Its endless parade of misery with no hope in sight, I cant take this anymore and its always same story line. In the end we can see close ups of Elizabeth Moss huge eyeballs and see how she get kick and beaten. If you are sadist or masochist this is for your entertainment, Me? I am done.

Barely one episode in to series 5 and I'm done with this story. One and two were pretty decent even if the subject matter was disturbing and dystopian. Now it's outright depressing. It's hard to care about June any longer or what she's fighting for. She's really just lost the plot. So much so that all those that were close to her are shocked by her cruelty. Some irony there.
There is some good acting, even where the story is repetitive at times and you wish the sun would shine just that bit more, but I don't think this show is doing anyone any favours. Misandry, meh, I think I'm done with that.

..that this once brilliant and powerful show has lost its way and given over to the ratings machine.....just write itself out of miserable existence. Virtually EVERYTHING I once loved about it, has so quickly become...well...just obvious and annoying. I mean, am I the only one who is tired of the "June-Closeup-Emotional-Twitch" face? The musical scores set to her talk over quips? I am baffled at how in just one season (3) they have managed to turn June, a once powerful, smart emotional -relatable character into this annoying, rash, narrow-minded woman that suddenly doesn't seem to know how to use her resources or manage her emotions to her benefit? This season is slow, all over the place, and disappointing on SO MANY character levels i just thing unless they have written and ending to this drudgery...this once H.T fan...just may Hang it up.. (pun intended:)

What started with an explosive start has turned drab and drag. For the love of God, one has to suffer the Elizabeth moss and her expressionsless face. It gets off-putting after some time. She is being given a disproportionate amount of time, screen space and character growth.... At times, it gets idiotic and unrealistic. Put her out of the misery... Probably bcoz Elizabeth moss had control over the the production, she has forced her personal aspirations to The detriment of the show.

Much of the buzz about "The Handmaid's Tale" is that this is what could happen if America turned into a Christian theocracy. I'm not a religious person, but I don't see how anything in the show matches up with any Christian doctrine. Religious people I know don't have practices that match anything in "The Handmaid's Tale". Especially the part about keeping a mopey girl around the house so you can bang her to have kids. Yeah, I know, the women are infertile, but wouldn't a clinical method of getting the mope pregnant be more likely? This dystopian future is highly structured, with plenty of cultural taboos and enforcement infrastructure. How did this all get implemented? All the characters have a recent history, so this societal reboot happened in a span of five years? I can't imagine it in America. Gays have been a political force for 40 years and they just recently got the right to marry.
As others have mentioned, not much really happens. None of the characters have any charisma or are likable. The viewer is supposed to be sympathetic to the handmaids. They have no freedom and are essentially property. As the show drags on, I start noticing other people. I feel sorry for the guards who have to stand on the sidewalk holding a machine gun all day. That's it, just stand there. At least the handmaids can chat with each other and are in a comfortable house.
If you love this show, its because you make yourself love it. Or you are politically insecure and like to be frightened. There are many other shows you can watch that are much more engaging.

I can handle unrealistic. I accepted the truth of the Hunger Games and the other absurd similar movies of the same genre. I want so badly to find a show I could appreciate watching regularly. This just isn't it. It's lacking attention to its own history. It's drama for the sake of drama and with absolute disrespect of the intelligence and memory of its audience. It isn't evolving but stuck in this fatalistic quagmire that it doesn't even explain properly. I feel dumber for having tried to watch the 3rd season and I feel bad for the actors who deserve better.

S1 was somehow ok, but it is declining quickly and by the end of S2 it is mainly a slow and repetitive collection of the three different dumb facial expressions of the protagonist.

I don't give a damn about how politically relevant this show is, how nicely it portrays the future stupid, pious Christians are leading us to, the social commentary it has. One thing every writer must understand, you are writing a story, I don't mind if you push your ideology here and there, but it must have a story worth watching.
And all I got was a story I could barely keep my eyes open to finish, a dystopian world whose history doesn't make any sense, neither did it's present. It felt like writer first decided the messages she wants to send, like about religion, gay-rights, personal freedom etc, you know, the whole liberal package. And then hastily built a world to fit the narrative.
I know I must be a stupid, product of "evolution gone wrong" to not like this show, as intelligent writers here before me has pointed out. Anyway, in the midst of overwhelming positive reviews, there had to be a review for all those stupid folks out there.

