New Delhi/Thiruvananthapuram, March 13 (Ians) M.M. Keeravani today is being hailed as one of the greatest music composers of Tollywood, but he earned his early spurs in K. Balachander’s 1991 Tamil movie, ‘Azhagan’ (Handsome), starring Mammootty and Bhanupriya. In the credit lines, he was known as Maragathamani.
In the same year, Keeravani, using the same identity, composed the music for celebrated filmmaker I.V. Sasi’s hit movie ‘Neelagiri’, also starring Mammooty. And in the year that followed, he gave the music for ‘Soorya Manasam’, the Sowcar Janaki-Mammootty film where the latter plays a mentally challenged man.
In the meantime, he continued with Telugu and Tamil films, venturing onto Kannada, where he did not change his name, as he did yet again, this time to M.M. Kreem, when he scored the music for ‘Criminal’, Mahesh Bhatt’s 1995 Telugu-Hindi bilingual thriller based on ‘The Fugitive’ and starring Nagarjuna, Ramya Krishna and Manisha Koirala.

BTS lit up the Grammys stage with their performance of "Butter" on Sunday night, with memorable moments like Jungkook coming down from the ceiling, V whispering sweet nothings into Olivia Rodrigo's ear, and J-Hope almost wiping out midsong (but saving himself like the smooth dance master he is). However, while Jungkook, V, J-Hope, Rm, Jimin, and Suga danced throughout the performance like usual, Jin, aka Worldwide Handsome, stayed seated for most of the performance. While ARMYs certainly know what's going on with Jin at all times, many of the non-bts stans tuning into the Grammys might be wondering why he wasn't dancing along with the rest of the group.
On March 19, Big Hit Entertainment announced on BTS's fan app, Weverse, that Jin had surgery on his hand. On March 19, they wrote, "We would like to provide you with some information regarding BTS member Jin's finger injury. Jin injured his...

The world travels of a pair of brothers, one with Down’s, start to look like a middling gap-year project
On the rare occasions the cinema has engaged with Down’s syndrome – 1996’s The Eighth Day and 2019’s The Peanut Butter Falcon are the main ones to spring to mind – it’s been in the form of sweetly sentimental road trips. Though Handsome travels far wider, this meandering, naggingly superficial and sometimes outright misjudged documentary hews to a similar path, dispatching Nick Bourne and younger brother Alex, who has Down’s, to swap tales with similar support networks around the globe. Narrator Nick has Louis Theroux’s specs, crossed-arm stance and stop-start syntax down pat. But what he lacks are Theroux’s generally sure journalistic instincts: the sense of where the story lies, the ability to cut to the chase, and the good grace to remove himself from the picture...

Nick and Alex Bourne in Handsome Photo: courtesy of Glasgow Film Festival
Growing up with a sibling who has Down syndrome is a complex experience. Nick has taken care of his brother Alex for many years, but they’re both adults now and he’s reached a point where he wants more out of life for himself. Uncertain how to navigate the situation, he and Alex decided to try and find other pairs of siblings in the same situation and ended up travelling around the world – to Cornwall, New York, India and Vietnam – to visit some of them, making a documentary, Handsome, in the process. They agreed to meet up online to talk about it as they prepared for it to screen at the Glasgow Film Festival.
It was only their second interview and Alex was a bit shy about it but was happy to let his bother do most of the talking.

UK festival recently moved online-only due to virus crisis.
The Glasgow Film Festival (Gff) has revealed the programme for its 2021 edition (Feb 24-March 7), which includes several award-winning festival favourites and a focus on South Korea.
The 17th edition of Gff, which recently announced it would shift online-only due to the ongoing virus crisis, includes six world premieres, two European premieres and 49 UK premieres – around a third of the event’s usual programme of 180 titles.
However, Gff co-directors Allison Gardner and Allan Hunter said the reduced number of slots had forced them to raise the bar for selection and produce a stronger programme as a result.

(Actor Sharad Kelkar has worked with the late filmmaker Nishikant Kamat twice, in the critically acclaimed Marathi film "Lai Bhaari" and the Bollywood flick "Rocky Handsome". For Sharad, "Nishi sir" was more of a mentor and a friend than a director. The filmmaker passed away on August 17 at the age of 50 after battling liver cirrhosis for the past two years)
By Sharad Kelkar
Mumbai, Aug 19 (Ians) I knew Nishi sir for the past 12 or 13 years. We had a common group and used to meet quite often. At that time, I was working television and he was making films. Whenever we used to meet, weekly or once in a fortnight, we use to have a lot of fun. We never discussed work. He was a senior and a good friend. Out of the blue, one fine morning he called me and offered me 'Lai Bhaari', and I instantly agreed to do the role.

There’s a moment during Thursday’s superb tribute to John Prine in which Bill Murray holds up a framed photo of himself singing with Prine and the bluegrass band the SteelDrivers onstage at the Grand Ole Opry. “This is about as jazzed-up as I ever got,” he says, the joy tied to the memory apparent on his face. But when Murray, who’s wearing a pink floral shirt and sombrero, glances down at the photograph, he turns sad, suddenly aware that such magical, only-in-Prine’s-presence moments are now gone.

While Lulu Wang’s emotional family drama “The Farewell” may have broken through last year, and upcoming comic book adaptations “Birds of Prey” (by Cathy Yan) and “The Eternals” (from Chloé Zhao) spell fresh opportunities for filmmakers of Chinese descent in 2020, a rollicking little follow-the-money caper called “Lucky Grandma” from first-time feature director Sasie Sealy and co-writer Angela Cheng proves there are plenty more emerging Chinese American talents just waiting for their shot. All it takes is a little good fortune — and the support of a few encouraging festivals, like the Tribeca team that gave this film a boost — and they should be on their way.

Jeff Garlin‘s comedic style is pleasant and conversational, with a tendency towards delving into the absurd. Through a curious mix of spontaneity and grounded looseness, the “Curb Your Enthusiasm” co-star likes to keep things weird and off-kilter, yet still self-contained and approachable. It’s an odd balance, but one that worked quite well in “I Want Someone to Eat Cheese With,” his warm, breezy, entirely charming directorial debut that proved him to be a cordial filmmaker and appealing leading man.

You time is valuable, and so are both services for different reasons.War Machine (Netflix)
Although there may be a competition going on between Amazon and Netflix for subscribers, the truth is that both company’s streaming services are essential for anyone who watches a lot of movies and TV and who wants to be part of the pop culture conversations as they happen.
There’s no denying that Amazon Prime is worth the $99/year, which not only gives you access to many movies but also a good amount of music streaming and digital media access, plus faster shipping for when you actually want some sort of physical product (you can also just get video content for $8.99/month, which oddly means paying more for less).
And Netflix is still a must-have for both its exclusive and nonexclusive content, though depending on one’s usage could be best for sporadic membership rather than continued subscription — now at $120/year...
