The world is in awe with the recent release of the terrifying yet iconic film Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. With the two gigantic monsters teaming up to kill a larger third monster, the movies are often related to the gigantic scales of the sets, monsters, and events.
In Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, a pink Godzilla is seen with a menacing look. Although it is a very cool look, it doesn’t even come close to the most terrifying Godzilla yet! Appearing in films in 2017 and 2018, this Godzilla is also known as “The Planet Eater”!

U.S. audiences tend to accept Toho's earlier Godzilla movies as being high camp, usually thanks to Gen-x's half-remembered airings of late-'60s kaiju flicks broadcast on Uhf TV channels back in the 1980s. While there are some absurd and terrible Godzilla films from the Showa era (1954-1975), and many of them contained surreal, kitschy plot elements like invading aliens, one might also find several movies -- "Gojira," "Destroy All Monsters" -- that focus on Japanese national pride, the role of destructive weapons in the world, and a barely-simmering resentment lingering after a massive attack on the country. If modern superhero movies sprung from the U.S. subconscious as a fantastical revenge/preventative measure against 9/11, so too did Godzilla spring fully formed from the trauma left behind by the U.S.' atomic bomb attacks.
In the original "Gojira," that is literal. The titular creature, a stories-high amphibious animal,...

Over the Moon, an animated feature heads to Netflix in October, showcasing an aesthetically impressive, awe-inspiring tale of wonder and randomly-erupting musical sequences that’s out to prove that Disney+ isn’t the only place on which its genre flourishes.
The film focuses on the exploits of a young Asian-American girl, who—having been entranced by a myth about a goddess who accidentally floated away from her true love to be exiled on the moon—embarks on a cosmic endeavor of building a rocket for a lunar visit of her own. Despite the problematic practicalities of its plot mechanics, Over the Moon appears destined to become a family-aimed crowd-pleaser, and also serves as valuable representation for a demographic that’s infrequently set in a protagonist capacity in Western features.

The ambitious, nihilistic Godzilla anime trilogy comes to a close with its grandest entry that may frustrate some, but feels fitting.
Movies
Godzilla is such a fascinating property because he’s been around for over six decades and is arguably a larger cinematic icon than James Bond. The beast has gone through a number of reinventions over the years, but the most interesting of these facelifts have taken place in more recent years. Filmmakers have gone out of their way to deliver movies that aren’t your standard action-packed Godzilla endeavors.
After some of the more progressive, ambitious takes on the character, such as Shin Godzilla or Gareth Edwards’ reimagining of the franchise, the character is allowed to be more of a cipher that can hint at heavier issues. Yes, Netflix's Godzilla anime trilogy is about giant monsters that engage in all-out combat with the fate of a planet at stake,...

Hong Kong-made action-thriller “L Storm” topped the Chinese box office with an opening weekend score of $29.4 million. That gave it nearly 60% market share on another quiet weekend in Chinese theaters.
The weekend was characterized by the release of a large number of smaller titles into a window ahead of the Autumn Festival holiday blockbusters at the end of the month. Only “L Storm” made any significant impact, and was the third highest grossing film worldwide, according to ComScore.
The movie is a sequel to 2016 title “S Storm” and involves popular star Louis Koo as an anti-corruption investigator, this time apparently on the wrong side of the law. Directed by David Lam, it is produced by Raymond Wong’s Pegasus Films, and counts Huace Pictures, Wanda, and Er Dong Pictures as mainland Chinese co-producers. Data from Ent Group show it given a wide release, with over 120,000 screenings per day.

The anime version of Godzilla continues from where the first part ended, although this time, the non-Godzilla, non-battle aspect seems to be much improved. Let us take things from the beginning though.
Following the events of “Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters“, the Aratrum is unable to contact Haruo and the rest of the forces, after their encounter with the original Godzilla. The Captain orders that if drones do not find survivors by forty-eight hours, the Aratrum will withdraw from Earth. On the surface of the planet, Haruo and his companions make contact with the indigenous Houtua tribe, who, after a “to-know-us-better” that involves much violence, introduce themselves at their full glory, and even agree to help the “crusaders” in their effort to kill Godzilla.
Furthermore, in a search for nanometal instigated by Galu-gu, they discover the remains of Mechagodzilla, who has actually transformed into a city Galu-Gu dubs as “Mechagodzilla City”. Using nanometal technology,...

There's a lot of focus on Warner Bros.' Godzilla: King of Monsters since footage is expected to debut at Comic-Con, but Netflix has just released Godzilla: City on the Edge of Battle, the sequel to last year's animated feature Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters. The new movie picks up where "Planet of the Monsters" left off, with Haruo and his team looking for a way to defeat the largest Godzilla we've seen to date. This time, they put their hope in the abandoned Mechagodzilla facility and have an unexpected encounter the indigenous Houtua tribe.
There's a surprising lack of Godzilla in "Planet of the Monsters," but I'm hoping they address that in the sequel. Either way, those looking for their Godzilla fix that haven't seen the first movie may want to give it a try to see a futuristic take on the Godzilla story. We've included the trailer below,...

