Now there shall be justice.

I had high hopes from this film since i saw the trailer and i wasn't disappointed at all. I saw this film on the first day of it's release and there are very less shows and even lesser people who wants to watch this film. And this is because another hindi film (veere di wedding) was released with this one. Unlike veere di wedding, bhavesh joshi was not promoted on a large scale and that is one of the reason's why people didn't knew much about it and maybe they thought that it might be some kind of low budget substandard film and it's better to avoid it. But trust me bhavesh joshi is relatable and believing, because it's what's happening all around us.

In my opinion, bhavesh joshi has a lot to offer in terms of story telling, action, including a bit of humor and one of the best chase sequences i have seen in bollywood movies. It's not a typical bollywood masala entertainer, rather it is an underrated gem which needs to be appreciated.

I would highly recommend you to watch this one because it helps the filmmakers to create more unique films and will also improve the standard of Indian cinema.

A wave of change in Indian cinema

With all the dumb things being shown in Indian movies, it was time that they bring out something new. When I saw the trailer, I was very eager to see the movie and the movie didn't disappoint me. It is a slow, well written start to a very good , maybe even awesome superhero movie series. Looks like India finally has a superhero. A hint of sequel has been given at the last when the title changes from Bhavesh Joshi to Bhavesh Joshi superhero. Nishikant kamat once again slays. Vikramaditya Motwane is seen bringing a change in the Indian cinema. But yes, this superhero, we don't really deserve. There are 20 shows a day running for a dumb movie like veere di wedding and just 4-5 shows for Bhavesh Joshi. This movie definitely needs to reach the audience.

A massively underrated movie that deserves a watch

Bhavesh Joshi is not your typical CGI studded superhero flick which is an achievement for the copycat bollywood. It explores the idea behind a hero and stays grounded till the end. The bike chase scene is visually stunning and so is the acting of Priyanshu Painyuli as Bhavesh.

But due to lack of proper marketing the movie didn't reach the audience and failed to create buzz. Hope it gets its due on Netflix

Plz vickram sir, make a sequel. Atleast a series for netflix!!

We, the indian audience did not treat well to this mind blowing super hero. When it comes to G-one or Krrish, the box office ruled. Even that bloody flying jaat took major attention of audience. sir, Plz will u forgive us and make a sequel or a series for this wonderful character? This genere should be protected. And u are the perfect craftman for that!

And Harshwardhan, u are the biggest hope in the industry. Just luved u man!!! Wish u all the best for ur career!!!

Class Apart!

Dear Vikramaditya Motwane,

I know that the number of people who are going to watch this movie in theatre is gonna be very low. But I want to let you know that you have made a masterpiece. Collections doesn't always justify that how much the movie was genuine.

I salute your genuine and honest effort in making this kind of pure cinema. We friends throughout felt that we are reading some kind of dark comics. The pace of movie was perfect.

The superhero was made by trial and error methods. By his hard work and not by some God gift. The reason of becoming him a superhero was totally justifiable. Apart from this, The background music, songs, acting, direction was perfect. No south indian kind of flying action. No murder of Physics. Awesome.

I also see the possibility of sequel, and I hope that you guys makes it.

Superb movie. Despite few ignoreable flaws, I will go with 10/10.

Guys, Go out and watch it in theatre and support such kind of cimena.

The superhero within everyone of us.

Corruption is pretty evident in the country, there is not hiding that, but how many times you felt to do something about it. When was the last time you wanted to stop someone breaking the traffic lights, burning of garbage on the streets or even tree cutting? These are some instances which I'm sure most of us have witnessed by now. Deep down we know that this isn't right, yet we fail to do something about it.

Bhavesh Joshi Superhero, directed by Vikramaditya Motwane is a dark, intense vigilante film, which is unlike the rest of the superhero films the country has seen. Starting out as a youtube channel called "Insaaf TV", our two heroes Siku and Bhavesh, set out to right the wrong. Inspired by the 2011 Anti-Corruption Movement, the duo set out to name and shame those who break the law, be it urinating on the walls or bunking school, Insaafers will find you. The trouble starts brewing when one of the friends uncovers a scandal involving the water mafia and gets killed, which leads to Siku donning the mask and becoming Bhavesh Joshi.

