Lady Gaga has come out of her shell
RavenGlamDVDCollector23 October 2016
Back there at the start, this enigmatic shrouded-in-mystery girl with the pseudonym, the brightest spark on the music video scene, the It Girl Supreme, the deluxe diva, and yet, you never had a clear idea of her, she was really like this phantom of the operetta. I only much later learned her name, wow, mouthful, but in my mind's eye she remains this unfathomable vision. Of course, there was BAD ROMANCE, and there her face is briefly seen in its natural state. And she is truly not to be so hidden away behind so much arty facades.

I've only just seen her new video, just downloaded, and while neither the song nor the video can hope to compare with JUST DANCE which brought her to my attention, here it struck me that she is ultra-confident to be herself. Not that she hasn't always been a tornado, it's just that in so many of her videos she is hidden behind layers and layers of some sort. Here she is a ponytailed hot-pants spitfire kicking up a storm dancing wildly to her heart's content, in a video that is straightforward, not the usual Gaga fare we have come to expect. Looks more like a newcomer's debut, than her latest hit.

Somebody here on the board post (at Lady Gaga's entry) posted that he/she/it was very pleased to see this, saying in effect that this was exactly what was needed to quell the Lady Gaga mania. Yes, this is much plainer than most of her other work, this is a sink or swim effort, it will either score big or fade out fast. Might I say that this is a worthy effort and I hope her fans give their support, can't let such an infidel be right.

Been quiet for a while, but still a gale force to be reckoned with.

Not among gaga's worst, but still relatively weak

Warning: Spoilers
This is the music video for "Perfect Illusion", the Lady Gaga song from 2016, so neither a really new or old work by her. This one runs for minimally over 3 minutes and still had 2 people direct it. And this duo worked with (now Oscar winner) Lady Gaga on other occasions as well. Gaga as always plays the main role in this music video and she is stranded in the desert but still jumps around wildly early on instead of saving energy and sweat before she gives a concert performance. But I think this is supposed to imply thatg all the guests partying hard with her are justg an illusion, a fata morgana? Well, a pretty simple story line admittedly. In order to have it not appear completely empty and shallow (no pun intended!), they made a connection to a love relationship with the title that was also an illusion, maybe even a perfect illusion. It is not too clear if Gaga is referring to one of her relationships with that. Slightly catchy song and forgettable music video, it's fine to skip the visual side here and just stick with the record. For me it is a thumbs-down overall. Not recommended.
