It was like something a high school student put together the weekend before it was due to be submitted, Then the teacher gave it a c-. Dont waste your time.

Didn't get there
roboticusdrake15 December 2018
Unfortunately this movie is let down by a few major points. The main characters are competent but not engaging. The secondary characters are downright unbelievable, but Vernon Reed is gold, as expected. The tropes are obvious, the twists are tacky, the violence is neither gratuitous nor shocking...it's very pedestrian considering how hard it tries. The effort is to be admired, because production values are high, and buffs will love a few references to better films. Aaaaaand I just watched the final shot - I will never raise my rating above 2 stars.

TERRIBLE WASTE IF TIME
movieguy300030 July 2020
Bad acting, uninteresting characters, cringeworthy and not believable at all. This film has no heart or soul and evokes no emotion or feeling except the cringe factor. Sorry tried to support another bad Aussie film but the Aussies continue to prove that they cant stand up to the Americans. Sorry mate, 1 star for effort. But this is an amateur attempt at making a film. I've seen better short films. Suggest the director masters an excellent short film first.

'Landfall' Review (2020)
lut_e_lut2 January 2020
Warning: Spoilers
First of all I Loved 'Landfall' I really did think it was a good decent film its not perfect by all means but It was very engaging and left me wanting more. I personally thought Kristen Condon's (Maisey's Character) was Brilliant and well executed she felt real, it wasn't overplayed or underplayed for that matter and when she spoke It meant something, It felt real and honest. I thought Rob was good as well. Vernon Wells smashed it out of the park with his execution of Wexler. Tony Bonner was good as well, and the guy that played Paul (The Villain aka:- Bad guy) The location was simple but effective. The sound was a bit tinny in some area's but you got used to it, same with the lighting and grade of the film. I personally thought the ending was a tad bit weak in some area's I wish the VFX shot at the end looked better it did look cheesy and maybe should have got someone professional to work on and do it properly. It would of looked so much better. I was waiting for something else to be in the box I wasn't expecting it to be what it was and thought it was a bit weird but like I said all things I viewed and watched quickly and easily got used to it. I kinda wish it was answered more. Same with the idea that the two leading characters were there from the start being a Home Invasion it made sense but yeah felt a little weird with its execution but like I said got used to it fast. I thought the ending was nice with them at the beach and that beautiful shot.

Overall well done to all those involved and I give this film a solid and honest (7/10)

Thanks, Luke (Writer/Producer/Director)

Avoid at all cost.

This is a terrible attempt at making a movie. Could possibly be forgiven if it was their first attempt, otherwise they would be more suited working the KFC drive through window.

God Awful Movie, Apalling Acting
cairnduffbrad20 August 2022
I wish I could get back the minutes I wasted watching this terrible movie, alas, I can't. The director, actors and producers should be charged with a criminal offence for making this movie. Furthermore, the actors should be charge with "Obtain financial gain by deception". Should not be call "Landfall", should be called "Larceny", because they've stole precious minutes of my life. Avoid like the cyclone bearing down on this woeful movie. As a matter of fact, the cyclone is the best part of this movie, perhaps it would blow this movie off the screen.

Warning: Spoilers
Why would you EVER continuously let your captures loose?!?! They broke into your house and did a home invasion and raped your girl friend multiple times and you keep letting them go just so they can keep pointing a gun in your face and threatening your life...... such a stupid movie. Very very disappointing. Movies like this make me so angry. The director should be slapped....

Clever fun
rombles-926375 April 2020
I saw this in the cinema and loved it, although I remember being struck by one line which just didn't sit right with me at the time. I've just watched the DVD, and that line makes sense now - I must have just not heard it properly the first time. So, with that resolved, we are left with a clever, original film with more twists than.... well, not a tornado, let's go for the cyclone which anchors the film. Still lots of twists and turns in one of those. Well written, well made, and well worth taking the time to watch. I convinced my son to watch it with me - he tends not to trust my recommendations - but he was really impressed and enjoyed it too!

What a find this was
PropSuccess13 December 2018
I saw this at the cinema not expecting much. It was shot locally and with a micro budget but it looks like it was put together by seasoned pros. Everything looked the goods - camerawork, editing, music, pacing, story. Best of all was the story. The story is the winner here as it kept you guessing all the way to the end. There is a bit of mistaken identity going on by both characters and the audience along with some nice action bits and a touch of violence/torture to cap it all off. If we get more Aussie thrillers like this in future I will be very happy.

Landfall
sweetkmusic13 December 2018
Travis Bain's Landfall is a smart, at times funny thrill ride. With an interesting storyline, great acting and completely unexpected twists, I found this movie highly entertaining, especially being a smaller budget film. Produced locally in Far North Queensland, it shows that we have some amazing home-grown talent and I look forward to Travis' next big screen debut! A sneak peek of his short film, Starspawn: Overture and the feature film, Landfall had me excited about the future of film making in Australia. Definitely a movie to add to your "must watch" list.

Small budget surprise
strattonimnot22 March 2019
I really enjoyed this movie, filmed mainly in the confines of a small house in Far North Qld during a cyclone. You never knew what might happen next, a few mind games, splatter of comedic lines. and whats in that box! The ending was great, I didnt see that coming and really finished off this little gem well. I cant wait to see what will be the next film for Travis Bain.

Great movie on such a limited budget!
eel-877985 March 2018
We live less than ten minutes from where this thriller was filmed and thought we ought to see this movie at a local theatre as the director, Travis Bain was present and was available for a Q & A session at end of movie. Having gone in with 'not high' expectations, we were well entertained by an imaginative and entertaining script and cast of mostly 'newbies' alongside veteran Aussie actor Tony Bonner. The plot twists were not obvious either but really added immensely to the movie. Looking forward to future movies from this talented local director. Highly recommended.

Stumbles but delivers BIG TIME
GoQLD13 December 2018
Nice contained thriller with a good hook. Nice twists. The setup is immediate. The reveals keep coming. Lots of surprises but the best is saved for the end. AVOID SPOILERS before seeing this little gem. Loved seeing legends Tony Bonner and Vernon Wells supporting an indie film. I hope the writer director keeps pumping out quality like this. Two thumbs up.

Claustrophobic thriller
SunreelBro13 December 2018
Wow. What a fantastic little indie thriller. The story is so well set up with a terrific premise. It grabs you from the start and slowly ramps up the tension with one twist after another. Great characters and a great story supported by professional camerawork and excellent direction. I was blown away by how entertaining this movie was and I assume done on a small budget.

Move over Mr Tarantino!
estafox19 December 2018
Landfall. A very simple movie that explores conflicting points of view at a time where time diminishes more rapidly than you would hope. A fly on the wall, you observe as self righteousness is tossed between defence and offence against a storm of deflection and collective instinct. This movie does not have useless fluff to drive its story. It is extremely well written, directed, and acted to perfection.