The film like our hero is flawed, too much time is spent on establishing the plot which makes the pacing of the film an issue in the first half. The editing feels pretty abrupt at times, which hampers the flow. However, there are a lot of positives too. Harshvardhan Kapoor is decent as Siku, there are some scenes where he feels out of his zone, particularly in the emotional ones but he is a hero we can root for. Priyanshu Painyuli, is a true find as Bhavesh, he steals every scene he is in and I hope to see him in more films. The background score by Amit Trivedi is thumping and suits the mood of the film. There are some excellent visuals in the film, particularly during the bike chase sequence, which is very thrilling.

At 155 minutes, Bhavesh Joshi feels stretched at times. Had it been crisper and taut, it would have been a terrific film. Still, it is a sincere film which will make you question your actions in your day to day lives, and create the urge of doing something about the system in place. What works for Bhavesh Joshi is that he is a very relatable character, you can see a million of Indians in him. He is what everyone wanted to be at some points in our lives.

"Democracy mein aukaat sabki hoti hai, bas humein ladna nahi chhodna chaiye"

I felt inspired by the film, I hope you will be too.

India's answer to vigilante movies.

Bhavesh Joshi Superhero is a brilliant attempt by Vikramaditya Motwane to tackle the ineffective or struggling genre of Bollywood. Bhavesh Joshi is not like any other Bollywood movie in this genre. It is realistically made with a very good screenplay and direction. The technical aspects like cinematography and choreography was pure art. Bhavesh Joshi is one of the breakout movie of the year and for Harshvardhan Kapoor. Sad it was a box office bomb and people didn't watch it.

the best vigilante superhero movie i ever saw...

The story of this movie is incredibly well written. and shows the ground reality problem Indian citizens face everyday from politicians to government officers and how media houses portrays anyone. Some scene of this movie are beautifully captured. the best thing about this movie is they shows every detail how a superhero and his mask develop and involve.

Realistic, unique, emotional and interesting. Nice Characterization! Good effort! However, low budget restricts the story plot's canvas.

Hero Paida nahi hota, banta hai.- Super Cool film!

Director Vikramaditya Motwane is back after a well attempted film Trapped which was released last year. The Harshvardhan Kapoor starrer film is under the production house of Phantom. Written and directed by Motwane, this is an action+drama of an Indian Superhero, called Bhavesh Joshi, who fights against wrong.

It is a tale of two friends, who are inspired from a party to getting justice. And ended up making 'Insaaf Duo'. They make videos of people doing wrong things, & then upload them on social media. One of them gets settled with his job. The other one is still doing to save his country and countrymen. One day a case has been come to him about water crisis. How he will solve it, or what this case is bringing to him and his partner, is the story of this film.

Phantom production always brings to us something fresh. This is not a marvel or DC film, where we can see some superhero flying. Here we see a common man fighting for all common men. Water crisis is the biggest crime one can ever do. I mean, here there is no problem of that. But I'm sure this film is surely based on some facts. To understand what this type of crisis is, and how normal people are affected to this, you have to see this film. I am thankful to the makers, for showing this crime on celluloid.

Harshvardhan Kapoor is superb. This film is his true debut film. He is the perfect choice of Sikku in this film. Priyanshu and Ashish give solid support. Shreiyah Sabharwal looks stunning. Nishikant and other badmen deliver good performances.

What I like the most, is background score. Though, there are not any song in the film. Except two in the background. Chavanprash sounds cool to me. Qasam Kha Li is suitable in the flow. But, hat's off for the subtle background score in the entire film. No high, no low, to the mark!

Overall, this film is surely an one time watch. Chase sequences are damn cool. The entire climax portion is superb, too. People, who are watching this film over Veere, are generally boys. They will surely remember Harsh's avtaar for a longer time. 'Hero paida nahi hota, banta hai.' Thumps up for the real life superhero. Go for it.

It worked and didn't, at the same time

Indian Superhero Films can be counted on fingers. Given the number of Films released every year, a majority of them only deal with Love and Marriages or the new found obsession with Biopics which Bollywood is marinating in.

