Wanted to like

Love the guy, Dave is great and he's a solid actor. But this was contrived, boring, and downright nice. He doesn't know how to build a joke. It's very generic and just not good. Sorry bud. Keep acting but don't do standup.

I KNOW Andrew is funnier than this. What happened?
chewywater-707-40070127 March 2019
I've seen Andrew being WAY funnier than this, improvising endless jokes on podcasts like tigerbelly, jokes that make me laugh from the gut. I don't understand how someone with such an excellent sense of humor can create a special that's not funny.

The ideas here are light and silly, but the delivery is serious and drawn-out, like he's dropping really heavy stuff. Weird.

zero stars, and nothing funny

Warning: Spoilers
Honestly, we do not know where Andrew came from (he says he is from "chicago", Ill.) but as a stand up comic, he needs plenty of schooling. Maybe he can get advice from Ben Gleib or even Mo Mandel, but his comic antics just STINK.

Being a stand up comic, one thing you do not do - and that is trash the less fortunate, males in general, and people that live in the streets. If you are a guy, and you trash your gender, well, that speaks volumes of yourself. Trashing the homeless is outright antagonizing and reflects pure hate for the less fortunate. Get some therapy Andrew, or go to school to learn how to make people laugh - not throw up.

What's with the brutal reviews?
jonnycof14 November 2019
I'll admit, Santino is a little slow off the mark here, he takes his time and spends a little bit of time expressing his affection for Chicago which I think is understandable. He does seems like he is a little nervous at first and maybe feels the heat a little because this is his special in his hometown. At first, the jokes are few and far between, and the ones which are there don't seem to land as well as the gags later.

All that said, once he gets going, man, he absolutely kills it. He's a beast. You're all crazy. Let's shove a mic in your hands, put a camera on you, and see if you can do anywhere near as great as this.

I loved this special. Santino is hilarious. He has a casual, dry delivery that is so individual to him and I honestly think the brutal reviews here are unwarranted because there were genuine moments of 'I've never thought about that but that is so true' and when a comic can do that whilst being hilarious, it's a sure sign of genius.

The only reason my review is 8 and not a 10 is because he takes a little time to get warmed up and does seem a little less natural than Santino usually is but once he gets into the meat of his set, he relaxes, absolutely beasts it and it's truly great!

Are you all seriously telling me that Bill Burr loved this set but some guy gives this a 3? Well, I'm sure you know more about comedy than Bill Burr whoever you are... loI I loved this set, watch it, you won't regret it.

I think Santino is due a Netflix special and I am seriously looking forward to his next special no matter who picks it up.

Underrated talent!
kobraf23 October 2022
This is criminally underrated in my opinion. Original, hilarious perspectives and IMO showing what he brings to the table with a lot of his on-screen personas. Santino somehow walks a fine line between underdog and arrogance, and it's endearing and relatable. My wife and I literally were crying laughing with the 'Poop in the club' bit. I can't understand why it received such a mediocre score. I watch a lot of stand up comedy, whether it is by well known, classic, underground, or up and coming performers and Santino delivers in this special like very few have in such a rare outing. Give this title a shot!
