Hi score reviews are fake, low scores are bitter
al-mcdowall23 February 2020
Tricky one this.... Overall, not bad. Some misdirected/poorly acted scenes between Alex and Liam but the two lead actresses did a pretty good job throughout. Too much of a lean on wide angle lens shots - and the fact that I picked up on it should show how much it was misused. Pretty sure I understood the end, but it's slightly ambiguous which is not a bad thing. It's not a GREAT film but it's not awful either. If you have an interest in films (as opposed to purely being a consumer of them) I'd say it's worth a watch. I didn't regret seeing it, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone I know either. Looks like a first feature for a lot of the creatives, and I think it was a strong showing with a lot of really nice choices. Without being derivative it reminded me a little of the Hammer House Of Horror series from the 80s and also (weirdly) the 60s Avengers TV show (Emma Peel and Steed) - in a good way. Don't be mislead by the super high scores, but don't be put off by the super low ones either.

Terrible.
cec-thomson16 February 2020
The film is even worse than the fake 9 and 10/10 reviews on IMDB. Horrendous.

I don't know what's going on.
TokyoGyaru22 January 2022
Don't let my review history on here fool you: I do love subtle, well-crafted, thought-provoking films too (I just don't tend to talk about them on IMDB because it's mostly a place I vent about movies that I think are bad or bland). But, also, don't think I'm saying this is such a film. Subtlety can be great, but there's subtlety and then there's vagueness. This film has the latter. I can suspect the intent, but it's not really clear what they're attempting because the execution is so boring and confusing.

And this is another one of those British films in which everyone seems to dislike each other even when they supposedly like each other. I've been heavy into British media since childhood, but sometimes those kinds of attitudes (and even the drawn-out posh accents) do my head in, to borrow a phrase. Are British people really just fake and pretentious and up their own butts? Maybe. But it's not fun to watch in a movie. I root for no one in such a case.

I love the set (house), and I love the red dress (the red lipstick too). Some of the music is catchy. There are some good shots, and it doesn't look like it was filmed on a first-generation smartphone like some indie films even to this day. The makeup/FX was fine too. Otherwise, it's nothing. The pacing and lack of suspense kill this film. Also, the "main" blonde woman is so thin it's difficult to look at sometimes.

Boring and Messy Story of Obsession
claudio_carvalho5 May 2020
"Eve" is the type of low-budget thriller that raises expectations to the viewer, using a modern environment and location, beautiful cast and a predictable mystery. Unfortunately, the slow-paced development associated to a messy screenplay turn the potential of the film into a terrible and forgettable non-sense experience. My vote is two.

Disaster...
lauramaric823 May 2020
The movie is a complete disaster... The plot is moving extremely slow. In the end we don't understand is Alex a splitted personality, or she really has gone throu hell because of an other woman being obsessed with a role to steal... Too bad... Movie is a waste of time

In the (starry) eyes
kosmasp27 May 2022
I already have a movie I can suggest to you, if you either like or think about watching this. And it is Starry Eyes - I am not saying that both those movies are the same. Actually I am even saying the other one is way better. But I mean story wise. There are differences and all that. But it is the mood this tries to catch. While not a bad idea and for a low budget movie not badly done: if you only watch one movie, watch the other one.

A struggling actress, unable to get a role. Frustrated - even though she doesn't seem to have a bad life. But there is more. We kind of knew there will be more. And there are twists - quite nice ones. Especially the way they visually come to life right in front of your eyes. Also there is going to be some violence and madness ... which is quite nicely done as well. Seen worse but that is because I watch a lot. And I may be a bit too nice when it comes to the rating thing, but I think there is something here ... even if it is not that much for most.

the story was really slow
lifelinespublishing14 February 2020
The story was really slow that I was about to doze off and it's only 9PM here in Manila.....decided not to finish since I know where the story was headed., the actors were average to say the least but I wish there was something to wake you up in the first parts of the story just to wake you up....managed only 30 minutes as this was going to be a waste of time.

