It started good but then it all went down to drain..
TerribleKatherine15 January 2018
Warning: Spoilers
This movie is a tricky one in my opinion. I was hoping a lot from it but as the movie progressed I felt like the plot was getting boring. I didn't really care what happens to the family members because I just wanted it to end. And when they brought in the neighbor as "The Meat Eater", I was in all honesty disappointed. The acting was decent though, especially the mother did a good job. I didn't appreciate the obvious plot holes, like when the sister killed the brother by accident, but they never addressed that. Or when that boy was burning in the furnace and I was like "Have I been asleep the whole time, 'cos I missed the moment when they threw him there?". And the sister just _knew_ the furnace boy wasn't her brother. Wtf, who was he then? I also understood that the cave boys were the neighbor's boys but I think I saw their feet intact which didn't make any sense neither because the father cut the boys' feet. Oh well, this is why I gave this movie 3 starts. It was better than a lot of brainless Hollywood scream flicks, but it was still a half-assed job.

What?

Warning: Spoilers
Apparently my other review was censored so I try again. Firstly I want to say I dislike the main actor who looks like some 70s glam rock fan. Not because of that but he is just annoying. The movie is atrocious. It starts out by portraying this family like their only problem was the incident with the melted face. Then it rips of Texas Chainsaw and recent French horror like Haute Tension but this movie has no tension. The only scene I liked was the people in the cages which looked tolerably original.

We have a delicate taste.
nogodnomasters19 April 2018
Warning: Spoilers
The film appears to be a not too well made homage film to Tobe Hooper, creator and director of several Texas Chainsaw films. The Hansen farm is named for Gunnar Hansen, who played Leather Face. Toby (David Lenik), named for Tobe Hooper, and maybe Jessica for Jessica Biel. Wesley Wallace (Toby Wynn-Davies) is a police man and Wallace was a detective in the original film. It is possible other character names are homage to other Tobe Hooper films such as Bethany for Jobeth Williams from Poltergeist. It would have been nice to of had a director's commentary if indeed all the character names had a deeper meaning. I can't BS anymore. Oh wait one more...the film takes place in England and Tobe worked with Robert Englund.

The cannibal aspect was as read and not visual. And as far as gore, the film had some but not as much as one would expect. Some of the special effects were very bad such as the missing hands from grabbing an electrified cage. (Hey, kick it with your shoe.) I liked how the film started out but when we got into the meat of the film it was a bit rancid. Jessica (Kate Davies-Speak) almost saves the film in the end, too little too late.

Guide: F-word. No sex or nudity.

You couldn't ask more a more unlikeable bunch
kardosma25 January 2021
The sooner these characters all die horribly, the better.

The only half decent one was the crazy old coot by the side of the road.

Which is a standard horror cliche, and even then they messed it up :(

Utterly irritating waste of time.

P.s. "Does this review contain spoilers?" Hahaha no - nothing I say could spoil this any more than it is already.

STAY AWAY!
calichainsaw14 June 2019
Warning: Spoilers
So I have sat through some of the worst that this genre has to offer. I've sat through films made on a budget of 500$ (yes , you read that right), and suffered through feature films made by 13 year olds but this.... this is something diffrent.

Where to start? The music is apauling, the plot is so all over the place that you can barley call it a slasher film. An example of how bad the plot is, is that (Spoilers) The Killer dies half way through the movie so your stuck with pointless "plot" the 2nd half. The ending is underwhelming, and on top of that it isn't even original. A killer with a skin mask, butchers apron, and skin mask? Never heard of that before. Now maybe I'd ignore the rip-off aspects if they did it well but they didn't. The family kills each other more then the killers kill anyone.

I'm still trying to find redeeming qualities about the film. The gore was bad and put in the wrong places. A dude grabs and electric door and his hands just explode. Why? Because that's apparently what these filmmakers think happens when you touch some electric metal. There are no chainsaw deaths so don't look forward to that either, and the supposed "Cannibalism" is very absent.

So if the point hasn't gotten across to you... Don't watch this movie. It is a painful watch, and gives you nothing the trailer promises. They should've retitled it "Cider dude gets mad". If you do watch it that title will make sense.