We've got a cool new trailer for Toho's upcoming sequel to Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters. The sequel was previously known as Godzilla: The City Mechanized For Final Battle, but the new more Americanized title of the film is Godzilla: City on the Edge of Battle. This movie looks like it's going to be filled with some epic action! I enjoyed the first film, so I'm pretty excited about this sequel!
In the sequel, the surviving pilots who came to Earth to take down Godzilla in the first film have now joined up with a mysterious group of humans who have been living on the planet. It's there that they learn that "the key to defeating the King of the Monsters may be Mechagodzilla, a robotic weapon thought to have been lost nearly 20,000 years ago."

I guess it was due time for Godzilla to get an anime version, and the 32nd film in the franchise provides just that, with the present movie being the first part of an upcoming trilogy, which, this time, implements a rather sci-fi approach.
In the last summer of the 20th century, giant monsters began appearing all over the world and wreaking havoc. A powerful creature called Godzilla appeared which destroyed humans and monsters alike. Two species of aliens, the Exif and the Bilusaludo, arrived with the former attempting to convert humanity to their religion and the latter seeking to emigrate to Earth with promises to defeat Godzilla with Mechagodzilla, should humanity accept them. However, the Bilusaludo were unable to activate Mechagodzilla, which forced the aliens and humanity to abandon Earth and emigrate to Tau Ceti e.

Toho has released the first trailer for the second film in the Godzilla anime trilogy. It all started with Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters, which ended up being a pretty awesome movie! If you haven't seen it yet, it's currently on Netflix. The next film to be released is called Godzilla: The City Mechanized For Final Battle and it looks insanely cool! The trailer even teases Mechagodzilla!

Also: Jack Black's serio-comic The Polka King and must-see Irish thriller Bad Day for the Cut. Is it just me, or do January's new offerings on streaming services feel ... er, kinda non-essential? Expectations may play a bigger role this month than I had anticipated, but there are pleasures to be enjoyed. From the trailer I saw, I fully expected Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters (aka Godzilla: Monster Planet) to be a dead-serious animated affair with a new take on Godzilla. Released this past weekend on Netflix as a 90-minute movie, the first third of the story is set in outer space on a ship that has been traveling for 20 years and is rapidly running out of resources. The premise is that Godzilla and...

The 32nd theatrically released Godzilla movie, Godzilla: Monster Planet or Godzilla: Planet of Monsters, which came out last November in Japan, has become available this week via Netflix. What makes this one unique is that it’s the first-ever animated cinematic adventure starring the king of monsters. This is a good start to a planned trilogy of anime movies, although not without its flaws. There are some minor spoilers in here, so if you’re enraged by spoilers, consider yourself forewarned.
Originally titled “Gojira: Kaiju Wakusei” in Japan, Godzilla: Monster Planet was first intended to be an anime TV series but plans were changed. Due to the deal with Legendary Pictures, (Who made the 2014 American film Godzilla), Toho Studios decided not to make a sequel to the award-wining Shin Godzilla (Aka Godzilla Resurgence) but still wanted Godzilla to have original cinematic material in Japan since the 65th anniversary of Gojira is coming up.

This week, the first-ever full-length animated Godzilla movie debuts on Netflix. Originally released last year in Japan, Godzilla: Monster Planet is the 32nd Godzilla movie to come out in the past 64 years. What is it about this giant monster that’s kept him so popular for so long? This character, created by Toho Studios over six decades ago, has often been a subject of ridicule—especially some of the later Showa entries of the 1970s—and few people will freely admit to loving Godzilla films. The image of guys wrestling in rubber monster suits and destroying miniature models of Tokyo is what most folks think of when Godzilla is mentioned. And even diehard fans like myself can wince in embarrassment at moments like the Godzilla dropkick from Godzilla vs. Megalon, or...

"Humankind vs. the largest Godzilla ever." Netflix Japan has released an official trailer for the anime movie Godzilla: Monster Planet, which will be available for streaming worldwide from Netflix later this month. Thankfully not long of a wait after opening in Japan in November. Japan's big movie studio Toho produced that new live-action Godzilla movie Shin Godzilla in 2016, and followed it up with this new anime movie. The two could not be more different, with this one being set in the far future. After half-century of the war against gigantic monsters, the human race, deciding to escape the planet Earth for safety, creates a small group to go on a exhibition mission back to the planet. Only to return to a world dominated by Godzilla. The voice cast includes Kana Hanazawa, Ken'yû Horiuchi, Yuki Kaji, and Kenta Miyake. Watch below. Here's the new trailers for Hiroyuki Seshita & Kôbun Shizuno's Godzilla: Monster Planet,...
