Fantastic show. Charming characters, hilarious writing, nice animation, wholesome lessons, and brilliant comedic timing. You'll be smiling your way through each of the 14 episodes (and some extra shorts).

Can't wait for the 2nd season.

I would highly reccommend watching this short series. Its hilarious and beautifully animated. The characters are entertaining, and the whole thing is very wholesome and cute.

My only complaint is the busty dragon and the little boy. Their relationship is creepy and gross, and they ruin every scene they are in. Without those two, this show would be perfect.

A Pleasant Experience

While I don't really watch anime much, I found myself liking this one. Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid is an anime series distributed by Kyoto Animation. The series revolves around  a young woman named Kobayashi, a programmer working for a coding company. After an especially grievous work day, Kobayashi goes out to drink; following a couple rounds, Kobayashi finds herself in the forest where she discovers a dragon. The dragon had a sword thrust in its side; despite the dragon's warning that attempting to remove the sword would drive her insane, Kobayashi successfully removes it, which the dragon interpret as her having a lack of faith. Out of gratitude, the dragon becomes her maid. Yeah? How can the dragon even hope to do that? By shapeshifting, of course! Basically, the dragon transforms itself into a young human-like girl named Tohru.

Now, there are several aspects of the anime that I liked. Take the characters. Each character has something that is likable; their personalities are interesting, or dare I say adorable. Really, the animation style in general is adorable. It comes off as soft and fluffy. Definitely the most adorable of the cast of characters is Kanna, a young dragon girl who was exiled from her world after playing one too many pranks. Additionally, there are several heartwarming moments throughout the series. Sometimes the characters would share their thoughts on society with each other, to the point that I felt that there was a genuine bond forming between the characters.

As much as I love the series, there are a few issues that I have with the anime. Namely only two issues. For one, the relationship between Kanna and Riko Saikawa, a human girl. She is introduced in episode 4 of the show when Kanna began to attend school. Saikawa is originally hostile towards Kanna because of all the attention she's receiving for her adorableness, but then she quickly befriends her and develops feelings for her. Now that in itself isn't the problem; the problem lies in episode 6. In that episode, Saikawa invites Kanna to her house to play. Alright, good so far. But then things take a slightly disturbing turn... the scenes between the two girls are disturbingly provocative. A simple game of Twister ends up with Kanna rubbing herself against Saikawa, culminating in Saikawa fainting. And then when Saikawa admitted that she loved Kanna so much so that she wanted to marry her, Kanna gets on top of Saikawa, pinning her to the floor. I understand that Kanna isn't the exact same age as Saikawa (as dragons live longer lives and age differently from humans), but Kanna physically looks young by human standards. Now while I don't find anything wrong with their relationship - as I find it adorable - I would've liked it more if they didn't engage in that type of behavior.

The other problem is with Lucoa's relationship with Shouta. In short, Quetzalcoatl, or Lucoa for short, was an Aztec dragon that lost her divine status after she did a scandalous act with her sister whilst drunk. Shouta is a young boy who comes from a family of mages. Shouta was trying to prove his worth by summoning a demon. Lucoa notices this, and she enters in through a portal, thus making Shouta believe that she was a demon. What is problematic with their relationship is how Lucoa seems to try to make advances on Shouta, despite the fact that he is an underage boy. Heck, there is one instance where Lucoa offers Shouta her body in order to not go back home. While I do find these scenes funny here, at the same time, I can see how some could feel uncomfortable with these scenes. I mean Lucoa is practically over thousands of years old, has a well-endowed buxom, sometimes wears skimpy clothing...she is really a figure of lust, so it's no wonder why Shouta thinks she's a succubus.

Overall, I really loved this series, and I would recommend it. As for the manga adaptation, while I feel that the anime outdoes it in style and themes, I would also suggest reading it, but I will point out that there are several differences between mediums. For instance, there was a dragon girl introduced in the manga that was adapted out of the anime adaptation, several story lines were altered, and there is a slightly more provocative tone within. But it is a pretty good read, so I would recommend reading it if you've already seen the anime adaptation.

Different and complete in emotions, sometimes it makes you laugh, sometimes it makes you cry ... For those who pay attention to the story and the messages it passes, you will have a pleasant surprise, it is not just a comedy. It's a pearl !!!! Wonderful.

I've got to get this out of the way from the start, I loved this show, from episode 2 I was hooked, each character is fun and lovable while still feeling like real people even though most aren't.

Though I love this show deeply there are some element of the show that would give me puse if someone asked me if I would recomend this show to people. The biggest reason I would think about recommending the show, would be the sexualisation of alot of the characters, especially one whose whole character is that she has a realy nice body and belive me as a straight male the jokes and fan survice did make me love the show more but also gave it a NSFW tag.

