One Small Step for Man, One Giant Lepus for Mankind was produced in part of a Canadian horror anthology "The Monster Pool" where its criteria was to incorporate a cursed skeleton key as well as a monster which was randomly assigned. Director Andrew J.D. Robinson received killer animals.
The concept behind the film was that it was produced by a filmmaker whose narrative ambitions did not match up to his animation skills, so as a result, the film becomes an inspired train wreck in the process.
Based on a true story.
Jennifer Maureen's black and purple vignette scream to a Tyrannosaurus Rabbit is a tribute to the late B-movie filmmaker Dave Shaw, a local filmmaker who came before director Andrew J.D. Robinson in the Ottawa Ontario Canada film scene.
The film pulls inspiration from "Birdemic", "Night of the Lepus", and Troma Entertainment.