The earlier superheroes born in India and that convinced people of this genre started with Mr.India, later continued by Shaktimaan; taking Indian Telivision by a storm. Some other less known heroes were Karma, or can I also count Shehensha by the legendary Amitabh Bachchan ? : P

The early 2000s gave rise to the Roshan Family's pet projects. Koi Mil Gaya wasn't a superhero film, rather it was a copied concept, but it was very well executed and in that story, nobody knew, were lying the seeds of Krish. Honestly, Krish was more original than Koi Mil Gaya and that was the time when Hritik Roshan was ruling the screens ( major courtesy : Dhoom 2 ). Krish captured the imagination of young kids of that time and put a benchmark for this genre in India.

Immediately after that, Nolan taught the world what Cinema, and Superhero can be. The Batman series broke all the rules, formed new ones and completely redefined the imagination. Hollywood viewership grew at a massive rate in India, and since then be it DC or Marvel, India serves as a prominent destination for their release.

The other big Superhero Film after Krish was SRK's dream project Ra.One. Since it was produced by the actor himself, he tried to put anything and everything in that one Film. I am also sceptical as to why he chose Anubhav Sinha to direct the Film. His earlier Film was Tum Bin and I clearly have no knowledge of him directing a good film at that time ( he recently broke the exception with Mulk ). There were video games released, promotions at full throttle, but still the Film sank. The reason I think it did, is because Superhero in an Indian landscape after the Batman franchise had become a tough task for the portrayal. This genre demands great VFX. That too if managed, further demands the authenticity. The vigilante concept was done to death till then. How then, we give rise to a Superhero, how do we show the need of one ?

Sorry to arrive late, but here enters Vikramaditya Motwane. He starts his film with the infamous anti corruption movement of Anna Hazare, and very quickly moves forward with the death of it. The story starts with three friends ( clichéd three ), one being a total romanticists crusader of anti corruption feeling. The other two being realists. Good; contrast achieved in the story. But is contrast enough for conflict ? In this case the conflict was less convincing for me personally, but the only one who could dare to even try and pull this off is only and only Motwane. And hands down I have become a huge fan of him. Just look at his Filmography: Udaan, Lootera, Trapped and now 'The' Sacred Games.

But coming back to the Film, one thing that pissed me off was one particular scene where he takes us into flashback to justify the position of the character (the place he starts living in). Flashbacks have been used for that purpose only but that is a poor form of screenplay. The intelligent use of flashback happens when the maker shows the audience what they missed to notice, which was important for the story, which was also meant to be missed at first viewing. That creates suspense and the gravity towards the story. The Justification - Flashback just spoonfeeds the audience, taking them as dumb. But that was just one scene, and I shouldn't be so harsh. But I want to. Because I want Motwane to make masterpieces.

Meanwhile the casting was almost perfect, the best choice being Harshvardhan, a new unexplored face. We are so used to seeing a 50 year old Khan making us belive forcefully that they are in their 20s. The supporting actors were also superbly placed, the best being Ashish Verma, but I fear for him being typcasted as he played a similar character in TVF inmates. Coming to the music, I don't know why Amit Trivedi's music is becoming so pale. I don't know where the magic has gone and I feel so sad about it. Plus I want to scream and ask Motwane, were the songs necessary ? Imagine Batman Begins having a song and Christian Bale dancing to beats like " Tere Chumme Mein Chawanprash Hai ". WTF ! There were no songs in Trapped and I think Bhavesh Joshi also didn't needed those.

Meanwhile, Nishikant Kamat simply failed. One famous concept which Nolan professed further though his films was making the antagonist powerful. But here, even if he was, it didn't appear on screen. It is hard to believe that he couldn't have got a better villain for his Film. Here his casting failed.

One underdog of the film is the cinematographer Siddharth Diwan. His treatment of every shot was marvelous, so were the colors he provided.

