So so bad
juliawgriffin26 September 2019
Yesterday's Girl feels like it was filmed without a script on an iPhone. It felt as though they were just making it up as they went along.

bad, just bad

This isn't one of those B-Grades that's so bad it's good, this is just bad. I was literally falling asleep during it. Lots of walking/talking and weird camera scenes. I know what they were trying to do with the "twist" at the end, but by the end, I didn't care and the surprise ending was hardly a surprise. In short, this movie is just bad, pick any other.

A different sort of Film
filmnut-8439717 September 2019
This film is an ambitious independent film about "The End Time" with strong cinematography, effects, sound and music.

The storyline involves a series of mini morality stories centred around Mia trying to understand and come to terms with the fact she has awoken on the last day of earth (Judgement Day), compounded by her memory of being murdered in the distant past ( the 50's). Pursed across a ravaged landscape she is forced to confront a forgotten memory that places her in an immoral trap.

The filmmakers obviously set out to create a sense of chaos, which is done on a scale I've not seen before on an "indie" budget, but the common thread is Mia. Through her struggles, out of the chaos, emerges a storyline of morality. Asking the question, what price would you be prepared to pay if offered a chance to escape a dying world ?

I would recommend this film for those who don't want franchised story lines handed to them on a plate. All in all I liked this movie a lot.

good? no, bad? no,... confusing.. yes
meanolddrunk1 September 2019
This movie for a low budget one, seemed to utilize what little money they had exceptionally well. as far as spfx, lighting, cinema-photography, and the actors. the story/movie.... well a bigger budget would have really helped for the movie itself. the story... yeah umm, its good but.... i had to struggle and draw my own conclusions several times as to what maybe happening. and i suspect i might be wrong about the writers ideas. like a prism, there seemed one thought going in with multiple tangents of where the heck should this go. i am a huge fan of apocalyptic/zombie/ we are all doomed type of movies, but this... i cant put my finger on it. its better than ok but not much above watching a movie while scrolling thru social media on your phone. sorta like this review. would i watch it again, yes. should you watch it? yes, if you like these type of movies. because if your not into that genre, you will hate it. i couldnt give it less stars because i kinda liked it, i would have given more stars if i was positive about my assumption of the ending.

Intriguing
filmfan-6751818 September 2019
If you want a movie about about a dystopian future including different time periods, plague, death, murder, bounty hunters, interment camps, people turning to dust, dark beings, divine powers set to an amazing cinematic score, this movie has it.

For me it was a cinematic journey through 3 worlds. The world of nature, the world of man and the world of the divine. So if you want answers with a simple storyline then this isn't for you. But if you want a film that lingers in the mind without giving it all away and needing a re-visit , then see this intriguing film.

An interesting film... simple no, complicated, yes ! Great locations, large cast with an original soundtrack defying it's budget. Storyline is very different and unlike usual generic fair. IMO. this film, deserves watching by an audiences who appreciate something different.

Satan will be bound, and the earth will be desolate
tekkaquitha7 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
For a low budget movie, the effects were effective at capturing the chaos and destitution that engulfs the world. Like many post- apocalyptic movies, the main characters are chased by various tribes seeking to do them harm. It's not until the end that the viewer catches a glimpse through the shroud of chaos that the Book of Revelations is this movie's playbook. It's the end of times and so the dead are resurrected and they can either go to Satan or God. The men in black apparently work for Satan, but despite how convincing their promised rescue sounds, Mia and company choose the light and heaven.