After hearing great things about this show, I gave it a try. I watched the first three episodes to make sure I was giving it a fair chance. The production quality is decent, and the acting isn't awful. I find myself actually liking some of the characters. But that's about all this show has going for it.
As a viewer who knew very little about the show before I started watching, the writers waste no time alienating certain groups and (dare I say) religions within the first 20 minutes. (Christians). I have no doubt that folks with a certain worldview will find this as some sort of cautionary tale. But if you have any perspective on the world at all, you'll probably find this premise lazy and worn out. What modern television show doesn't feature the main villain as some version of an evil white Christian male figure? This show is very politically charged and not subtle about it. If you're a Christian, you will probably find this a bit insulting. Unless you're a Christian who enjoys watching self proclaimed "Christians" raping a woman while "Onward, Christian Soldiers" plays in the background... And that's only the first episode...
I'm not religious and I found myself very offended by some of the implications here. Especially when there are religious societies RIGHT NOW that operate in ways very similar to the society in this show... And they aren't Christian societies. A better title for this show might be: "Saudi Arabia"
So, if you enjoy television that bases an entire story line on the idea that white Christian men eventually take over the world and do what they've always really wanted to do deep down, which is control every aspect of a woman's life, then this is the show for you.

Another season, same story on repeat. They should have stopped two seasons ago. I had to stop watching it. Elisabeth Moss' character becomes annoying to watch when the same story line repeats itself. They ruined a good story by trying to drag it out for money. No one, even in a dystopian universe would be stupid enough to repeat themselves this many times. Junes character is extremely self centered and I likable. The husband should have his man card removed, several seasons in and he just sits around and complains still, it's a very strange formula to keep a show running on. They should have included new and more interesting characters.

Another sad example of a series being stretched out way, way too far. If they'd stuck to the book and ended after the first series I'd have given it an 8, but then it just got more and more absurd. The writers have tried too hard to make political points, and all they have done is take away all credibility for the scenario. What I find so ridiculous is the attempt to paint Christianity as a religion determined to enslave women, when we all know there is another religion that actually does it. So something that started well ,soon became absurd and then annoying - at which point I stopped watching.

The last 2 seasons have been an absolute bore. So many slooooooow scenes that drag on and on and waste so much time. I feel like the whole of season 5 could have been 2 episodes. I seriously fast forwarded so much.

The story is interesting and innovative. The idea of Gilead and everything. But honestly, even after watching the first episode, i felt bored with the pace of the movie. After the 2nd and 3rd episode, i started fast forwarding the scenes as they were unnecessarily super slow! Why all the pauses, hesitations, between each and every line of discussion?! I mean seriously!
Does everyyyy scene need to happen like in slow-motion?! That's why despite my curiosity for watching the rest i couldn't go further than season 1, episode 9! Besides, there are irrational things happening which are against what you have come to know about the rules of offred house. June freely goes wherever she wants, and do whatever she wishes to do whenever she's not supposed to be caught red-handed by the writer! That also makes the story kind of faulty.

great production values; costumes, sets and action sequences, but terrible writing and the direction was abysmal -----has there been a show on TV that is this slow? Did the broadcaster want 10 episodes and they only had scripts for five and the production team said no problem and them made every scene 3 times longer than necessary?
I felt and then confirmed the directors were more cameramen than story tellers; i.e. in love with this long long shot that is pretty but doesn't move the tale along
overly flashbacked, filled with narration; all back enough but the worst was slamming on the brakes to take us into "Lucas on the run story." that's when i realized there were too too many producers on the project and none had the character or personality or strength to rein this in.
As it looked very expensive---and that cast isn't cheap either yet they've ended up with a dog's breakfast of a series instead of a quality project.
I also want to mention how I, and so many others that make up the "audience" are so fed up with that "natural" light movement from Denmark that started 10-15 years ago. Natural light does not mean you can't see anything; there is a lot of room between a sitcom and a drama in terms of lighting. Only north America is still hooked on this "convention," and it screams follower and hack, rather than cutting edge.

First two seasons were good and original, fast and definitely not boring, the third season started and all I wish is that they erase the main actress, so egocentric to the point that its unbearable. Third and fourth season is just her face on the screen, all the time. I didnt mind seeing her at the begining, now all I see it's teeth!!
Literally, nothing happens.

The first season is fantastic. Then it's almost like Elisabeth Moss and the script writers just decide to make the character of June, the most boring, selfish and dull character possible.
The story doesn't evolve. It becomes so tedious, I probably won't finish season 3. The choices June makes become increasingly moronic and contradictory to her character in season 1.
I'd avoid.
