A great idea, and positive message, but the actors are subpar. The camera needed to show signers in full view to be understood, although the "interpreter" is not using ASL. Her hand bouncing when she spelled her name was would have gotten her in trouble with my first ASL teacher!
There are some holes, too. A torn menicus is NOT "irreparable" as her doctor said. It can be fixed. Maybe not enough to dance again, though.
Does Canada do nothing for special needs students? Her math teacher would be fired in most schools.
Mainstreamed Deaf students would KNOW when the bell rang, having set an alarm on their watches or phones. Classmates would KNOW Alex was Deaf from day one.
