An interesting but somewhat aimless peek into Berlin youth
bbc_asheron30 September 2021
Very raw movie with good actors. Interesting environments that felt very authentic for someone who has his own experience with festivals like Fusion and club culture. Unfortunately, after a while it mostly felt like an orgie of sex and drugs with no real aim or message. For someone who has watched the movie Kids by Larry Clark several times, I felt that this movie was very inspired by the former with the environments and aimless destructive lifestyles of the youth. There was one scene in particular which felt like it was just there because there is a similar scene in Kids, and it didn't make any sense to me so that's where I started to lose it with this movie. Anyhow, kudos to the actors, I hope to see them again in other movies as they did a great job, and the filming was excellent too. I just wish the movie had more to offer script wise.

Young and oblivious

This is quite the portrayal (a bleak one) of how some young adults (or rather teenagers) grow up. How they feel and what goals they have or haven't. Oh and it's mainly girls - which was needed since most movies do concentrate on how boys grow and everything else male. So to get a perspective of future women is a nice feat.

It doesn't mean that all girls are like that or had an upbringing like that. And apart from the sex (quite strong, even if not explicit can give some people anxiety if they get upset seeing those) and drug consuming, this is about friendship, about a different (probably) view to life than the viewer of this. Raw and almost like a documentary - that is what "real" should be like, even if it upsets people ... the acting is more than incredible, even when you may not be entirely sympathetic to the characters or everything they do

Honest

Warning: Spoilers
The team manages to portrait life as it actually happens beyond the comfortable homes in which we are observing the Self destructive nature of youth. What I enjoyed most is that the movie doesn't try to force a perspective or narrative down my throat. The ending has a beautiful touch to it: We see the actual families of the actors. To me it made the last scenes even more shocking: I didn't just watch an isolated and extreme version of a young girls life. Quite the opposite. This is a normality that can happen even in stable families with loving parents. Youth is a phenomenon that is incomprehensible to anyone that can't remember it's own.