Now after watching all of the episodes I felt a bit sad that it had ended and I think that's a realy good sign that a show was good at making not only a great story but great characters as well and for any fan of this show I 100% recomend to watch the Valentine's day OVA they put out, it's only subbed but it's a really good epilogue to the story and is the length of a full episode so please watch it if you haven't and you enjoyed the show.

In the end if you want a show to make you smile and aren't fazed by fan survice then yes watch this now.

PS. the dub for this show is realy good for those who want to watch it in english.

Slice of life

You know it's not everyday an anime can surprise someone. Kobayashi San no maid dragon is one of them. A nice change of pace from the normal or suspenseful kind using blood, and gore. Far from it. A tale of a woman named Kobayashi who befriends reluctantly two dragons in human form. Torhu, and Kanna. Torhu is a kind, yet often confused female dragon who believes that humans are worthless to the extreme. All except for her room mate employer Kobayashi since they first met. Torhu doesn't know why she is so different from the rest of the human race but mostly for the simple reason her benefactor is not estranged from the fact that she is a dragon.

The tale moves along in friendly ways when another younger dragon named Kanna comes into the picture. A much smaller, and innocent female who likes school, and her new friend who she faced off with on the school grounds for being too obnoxious to her class mates. Since then they became inseparable. There is a lot of questions in both Torhu, and Kanna's mind as to why Kobayashi has not said a thing to anyone or why their new friend is not afraid of them. They learn, live, experience, and often make mistakes along the way for which Torhu starts to realize just how important life is. Even it is being a maid for Kobayashi.

I think it is a wonderful series for its original story, plot, theme, and of course the enticing opening music to the episodes. It fits in our daily lives as to why we go through life with so many obstacles barring our way. Torhu, and Kanna must as well if they are to fit in without their horns, and tail to get in the way of success as well as trying to tame or rather domesticate another dragon who loves to play video games. A dragon named Fanfir. A legendary creature with vast power who would love nothing more than to wipe out our existence. The only thing that stops him is video games.

Trials, and tribulations follow these dragons where ever they go, and Torhu loves Kobayashi with every ounce of her immortal soul. So does Kanna in her own way. It teaches about friendship, love, sadness, mistakes, and successes in tiny amounts but it is enough for these dragons to continue on living among us even for a short while. Highly recommended to all ages young and old.

I started this anime and fell in love with it very quickly with its upbeat fun and humor. It has positive encouraging messages.

A cute and memorable show

At first, this anime might seem like a stupid show with a bunch of fanservice so that all the fans can continue to watch it, and in some ways it is. But I was surprised how much heart this anime has. It explored subjects that you wouldn't expect in this show. Like if it 's worth spending time with someone if you know that the person will die long before you do. The friendships feel much more realistic because of that. Fafnir and Takiya weren't too friendly to each other which made their relationship realistic. And even though Kobayashi and Tohru's relation was much more friendly, it made sense with their characters. The shorter scenes also helped the story to feel more realistic. Cause not every action you do is going to affect the next.

But even though most of the characters felt very realistic, they all had character flaws, motivations, multisided and character development, there were two characters that I wasn't fond of. Those characters were Lucoa and Shouta. They both, at least in the middle, seemed to only have one purpose, being fanservice, which is something that I didn't like in this show. The reason for Shouta's existence is to be harassed by Lucoa, at least it felt like that to me. And it's a shame cause in the beginning and end, Lucoa was a pretty okay character. She wasn't just tits on two legs, but she actually had a personality, relative to Shouta who didn't.

Other than that, the rest was pretty great. The music (especially the OP and ED) was great, the artstyle was fantastic (except for some of the backgrounds) and in general, the show is one of the funniest out there (from what I have seen)

So to sum up this show, I would say that it is a funny show with great animation and a lot of heart. It's a 8/10 from me

Fish-out-of-Water Hijinks

This review will be extremely short, not because the show lacks anything worth dedicating a detailed analysis on, but because no matter how much I elaborate on why it works, at the core of it all, the reasoning is so simple that it's almost unfathomable to think that so many creators are missing this key ingredient in their works. Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid is FUN, plain and simple.

That's it, that's the magical formula. It turns out that after all the overzealous attempts at trying to make "mature/2deep4u" anime to be accepted by a general audience, all it really takes to win people over, in the end, is less cynicism and more unadulterated fun.

Using the fish-out-of-water foundation for its story, the show introduces us to a bevy of mythical dragons that take on human forms. After stumbling around in a forest in a drunken stupor from one too many shots, 9-to-5 salary woman Kobayashi finds herself coming face-to-face with one of these dragons. Fast forward later and this dragon, named Tooru, is now her maid, and the rest is history.