Hilariously bad it's good
malak90012 January 2022
So I've heard about this film for a while and finally found the time to sit down and watch.

Was I in for a treat!

The only way to describe Cannibal Farm is thus.

It's like The League of Gentlemen decided to write a comedy horror script, realised that it wasn't that good, threw the script in the bin and it was picked up by a GCSE drama student who ignored the comedy elements and focused on the horror.

The dialogue is ropey as hell and delivered with more ham than a Percy Pig advertising campaign.

My favourite line in the whole film goes to:

'You'll have to cut off your feet and find the keys, it's the only way'

Yep, this gives you the idea of the type of thing you'll be watching. I'm assuming the director did his auditions at a local village hall during the Okehampton players amateur dramatics societies production of Puss in Boots.

The gore is passable and not as frequent as you might expect with a film of this title.

Clocking in at 1 hour 40, it does drag and you'll be clock watching during the last 30 minutes.

The only positive I will mention is the writers attempt at a few plot twists. As ambitious as they were, ultimately you just don't particularly care. In case you haven't already assumed (considering the villain is a face wearing chainsaw wielding madman) the film takes inspiration from Tobe Hooper's classic 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre'.

Not so much a homage as the end result is a cross between 'Hot Fuzz'and 'The Room'.

Cannibal Farm is definitely a misleading title and the writer should've settled with 'Carry on Cannibal'.

Would I recommend watching it?...for the comedy value, definitely, however don't go into it thinking this will be a good piece of horror. If that's what you're after you're best sticking with Tobe Hooper's ground breaking masterpiece.

Blatant plagiarism done badly with abysmal effects n lol acting.
Fella_shibby11 July 2020
The movie starts in the country side with a prank gone wrong causing deaths n then suddenly changes into another scene, a copy of Hills have Eyes kinda where a family head out on a camping trip to enjoy some family bonding that too far off in the same country side without any gadgets or phones. They land upon a farm where a deranged farmer n his deformed son stays alone and they kill people n sell off their meat to a mysterious meat eater.

At a length of more than 100 mins runtime, the film gets tedious n messy with too many subplots without any tension, suspense or character development. There is too much of unnecessary red color scenes which gets annoying, the kills r very few but there is unnecessary screaming.

The effects r abysmal. A women's hand gets severed by a sword but she is busy chatting, that too without any blood flowing, a man gets burned in an oven but looks like covered in mud, a scalp gets sliced by a saw but very badly n poorly done. The hand electrocution scene is lol. A woman is able to capture many people in the cages, all alone n that too without any effort. And inspite of this she is shown asking the captives, "I hope that u guys have some family or kids missing you". Generous with 4 as the director is surely a big fan of Hills Have Eyes, TCM, etc. Also the twist is good regarding the reverend n the "other guy".

The worst of the worst
jefflv-157-1884917 June 2018
This is the most laughably horrible movies I have ever seen. The writing is terrible, the acting is atrocious, and there are plot holes a mile wide. It is a bit like watching an overacted high school play in high definition.

Horrifyingly BAD!
runeofshadows8 May 2018
Cannibal Farm, where do I even begin? Let's start with the fact that I watch 2 films daily and have been doing so for years. The only time I write online reviews is when I want to warn would-be viewers just how God-awful a movie is before they waste their time (or worse, money) on it. This is only the second time I've ever had to do this. Enough said, right? In occasional attempts at competence, the film sloppily copy/pastes ideas from Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Saw, and even House of 1000 Corpses, before launching into cringe-worthy, ear-grating monologues by characters that might as well be too drunk to be able to put together anything resembling cohesive plot clues in this nearly 2-hour cringe fest, but I digress. This movie is so bad that to do a truly in-depth review of it would be an insult to higher thought itself. The films deserves only the requisite amount of frontal lobe activity necessary to ensure intelligent viewers steer clear of it, and nothing more, so, STEER CLEAR! You have been warned.

A budget constrained gem
privatechrisnylan27 November 2020
Given the constraints that this type of film is fighting against in terms of the hard cash required to get a film made and out this is a good effort by all involved.

