns. That struggle has been narrated well. The support of Animol (Mareena Michael) is well presented. Aju Varghese plays Aby's friend, Kunjootan. Some element of humour is introduced with this character.
Characterization is spot on in Aby. Child artiste Vasudev is notable. The rest of the characters including Sudheer as the loving yet arrogant father and Mareena as the daring and lovable Animol is impressive. Another character in the movie is Idukki. After 'Maheshinte Prathikaram', Idukki is pictured beautifully in this movie. Techinically the movie is well made. Sky, Idukki, eccentricity, natural settings all appears alluring on Sudheer Surendarn's lens. Bijipal and Jaison's music blends with the narrative. Anil Johnson's BG is in keeping with the tone of the movie.
'Aby' though predictable and lagging in parts is an engaging watch. It aims to engage with the heart and does so with gusto. With a good enough treatment and narration, catch the movie for its motivational and inspiring premise.