To conclude, superhero genre will always be difficult to make in India because the standards have been set by the west. Kudos for the attempt. Something really convincing is needed to plant the plot in the Indian landscape. That was one reason why the whole story of Dhoom 3 was set in Chicago. The city provides the landscape for the required visuals. Though Dhoom 3 wasn't a superhero movie but I think the makers thought it was one : p

All the best to Ayan Mukherjee now for Bhramhastra, but I seriously don't have any hopes from Dharma. It can't match what Phantom does.

Bhavesh Joshi, ek bar dekhne layak to hai yaar : )

Watch it for the idea.

Though superhero movies in India are few and far between, Bhavesh Joshi Superhero is something cut from a different cloth. Grounding characters in the jam-packed lanes of Mumbai, it's a story of two best friends who are idealist to a fault. After turning vigilantes for capping petty crimes like public urination, garbage littering in the neighborhood, the boys end up knocking on the wrong door of a widespread mafia. As for the plot, this is all you need to know. After all, the charm of movie lies in how things unfold when the real deal is handed over. Speaking of the cast, the plain-faced Harshvardhan Kapoor seems to be an okay choice, but it's Priyanshu Painyuli who seems natural in his role. But as is the case in such kind of movies, it is the idea which is more appealing. Director Vikramaditya Motwane handles the subject with depth and the action scenes are some of the best which you have seen in recent times in Bollywood. But, just like its characters are idealist to a fault, Bhavesh Joshi Superhero too becomes indulgent with its own idea. Overlong in laying the setup (as this is kind of an origin movie), Bhavesh Joshi loses some momentum which it gathers in the first half and thus, ends up becoming the sum of its part. Nevertheless, it is a satisfying watch which scores more highly then the run of the mill stuff Bollywood produces to rake in big box office collection. Watch it for the idea and perhaps you'll end up admiring the effort.

Bollywood answer to superhero movies

I wonder why such movies are not promoted enough, could have easily missed this owning to mind-dumbing bollywood movies released along side. First things first, i think Bhavesh Joshi is the first decent superhero movie made by Bollywood, which can be worthy of comparing with Hollywood. Movie style is loosely based on how DC movies are, and draws some inspiration from Batman Begins, however the script and story is pretty good. Acting is decent, background scores are not that great, but still ok( maybe we are just Hans Zimmer far away from a awesome superhero movie.) You might feel script is little bloated, and some sequence were out of place, but other than that its totally worth the watch. And no, its not a ripoff of kickass.

Superhero movie indeed

The theme and subject of the movie was outstanding. This should be the concept of a real superhero movie. Acting of harshvardhan Kapoor was really below average. Overall I can say that Bollywood doesn't deserve this type of subject, hence they will not value this.

Movie of the year for Bollywood.

The box office income is not justifying this movie at all. This is kind of dark vigilante superhero type movie. Great directing, acting, editing and story telling. This movie should not stop here. There must be more sequels.

This movie almost gave me the feel of the Hollywood movie "KickAss". I hav give 10 of out 10 as this kind of movie need more support like this.

They Tried.

Bollywood does get points for at least attempting the genre, but lets face it, they haven't quite got it right yet. Everything on sight is so...small compared to American superhero fare. The hero can barely fight, the car chase scene was weak, and there wasn't much of a resolution. The movie was tediously long and I still don't know why Bollywood INSISTS on have an unnecessary song and dance number in every film. Very distracting. There'll probably be a sequel; hopefully, they get that one right.

Sincere apologies to the makers on behalf of Indian audience!

Indian audience is crazy about Marvel and DC movies and that shows in Box office numbers..and we often have this habit of saying, 'When will Bollywood come up with such quality?'

And when we are presented with this masterpiece, we choose Veere di Wedding over Bhavesh Joshi! Indian audience don't deserve Bhavesh Joshi. As the phrase from Batman goes..he's the hero Gotham deserves, but not the one it needs right now. Hence, as the caption goes, I apologise to the makers of this movie that we as audience are not mature enough to understand this masterpiece.

Special comments regarding Harshvardhan - dude, keep it up. Please don't get into commercial crappy stuff that other actors are pulling off! Hope you read this.

Comments for makers - It would be great to see Bhavesh Joshi as web series!

Cheers!
