This is a low-budget movie that tells a good story. It is not a perfect film but I found it entertaining and the main actors capable and likable. The reviews and scores here seem to suggest it is either awful or fantastic. Animator is a good, solid film that entertained me.

Animator is a kind of film that is somehow boring. But for drama lovers, it might be a good film to enjoy. As for me, yeah, it's a little bit boring. Still, it's watchable.
What I don't like of this film is the behaviours of the characters. But it's still very difficult to criticise because I don't like both of them. At first, I don't like Tina for her reaction when Neal's card isn't working and he doesn't have money to pay on cash. At that time, I thought Neal shouldn't choose her as his girlfriend. But when Neal asked her to do abortion, I kind of hate Neal. Both of the characters aren't perfect. So, I kind of don't like this film which is based on such characters.
That being said, I quite like the idea of drawings become real when he signs. It would be more interesting if it was real in this real world. And I was so touched when I saw they are willing to die to save who they love. I feel it's so cute.
Based on the above facts, this film really needs to improve more to be better. So, to say it in overall, although it's a little bit boring, but as for me, it's still watchable. But to say it's a great movie? I don't think so. It's just a normal, fine film. If they have made a bit less boring, it'd be better.

"The Gift" is handed down from someone whose mother dies at childbirth. What they draw and sign comes true. Young Neal (Levenix Riddle) gets the gift and misuses it.
The was nothing over exciting about the film. Didn't really care for Neal. The ending was way too predictable. Low budget acting.

This is a film with a topic that could ve been a chigagian blockbuster, if done the right way. when i saw this film i felt like sitting in a plane before take of, and the time runs by , and no engine starts, the seat gets hotter and hotter, and after an hour or so, the captain informs that the flight has been canceled due to technical errors ..... and what do i mean by that, well its a film that never takes off, and then i mean dead stop.
its a comedy for sure, but ive seen better amateur films than this.... and it didnt make me laugh. the male lead is quite likeable and seems quite good at his act, but this film are just not what an icvecold grumpy old man from icecold norway laugh about , not even drunk. its a fumbling try, and could barely be be recommended for jazzlovers due to the score.

This movie had such a good plot and story until one part. I won't spoil it for those who haven't seen it but it could've went a different way that could've been more logical. I get the shock factor and the whole bringing out emotion. Well you did that but I just wanted to turn it off halfway through. I did watch it until the end and was even more upset that I didn't turn it off when I wanted to.

If you think watching this movie on the Flix, and if after 3 minutes in the movie your gut is telling you no-way, find another movie on Flix. I did not, and watched it for 20 minutes. If you think to rent it, don't waste your money on this one.
I think we need a kind of money-back guarantee if one is leaving a movie in the first 15 minutes, at the cinema's and online movie rental-shops.
Doesn't deserve the low score

Happened upon this movie while scrolling through T*bi, never heard of it before, the brief description sounded good so I started to watch. As with every movie I watch, I logged onto this site to see what the score was. Shocked to see the low score so much so I was going to turn it off, scores that low can't be good. I'm glad I didn't turn it off. I found the movie funny, charming, sad and very sweet: story of a man who is given an incredible, life changing gift. Will he make the right choices with it? I won't go too deep into the story because I don't want to spoil it but the film was touching, the lead actors played well off each other and gave really good performances; the animation of the history of the gift was stunning, colors were amazing. If I could give a recommendation it would be to ignore the scores and watch the film. It really isn't as bad as the reviewers on here are making it out to be.

This film is a rarity indeed. Over 90percent of the films with black leads are typically cliche (dysfunction, drugs, guns, agenda based). This film actually has a unique story line, and is definitely worth the watch. I don't understand how or who the people are who came in drives to pan such a great film....ignore them and check it out for yourself...you will not be disappointed.

This is a film about a man who has a lot of growing up to do. He is a self centered, short sighted, materialistic person who is given a gift of immense power. And he has very little understanding of how to use this gift in a way that will be of benefit to anyone, including himself. As we observe him use his gift over and over again, we see that this is largely because his understanding of life is deeply lacking. The things he seems to value quickly turn out to have negative consequences that he did not foresee. In real life, learning this lesson is what marks the transition from adolescence to adulthood. In this film, well you will have to decide this for yourself.

This story has a really good message about being selfless once you give it a chance. The story begins with Neal who has a good job at a marketing firm but apparently has some money problems and is headed to bankruptcy. Though the audience is never really given a reason about why that is. He's not a big spender because he doesn't wear the finest clothes. He doesn't have a car in the beginning of the film. And he doesn't have a luxurious apartment or drug habit of any kind, so I can't tell you why he has problems with money at all. His character seems to be passionate about art, mostly sketching like a comic artist. He's never fell in love, or gotten married and had a family. And then he meets the woman of his dreams. The only thing is he meets this woman at a time in life when nothing else seems to be going right for him. So while trying to win the woman of his dreams over he meets a professor who discovers that their paths were destined to cross. That man finds that Neal is chosen to take on an ancient African blessing that works like magic making whatever he draws become reality. Before being able to explain the crucial do's and don't about how this gift of the blessing can become a curse; the professor dies and Neal is left on his own to figure things out.
Moving forward into the film Neal uses the gift and sees that it works and gradually remedies the wrongs of his life with the gift. He's able to fix his financial problems while developing a relationship with Tina. Slowly but surely he learns that misusing his blessing comes with a price that can turn his blessing into a curse when used for selfish gain. That being said, Neil gets so caught up into using his gift to solve all of his problems that the woman he falls in love with seems to become the first victim of his blessing becoming a curse. This is the moment the movie takes a turn for the worst. You see Tina who seems to be a happy good girl living her dreams slowly become hurt, destroyed, and depressed. The viewer begins to feel like it would've been better that Tina never met Neal. By the time Neal realizes that he should've placed the woman he loves before himself he has to learn the lesson of selfishness the hard way. It was a sad story that made me even examine the ways I may be being selfish in my own life and promise to correct it. So overall I loved the film, story line, and the actors portrayals. Job well done to the director, and writer.
Also I read in one review where someone said the main character Neal drew himself having sex with the love interest of the film Tina and that is not true. The only person the film showed Neal draw for some kind of affection was Roz a sexy co-worker who he drew himself kissing. The film never shows Neal draw himself having sex with Tina to sleep with her and instead in the beginning of their relationship only shows him draw himself getting the money to pay her back from a first date gone bad when his credit card came up declined.

I honestly didn't think I'd like it, but i decided to watch it anyway. Obviously, I'm glad i did because I'm here writing my first review because of it. It's funny, emotionally compelling, & left me with the same sense of satisfaction i have after reading a good book- which is rare, because a movies impression usually fades shortly after the closing scene.

ANIMATOR movie is a must watch.The film is very unique with the animation adding to the creative story line. It takes you through a journey of self indulges with a chilling ending that makes your realize the importance of the power to give.

What a fun and engaging film. Animator has a little bit of everything: romance, comedy, drama, magic..., and never a dull moment. This is an intelligent, well-polished film that I am sure I will end up revisiting periodically. All who were a part of Animator's production should be very happy with the end result. I am reviewing this as it is really worthy of a review - for its great writing, the great acting involved, and the direction. It is hones, heartfelt and just such a breath of fresh air in a world full of movies trying to grab your attention with shock and awe. This delivers with subtlety and gentle passion - and it is clearly a team effort.
I am finding that streaming services offer a very male/action/death and destruction formula, or brash comedy etc., so finding a story with care and compassion, and which still has sadness and comedy, is great. So if you have not seen this yet - please do! You will not regret it.
