Season 3 started off decent but ended poorly
xethannelsen8 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
So I'm gonna be reviewing the entire season 3 on this episode since it's the last of the season.

I was enjoying the beginning half of the season and it sort of felt like the movies at times with being self-aware it was a horror show. It was decently acted and kept my attention it was pretty solid.

I think it started going down hill around the midpoint of the series. I hated that there too much heavy implications it's this person. I think it cycled though like half the remaining cast in the last three episodes or at least it felt that way. I also felt some of the kills didn't fit the Scream formula. It also went to some stereotypical teenage drama parts with a hint of horror.

Then the final twist wasn't much of a twist the person who looks and would have been my guess as the killer from episode 1, despite it changing every so often, was the killer. That's no fun at all. The emotionally and socially distant person is the killer what a not predictable twist. What makes the Scream movies so good is their ability to keep you guessing the entire time and to have the twist be a side character that comes out of nowhere. This was not that it was a main character that has always felt sketchy the entire time.

They should have at least finished the timeline of the other seasons and then hinted at this season as like a final scene or post-credits scene. The last two seasons may have not had Ghostface but had the spirit of Scream going the entire time. This had spirit but not nearly as good writing.

I give a 4/10 for the season because the ending was bad and had some bad moments as it was gearing up for the end. What earns it a 4/10 is that I was enjoying the season for the first half and I was on the edge of my seat the first three episodes and then I finished it just because I wanted to know how it ended.

Wasn't expecting it
EpimetheusA121 July 2020
I must admit, after a grueling season I wasn't expecting the killer to be who they were- although very surprising, I found that I was too frustrated by the end to truly appreciate the twist. This could have all been avoided if they'd gone to the police in the first place. And the twist with Marcus... I just... I don't understand...

Hated the twist

Warning: Spoilers
C'mon?! The big twist is that Deion was actually Marcus and for that reason Jay was pissed and killed everybody? Beth was bad just 'cause she was bad? That's some weak writing right there. I'd rather they'd finished up the Emma's story. It was better written for sure.

Rubbish

Scream season 3 was the worst out of the whole series. They should have kept the cast from season 1 and 2

I guess you can end it like that.

Warning: Spoilers
For the whole season, or reboot if some like to call it, I didn't think it was that bad. It was fairly entertaining. I kept guessing which characters were the killers. The one thing I thought the show did well was making believe that some characters are the killers but ended up not being the killers, even if there were some hints, lines of dialogue, or minor actions that seem suspicious.

For this final episode, it was all right. I thought it wrapped up the storyline just nicely.

I was incredibly shocked when Deion revealed that he's actually Marcus, but I thought the flashback scene of the young twins switching Halloween costumes was a bit cheap for an idea like a scene that's cut & saved for later so the audience won't know that information until the big reveal. From one of the previous episodes, is it just me or didn't the real Deion who got head-stabbed by the hook man cry out his own name to the real Marcus who ran away from the crime scene? Was that continuity or am I just imagining falsely?

For the killer reveals, I had a feeling it was Jamal and Beth the entire story.

I had a feeling Jamal was one of the killers because he was simply just around the narrative and not part of the Deadfast Club. Plus, the topic "Deion" and Jamal bring up every now & then throughout the season led me to easily believe there's gonna be some brother-related twist in the finale episode. The fifth episode almost threw me off. I will acknowledge that.

So while Jamal was the sad-motive type of killer, Beth is the kill-for-thrills type of killer. Doesn't that sound familiar?

I honestly wasn't that surprised Beth was one of the killers. I sensed that her kills on Shane and Amir were more personal as those two characters interacted more intimately with her. Also, what better way to bring more surprises by having one of the killers be from the original detention? Wait a minute. Did she send a video message of Jamal held hostage to herself?

As for Kym, I wish she came sooner in the climax. She just got into Beth's funeral car and then...doesn't come back until the last six minutes of the episode. I get that Marcus & Liv facing off Beth themselves was suppose to be a callback to the solo Sydney Prescott climatic moments. I just wished Kym came much sooner.

The entire scene of Beth explaining her motives was very lengthy. In contrast, I will make this note short.

The ending was quick, but not bad.

By the way, how's Officer Reynolds? Is he doing well? Is he still in a hospital bed as I review this?

Final twist? More like awful twist.

Ugh, Tyga must be probably the worst non actor, singer whatever. The plot, characters, dialog were awful. The only reason I've watched this was Keke Palmer.

Warning: Spoilers
Really? They really went with the old "I like horror so I must be a psychopath" trope?

Honestly it's kind of insulting. Whatever happened to the ol' "Don't blame the movies!" mantra? Doesn't It seem antithetical for a HORROR show to blame HORROR movies for its psychopath main villain?

Way to botch an otherwise fine season. Can we go back to Lakewood now?

A Forgettable Ending for a Forgettable Season
oxygenrequired4 September 2019
This season was bland. Some of the acting is sketchy, and some of the castings were pretty poor. The ending's twist is done very poorly, and some of the only good characters ruined. This season did not fare well against the previous season, which was done much better.

A bit of a stretch

While I guess the ending was a bit of a twist, it felt like a bit of a stretch to make it all work out.

Meh Warning: Spoilers
The only likeable person in the show is the killer. Left me annoyed when the final girls ganged up on her and took her out.

The Scream-franchise uses the final girl-concept, as the killer changes between films and seasons. But if you're gonna do so, you gotta make sure the audience is actually rooting for her, rather than for the killer.

Bored out of my mind
grahamcracker-8775822 March 2023
Just an awful end to an awful series. I really disliked the two final girls a lot, one is just the most annoying person of all time and the other purposely went out of her way to be as suspicious as possible. I really had to force myself to watch this just so I can say I've seen all the scream content. I have a lot of criticisms with the first two seasons and even think this show did some things better, such as the ghostface costume(despite it looking really cheap) actually seeing weapons penetrate bodies, and I do overall think it was shot better, tho I wasn't a fan of the color grading. The overall writing of this show is what really killed it for me. No actual common sense, or critical thinking was ever used.

Best Scream Season So Far! Extremely Underrated!
ryanshortfilms12 July 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I had zero hope in this series when a reboot of the first 2 seasons was announced. I wasn't happy about new characters and the last season not being wrapped up, but when it was announced Roger Jackson & Ghostface would return to Scream I didn't care as much. I wanted to give the season a chance but I didn't think the show would have gotten released after everything that went on behind the scenes. I gave Season 3 a chance when it came out for it's 3 night binge event. I'll tell you, that was one of the most fun TV events in history! The reason this is the best Season is not because Ghostface is back, but because it's an awesome, original, fun, thrilling, intense, and smart story! Brett Mathews wrote a great Season and added a lot of freshness to the series that has been lacking in recent years. The kills, acting, writing, cinematography, editing, and tone are all improved from previous Seasons. There are some directors from the last 2 Seasons I wish MTV would have brought back, but it's cool. I still prefere the characters from the first 2 Seasons, but the new characters are a surprising welcome! Overall, awesome Season! Tony Todd Vs Ghostface fight was the best! I hope the show gets renewed or Blumhouse makes a Scream 5. Fans still deserve better though.