What I love about this show is just how whimsical and lighthearted it treats everything. And when I say everything, I mean that quite literally. Cannibalism, excessive stalking, casual homosexuality, threatening to murder someone, devouring small critters like little morsels, causing mass destruction; every bizarre situation you could think of, the show manages to flip it into a hilariously "out there" situation. There isn't a moment that passes by where I wasn't laughing at the nonsense that occurred on screen. This is a show that effortlessly flies through slapstick scenarios like it's second nature, made all the funnier when accounting for the dragons themselves.

Each dragon has their own quirks and mannerisms. From the adorable goth loli Kanna to the grimdark stick-in-the-mud, Fafnir. What the show does so well is essentially taking all these simplistic personalities, dumping them into a container, shaking it up and just sitting back and view the kind of interaction that would occur when their personalities collide. It's the same method shows like K-On adopted, but here, I think it's even more successful, as it doesn't remain relatively grounded, instead choosing to give birth to the weirdest outcomes possible. As is the case with Fafnir, who, despite his stoic persona, turns out to be a hardcore otaku in the making, or with Kanna who exudes an extreme amount of enthusiasm, but with a facial expression that's complimented with a thousand-yard stare.

This anime is essentially a slice of life with kooky characters all being placed within a proverbial pinball machine, where every episode results in left-field eccentricities and small moments of endearment.

And really, there's nothing else for me to say here. If you've grown tired of all the bleak, overly-serious melodrama and just want FUN in your anime again, this title is a must-watch. A show that carves something out for itself without all the overt cynicism usually associated with the "cute girls" trend.

An entertaining, cute and hilarious anime you do not want to miss!

This show is mind blowing. It combines cute slice-of-life with fantasy and mythology, and makes it WORK. I found the main character, Kobayashi to be relatable, and her friends Tohru and Kanna to be adorable. I definitely recommend this anime toghose out there that like dragons, and don't mind pevert jokes (the one part of it I didn't like) and fantasy action.

Maid Dragon

After the events of Haruhi and K-ON, Kyoto Animation has been somewhat of a lost soul, trying to find its place in the world. Their newest title, Maid Dragon, manages to establish itself by rolling the clock back and going back to their origins. It has the vibe of something that may have been animated in 2005, and that's exactly what makes it so unique in the current harem and superpower environment.

It also has a clear objective and never strays from it in an aimless attempt to please everyone, unlike many of their more recent games. Despite having a cast of evil dragons, it never plays around with drama and never focuses on action and explosions. It's absurd. It's soothing. When it tries, it can even be a little endearing. Did I also mention that Tohru is quite adorable?

Some people might cringe and sigh as soon as they read the series synopsis. The mix of maids and dragons doesn't seem like it would make for a very interesting scene, or anything that would take more than a few seconds to consider. Every possible object has, or will eventually, get some kind of series with adorable females randomly slapped upon it. People are conditioned to be pessimistic by modern anime.

The artwork of Kyoto Animation is great in general, but in Maid Dragon's instance, it really shines. The anime is perfect for screenshotting because of the adorable and funny expressions that the characters-especially Tohru and Kamui-make, even though there aren't many sequences that stand out for their animation. Tohru has incredibly detailed eyes that highlight her dragon nature without ever coming across as blatantly unnatural. The anime aims to create a fluffy, peaceful environment, and bright colors and smooth edges help to achieve this goal. Some of my issues with KyoAni's other titles, like Hibike Euphonium, stemmed from the fact that they always seemed so drab and boring.

I honestly loved this anime. I think Kobayashi and Tohru's relationship was pretty much the best but I do wish the two became a couple like, it would've been better if they were a Yuri couple since Tohru did admit her love to Kobayashi after all! I even loved when every time Kobayashi and her friend Makoto got drunk, they always talk about otaku related stuff and he turns into a complete goofball with glasses & bunny front teeth. Man the pair of them made me laugh so much! I seriously need a drunk conversation with another otaku to lift my spirits from reality hahaha!

Kanna was so adorable too, I normally don't like cutesy girls but she was definately the proper cutey for me!

If you haven't seen this anime, you have to check this out! It'll make you laugh, cry and be intrigued by the characters!

Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid

Kobayashi is an ordinary office worker who one day has a bit of a shock; she looks out from her balcony and sees a huge dragon! This dragon then transforms into an attractive woman who tells Kobayashi that her name is Tohru. It turns out that this isn't the first time they met; Kobayashi had previously seen the dragon during a drunken walk in the mountains during which she invited the dragon to stay. Tohru starts acting as Kobayashi's maid. Tohru's methods are a little unusual and some of the food she cooks disturbs Kobayashi… notably dishes made from her own tail. Over the course of the series more dragons are introduced and they all get up to a series of amusing events.