Everything you always want in a horror movie but.......
mpenn865 January 2018
I really wish they had more of a budget. I get it, its a low budget move, but I dug the story and wanted the look and effects of the movie to match it. The kills were good, even some unexpected jumps. I know this movie takes a lot of its inspirations from movies like Texas Chainsaw Massacre, House of 1000, and The Hills Have Eyes but it still felt exciting to watch. This movie is flying pretty low under the radar, and deserves a little more recognition for what it is.

Making a movie this bad is actually an achievement
greg-2953521 December 2020
If you just randomly hit record on your phone and left it on for 2 hours you'd have a way better movie than this turd. But at least I learned one thing, if you touch an electrified fence your hands explode... ... .... yeah, that bad...

This film is rubbish, suckish, and a waste of time and money
the12elton15 January 2018
This film really sucks! I thought the film was going to be good because of the trailer but unfortunately this film is a waste of time and its really boring. There were a lot of flaws on the acting. Cheap, poor, and unrealistic sound effects. Some scenes look fake. The picture quality in this film is good. This film has scenes that make no sense and even have ridiculous twists and the ending was one the dumbest scene ever and it really made no sense. Don't watch this if you don't want to get really bored or waste time.

More sickening then actually being a cannibal
dainamariebradley31 August 2020
Awful! I couldn't make it to the bitter end of this snoozefest! I kept fast- forwarding 10 seconds. Had a lot of potential to be highly watchable, but was flat and dull. The gore was a big snore! Not worth trying to watch and I have never given only 1 star. Not scary at all just really dumb and boring. Zzz!

Warning! trash
wuest-7026310 July 2021
Please do not buy or watch this film, it is scrap at its finest. You could almost think it was produced by a 14 year old. The script doesn't make sense and I don't even want to talk about the cut. The music breaks off at some points and the choice of music is not appropriate either.

Well yes there is a farm and its got cannibals in it
dslr8826 January 2022
Escape from cannibal farm or cannibal farm as its titled on prime is like a cross between the texas chainsaw massacre, wrong turn and a host of other movies with the exception its set in britain. For a short while i actually thought it was set in australia LOL. Family out on a road trip comes across rural farm and become the target of the psychotic farm owner. The cast are okay and its okay made. I get it meant to be to a homage to the older horror stuff from the seventies and eighties but a bit of originality wouldn have helped too. There is such a thing as overdoing the tribute. Acceptable viewing but nothing you havent already seen at some point before.

The most beautiful and tragic beginning of a horror movie I have ever seen.
WillowUndergroundStudios6 October 2019
Heavily inspired by the Texas chainsaw franchise, it puts a deeper twist onto the cannibalism. For one thing, Mr. Hansen didn't like what he was doing. He absolutely hated farming humans. But let's go back to the beautiful intro.

In the beginning, we see young Hansen, son of Hunt, walking with his teddy scare, redmond gore (teddy scares, look them up) which forshadows the next scene and so on. The mom sees him getting bullied by the Blackheart kids and then witnesses a horrific accident of her child getting his face horrifically burned and scarred. The kids throw him in the water, the mother sees this and tries to save him from disfigurement to no avail. Then her guilt eats her up a short time later and she commits suicide.

ALL IN VERY EMOTIONALLY TEAR JERKING SLOW MOTION. And to top it off, we get this beautiful emotional piano and violin melody that brings you to tears.

That alone is what made this film so beautiful and tragic. I'm not going to say anything about the rest of the film because it's the beginning that I wanted to put out there. If you think this film is a knock off, it's not but just do yourself a favor and appreciate the beginning of the film. Appreciate how beautiful and emotional it is.

This is a lot of fun. Original? No. But what really is in horror these days? Turn your brain off and enjoy the British Texas Chainsaw.

Mostly bad effects killed it
gzdreqz10 January 2024
Not too bad of an effort here.

A rehashed story of what we've seen a hundred times but it still felt somewhat different. The acting was pretty decent, if anything all the performances had good effort. This movie drags with side plots so be ready to go mindless for bit.

With all that being said this movie could easily be in the 6 star range if it wasn't for the effects. There were a couple (and I mean literally 2) effects that weren't horrible. This really kills the movie. Had there been a better practical effects team behind this movie it could have easily sat in the 6 star range. With that being said use your imagination I guess!

Overall a solid effort, truly. I was entertained for a free rabbit hole Temu movie.

4/10.
