Will give this series a good chance but it's off to a shaky start. Pacing was frenetic which is somewhat understandable for episode 1 as they set the table for the series, but the episode wasn't able to grab me as the original did.
Ultimately, I don't understand how this series will work with the original Blacklist series; I mean, how is this whole Tom side story going to work with Liz? Or Reddington? The concept for the show doesn't seem like it's enough to carry a series, long-term. I hope there are plenty of crossover appearances as I don't feel this series can survive on it's own.
Matias and Tom are the two most interesting characters on the show and it generally works when one or both of these guys are on the screen, but otherwise, I don't feel a great connection with the other blacklisters.
Also, some beyond-belief moments in episode one made my brain hurt; I know the Blacklist usually has some far-fetched scenarios and concepts, but this was a bit much even by those standards.
*SPOILER* (e.g. How is there a GINORMOUS drainage pipeline DIRECTLY BENEATH a residential swimming pool??)
Hoping things will settle down as the series gets rolling.
