Too Annoying to Watch

Warning: Spoilers
I did stop watching this movie before it's ending so please regard this review in that context. The deal breaker for me was the scene cuts. The movie showed brief interviews / statements from VHS collectors. When changing scenes between these they showed a feature unique to VHS. When you engage the fast forward or rewind buttons while in play mode the video image is broken up. It is also accompanied by a "Squib" noise. Something I don't miss now that we have superior technology for viewing. A documentary should have a mission statement. This lets the viewer know the significance of the topic. I.E. how it is relevant to culture, economic, technology or social factors. This movie fails to do so. It is nothing more than a group of fetishists explaining their perversion. VHS was a global changer is terms of both business and society. It put an end to the theater's monopoly on viewing as well as the tyranny of the TV broadcast schedules. It is a grandfather to Facebook, twitter, Instagram ... Without it there would be no Netflix and chill.
