wobbly movie with wobbly reviews
A_Different_Drummer6 July 2018
1. They have been making these "exploitation" movies -- wrongly accused teen sent to detention camp by corrupt judge -- since the 1940s. Seriously. 2. The IMDB external reviews make this sound like a mix of Godfather and Star Wars. It is not. 3. Bailey Noble is the best thing in the movie. She seems like she actually cares about her character, a claim no other cast member can make. 4. The corrupt judge is played by a character actor who always plays corrupt judges. The evil warden is played by a Robert Redford lookalike, which is just creepy. The cast is always dressed in Tide-clean outfits which is the telltale of a B movie. Bottom Line -- if you are sent up the river by a corrupt judge, and this movie is played on movie night, it is bearable. Otherwise it is not

The System Sucks...
bronzesrv11 January 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This movie really held my attention, of course it made me angry because I know abuse like this in our so-called justice system exists! I think they ended it too soon, it would have been nice to follow up on how the girls came out and to bring down that corrupt judge. The warden and his son got exactly what they deserved. It irritated me when they broke in the warden's house and didn't get away quick enough, she should have killed him right then! Not lightly injure him, for him to follow them. But I guess if that hadn't happened we wouldn't have had a movie now would we. I see a lot of homophobia in the comments.🙄To me that should not be an issue, it's one girl that acknowledges her sexuality and that was not a highlight of the film. Instead of being concerned about her being a lesbian character how about being concerned about the abuse that was caused by these sickening ppl that call themselves men. I gave the movie at 5 because again the ending was cut too short, and also I wanted to know the reason why her friend did not show up in court, that backstory should have been extended.

Movie was entertaining for what it was
hdc62122 March 2019
Looking for an entertaining 90 minutes, don't dig too deep or think too hard and you're fine. Lacking plot and dialogue. Decent acting and excellent music editing. With that said, about 90% of the reviews on here are upset because they made the main character gay. Which is just stupid. You're entitled to your opinion, but I don't see people putting down a movie because the lead characters are straight, so if that's your only issue with a movie... waste the excessive workout you just gave your thumbs, because you end up just sounding ignorant. To everyone else - Happy movie watching!

Sign the paper.

Warning: Spoilers
Plot spoilers?

Baily Noble plays an archer with the name Pierce...and the writing goes down from there. She is charges with assault and goes before a judge without a lawyer. She gets sentenced to boot camp where they abuse the inmates. If you have ever seen a prison girl film then you know she escapes and blows the whistle on judges who abuse the private criminal pay system which leads to graft in the justice system.

While the film deals with an issue, it didn't give us enough character build up on Lauren Pierce. The film dialogue was not good. Climax scene involve a bow...no surprise.

Guide: Partial F-word, partial nudity.

a mediocre movie with strong message
hello4110 July 2018
Is is my opinion that if one is to grade a movie they should consider not only performance of the crew and special effects but also the meaning and the necesity of it all. The message of this movie, wich apparently (read other comments) in not so obvious, it the best part of this production.

The movie is about the consequences of blind belief in the system and about the stupidity of opinion that the truth and innocence are enought to protect anyone. Obviously it is not The Shawshank Redemption but it is good enough for a boring evening.

Last thing. It is not necessarily a lesbian movie as there is only one girl that defines her sexual orientation. As to others: a person broken by years of abuse would be anything if it pleases their savior and drunken girl that tries to experiment with her best friend does not necessarily count as gay.

Rubbish
wshakespeare-527777 July 2018
About as subtle as a big billboard stating "All Men Are Evil". And though this current age of "political correctness" encourages this hateful message, it is expressed so poorly here as to be almost comical.

Too dumb to review
pwadsworth-552-38352124 March 2019
I don't know where to start. This movie was so witless and contrived from one plot development to the next that I was dumbfounded. This kept thinking now the real story will begin. But it didn't. And then the it was over. Perhaps a teenager wrote the script over spring break.

Cool Hand Luke Redux
lavatch14 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
In this harrowing tale inspired by a true story, it is revealed that thousands of minors have been abused in juvenile detention facilities in America. Specifically, two corrupt judges in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, were the catalysts for a ring that sent basically innocent children to the centers in return for kickbacks.

The film raises consciousness about this disgraceful social ill while telling a spellbinding story of a high school archery champion who was enmeshed in the system. Lauren fought an abusive boyfriend of one of the members of her archery team. Yet she was sent to the correction facility due to the rigged system and a judge who was running a scam.

The film resembles the classic Paul Newman film "Cool Hand Luke" in the depiction of a correction center out of hell headed by a sadistic director, Bob Patrice, and his boot-licking son Michael. The scenes of the young women abused in an isolated camp were wrenchingly painful to watch.

Lauren will put her archery skills to use in a daring escape in which she and her friend Rebecca seek to turn the tables on the their tormentors. The performances were first-rate and the fast-paced action was skillfully controlled by director Valerie Weiss.

The film delivered a strong message about the vicious circle that young people may experience once they are trapped in a system controlled by people who place personal greed ahead of human values ignore the basic laws of our Constitution.

Poor story
voodoomaster14 February 2019
Warning: Spoilers
So unrealistic. A talented "A student" sent to a correction camp by a judge that has no advantage of doing so, for beating up a boy in self defence. The parents are to stupid to do anything against it. There is no Story behindert an advantage of a camp, controlled by nasty obusive men. The whole thing is just b...shi.!

Finally exciting movie!
bokrosovas28 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
To me it was finally interesting, dramatical, and exciting movie with lot of tense. I was watching it with my boyfriend and we wished it lasted longer. We even liked that it was something different and girls ended up as lesbians. I hate injustice in the movies and in the reality too whatsoever. The movie made me feel like I wanted to take the TV and throw it out of the window because of the injustice and tense. I thought it could have a sequel where the plot would show the trial how the girls sue the judge and the whole girls' reform camp.

Surprisingly good
AdrienneGrayceMusic31 August 2018
I couldn't stop watching. Very good acting for a lifetime movie. Great storyline. Another movie that shows what disgusting things go on at these places and if you think this thing is not going on as much anymore, you are horribly mistaken.