Eve
yarra196613 June 2020
Everyone involved in this has talent. The cast is attractive and committed, the cinematography is slick, the direction is mostly interesting, and the art direction very good. The problem is it's too aware of its own artiness and influences and that makes the pace sluggish. Too many scenes slowly (very slowly) build tension without a payoff--so you start to get impatient. But there is enough good here to recommend it...especially cinephiles with a taste for things like Aronofsky;s "Black Swan" and Polanski's "Repulsion."

reviews agaain!
ferdmalenfant17 February 2020
I'Ii keep watching these 10/10 movies to weed out. This movie wasn't the worse I've seen but it's certainly was bizarre and definitely not anything over a 4/10. Its very slow with not much action. Much too cerebral for my taste.

Intriguing, mysterious psychological thriller. Definitely worth watching
LaurelCanyonStore30 October 2020
A circular, Joycean "Riverrun" structure, with an open to interpretation, ambiguous end-beginning that is thought provoking and somewhat mysterious. Reality and illusion, madness, sanity and identity are the meaty themes in a story of obsession and a plot about the life of actors (or of an actor?) and art imitating life and vice versa. A very enjoyable watch with natural fluid acting from the main and supporting cast. Great performances here and well directed (which counters the surfaceness of some scenes and a slight, unevenness/ dip in/ pace in the narrative.) The symbolism and visual metaphors are thoughtful. The script is highly contained not unlike a one room play. An absorbing, authentic and original horror with some excellent suspense. Absolutely sumptuous cinematography - worth watching for alone -and no surprise with Kubrick's DP, Douglas Milsome at the helm. Masterful. Directionally, a highly promising debut. Recommended.

Boring
ferdmalenfant17 February 2020
I'm not sure but I think that it was about two actors up for the same role. This is completely stupid. I guess it was supposed to be an "artsy film" but it's one hell of a confusing piece of garbage. Terrible attempt at making a movie.

Psychological meets artsy meets horror meets a disastrous cast of actors. This film school project deserves a F!

Unique little Lynchian tale
Antonioket16 February 2020
I watched this not really knowing anything about the film except that it was psychological thriller. Well I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised. It's definitely got a very 'Lynchian' tone about it... The story - about an actress who believes she's being terrorized - gets really weird and freaky. It may not be perfect (what is nowadays?), but it's certainly unique.

A great little horror/thriller... MUST WATCH!
Bunnyjoo16 February 2020
This is quite a bizarre film but one I truly enjoyed. The story is about an actress who's up for a major role but is convinced someone from within the industry is trying to sabotage her. Things get weird and dark pretty quickly. By the end you are left pretty speechless. I highly recommend...

Thought provoking thriller
Billiekind16 February 2020
Slow start but becomes very interesting, not at all what I expected. The story leaves you with something to think about. Much more of a psychological thriller than a horror. High production values and a great cast. Recommended for something a bit different.

Suspense was scary, the ending even scarier
steveJW0014 February 2020
It's a slow burn, building a manic obsession up to a shocking climax. Great story and solid performances from all, building the tension throughout. Rachel Warren IMO steals the show as Bex, transforming from normality to utter psychosis as the story unfolds. Wow, just look at her as she completely flips: have you heard a scream of desperation and anger quite like that? Overall, pretty disturbing (that's what good horror is I guess) and left me a bit troubled which is, after all, the point of the movie.

The Kubrick connection...
aidanaodwyer17 February 2020
This film looks amazing! Probably down to the fact that the DP, Douglas Milsome, was Stanley Kubrick's cinematographer. It feels very Kubrickian... It may not be everyone's cup of tea but if you like your films atmospheric and more than a little disturbing, then this is for you.

Left with so many questions - interesting plot- great thriller
info-6383221 February 2020
What an interesting Art house Thriller - In some places it was a slow but overall I was gripped. Very interested by Rory Kindersley and how he directed the piece - it was like watching art work. he has a beautiful eye for art. I have to say - the levels of emotions Actress Rachel Warren delivered were varied and she really gave it her all. Lex Shrapnel was great - such a natural performer and it was lovely to see Ali Bastian appear in it. Well done, great acting and great direction on such a challenging and bizarre script.

Totally enjoyed this modern thriller. Stunning locations and superbly shot. Screenplay is spot on. More proof that micro budget films can stand their ground with the bigger players.
