Vain: This Party Sucks by Maggie Levin
lumieretrain17 February 2019
The vampire stories have always attracted the fans, in the books, comic books, movies and television series. As most of these stories are intriguing for the main characters, who are surrounded by the vampires in the darkness. Then they would try to find a solution as most of them would either escape, or even face the vampires with inevitable consequences. At the same time the 360° technique is interesting, to see the stories in a different way. By having more perspectives to explore the whole room, where the story is set, while something is happening more or even less exciting. The filmmaker Maggie Levin used both of these elements, to release in 2017 the short movie Vain: This Party Sucks. The movie's plot: in a rave warehouse a group of people, are having fun through loud music and lighting. Until a group of hungry vampires would come, to have a good taste of fresh ravers' blood. The short movie would immediately capture the attention of the audience, to see what would happen with the characters while they're trapped in the rave warehouse. Especially because none of the ravers are heroes, or even vampire hunters like Abraham Van Helsing in Dracula. The 360° technique makes the short movie scarier to see how the ravers, would try to escape while they're surrounded by the vampires. As it shows the scariest scenes, without have necessary rhythmic jump cuts. The neon lighting makes the short movie atmospheric to create surrealistic images, which would make them unforgettable frightening scenes. Vain: This Party Sucks is a thrilling short movie, which has potential to release a feature movie.