This light-hearted anime series was a lot of fun; the story isn't particularly deep but there are plenty of laughs to be had and a good collection of characters. It was refreshing to have a series like this where the protagonist is an adult with normal adult problems rather than the stereotypical high school student. The animation is pretty good and the characters are well designed. There isn't too much in the way of fan service apart from the obligatory beach episode one dragon whose human form has a rather amble chest; this is played for laughs though. Overall I'd definitely recommend this to anybody looking for a decent comedy anime; especially for fans of 'monster girls'.

Just like the first season

When you want an anime that has just about everything, this is the one. From last season we all got to see Tohru rise to a position of being totally in love with Kobayashi who is her boss and housemate.

Now in the second season, the rise keeps on going. A new dragon Illulu has shown her true colors since her ancient past has finally been set behind her so she can move on. IN the middle is still Fafnir, Quetzacoatl, and Kanna and finally Elma who make up this wonderfully fun anime.

A group of great characters, music, humor, and Saikawa who is completely head over heels for Kanna. This series offers it all along with a moral message in each episode. A message that hopefully drills into the young minds of today who seem to have lost something on their path of life.

Kobayashi's No Maid Dragon is quite popular during these times along with another fantastic series called, That time I was reincarnated as a Slime, which is now in its second season. Between the two there isn't enough fun to be had in just half an hour. You want more.

I give the second season ten out of ten, simply because I enjoy its lighthearted approach to every day problems. You will too. Have fun.

Not bad actually. Definitely lacking something but it grew on me. Interesting side characters.

There something on this doesnt connect with me (until halfway episode 2). Dont get me wrong, it was okay, average to be fair. Cute characters design and good sound scores - very french centric. The voice castings were just okay for me, nothing interesting but just average - not very compelling performances. Meanwhile, the storyline was okay as well, generic and something that i used to watch from many other animes in comedy/slice of life/fantasy genres. Hence, very repetitive and highly used formula that usually works except for this (and some other animes). Maybe, its because of the audio quality or due to interesting choice of using boring main character which gives out a very moody and lazy tone-ish, which grew on me as it progress (though the progression was a bit slow, not that it matters to me). For me, everything gotten better after introducing more characters. The interaction between side characters was the main reason i was invested in watching this anime till the end.

In short, its pretty generic in all aspects but i do find myself enjoying it. Loving the animation style but it is just doesnt work collectively well together with the such lovely and mellow patissiere-esque french sound scores, the voice castings and the storyline. But i started tolerating all of it, after mid episode 2 (maybe due to introduction of interesting side character and even more characters afterwards. For me, the side characters seems to be written amazingly compared to the main characters. Great intro song and cute ending song. Recommended, keep it in mind that its a slow burner so be patience.

This is one of my top rated animes. Definitely has one of my favorite characters ever made in the series named, Ilulu. Yes the name of the anime might sound weird if you don't know about the anime but it's really entertaining I would suggest this series for young adults and older.

This series is really entertaining to watch and laugh at, it has crazy and exciting episodes some of them is really exciting. Many characters are shown/introduce in the show with many of them being super interesting and having many special personalities, so I'm sure if you watch the show you will find a character that you connect with or maybe become your favorite!

The Show is About A bored intriveted woman who is a programer. One day she saves a dragon's life and feels indebt to her. The dragon takes the form of a human and decideds to be her maid. Wacky antics ensue. There are also other dragons. Kobayshasi is often the straight man. She is the normal one who is kid of bored. She is a bit of an alcohollic. She is in love with Tohur but she is a bit in the closset. Tohru is the dragon that decided to be her maid. She is super upbeat, and madly in love with Kobyashi. There is Kanna she is a kid by dragon standards but she is thousdads of years old. She doesn't talk much. Her best freind is Sakawa. Sakwaw is a rich bratty girl who is in love with Kanna. There is Fafiner. He is stoic and seriuous buty addicted to video games. His roomate is Makato. He is Kpobayshi's coworjer sho also likes video games. There is Luoca She has giant brest. She is a ex goddess and she is easygoing. A little boy summoned her and she is always hugging all over him. That makes him unconfortable. Thats pretty much the show. Its heartwarming, cute, and funny.

Kobayashi is an office worker who was drunk in the train on her way home. In results of missing stations, Kobayashi ended up near a mountain and met Tohru there.

Kobayashi soon hires Tohru as her personal Maid, soon Tohru's dragon friends come and tries to find her as they slowly learn and adapt to the human world.

The characters are likeable and memorable, i dont like the fanservice though.

A very adorable anime aside from the creepy fanservice.

New experience for me

Normally I watch action and adventure type anime but this is totally new for me, I watched couple of rom-coms anime but this is totally different, but still very enjoyable. I recommend to watch it but I strongly recommend watcher age 16+ cause some characters design are some body reveled and some characters design are definitely not kids friendly.
