Seeing the inside of my eye lids
ItLookedBetterOnBetamax13 October 2019
Going into this movie, I expected something more akin to the film 'The Eye' due to the similar sounding plot. So was looking forward to a low budget horror flick. However what I got was a low budget romance film with some mild horror and sci-fi moments tacked on.

The movie itself wasn't too bad, it had a vision (no pun intended) and managed to successfully fulfill that despite its low budget. The world seemed realistic and believable right up until the end. Taylor Girard also did a good job of playing the classic homeless man cursed after being struck by lighting role that we've all seen before in other films and grown to love!

My main issue with the film is that it seems to sell itself as a horror film from both the plot, poster and title. The film also starts in this way with the main character seeing what was either dead people or evil schizophrenic visions. However the film then quickly turns into some sort of romance flick before attempting some sci-fi ending to explain away the entire film.

Despite the fact that some of the dialogue was often cringy and there were issues with the tone of the film, I thought it was actually a pleasant (albeit bland) low budget film with a feel good story about Will. This is the type of film you put on on a Sunday morning when you can't be bothered to get out of bed or off the sofa and just want something on in the background to zone in and out of.

Overall low score but not a bad film, just not good.

I wanted to like this

Warning: Spoilers
It's slow and low budget but that doesn't always mean bad, so I kept watching.

Good things... The lead actor wasn't bad at all, for what the movie is working with. The ghosts were actually creepy and scarier then a lot of bigger budgeted movies. I jumped a couple times. Music wasn't horrible.

The bad things.... Lead actress couldn't act her way out of this movie, if she tried. She's very beautiful though. It's very slow, about 10 or 15 minutes of just walking. The "twist" ending. Made sense for one of the "ghosts" who was chasing him and stopped to look for which way he went and then kept running. When I thought that was a ghost, I laughed very hard but after the ending, it made sense. The acting went from bad to worse during the final scene. I wasn't creeped out anymore and just laughed. I will say the commercial was nicely done though.

Overall if you can get through the slow pace it's not horrible but the ending killed it for me. Got to give credit to the overly happy, evil ghosts. Those were scary. For all that, good and bad, I give 3 stars. It kept my attention long enough to finish the movie, so there's that.

Was there a script written for this?
The writing is so bad I'm under the impression it was nothing more than an improv experiment by a group of bad actors. I gave it three stars because it was so bad it made me laugh out loud several times, which most comedies don't accomplish. The jab at the pharmacutical business that's taken at the end is pretty solid too. Over looking these itty bitty triumphs, this movie is just plain awful.

I'll never get back that time of my life. Warning: Spoilers
This movie had the worst music ever. We were playing a game and just making up words like the musician did. Wow, the guy who is supposed to be really smart gets taken down by a bunch of idiot goons. What was up with the "evil" visions? They had no part in the plot at all!

Really disappointed!

Warning: Spoilers
The movie started off slow but as it went on it got more intriguing. Frankly I thought there was another reason for what happened to Will. Like in that John Travolta movie I thought he got his gifts and symptoms because of a brain tumour. But the ending was just damn awful! Shame on the story writer and the director!

Had so much potential

This was an interesting movie that just flopped because so key "side effects" were not explained. Definitely not a horror movie; could be a sci-fi but needs to be more definitive. The lead actor and actress are gorgeous. With some practice, they can definitely have a career. The little girl was totally adorable. This plot needs to be remade into a more effective movie.

motivational, inspirational, real

Liked seeing real life scenarios like fixing laptop, homelessnes, love, becoming better, most of which reminded me to some real life problems and recent occurrences. Being attacked for no reason, experiencing symptoms, side effects, consequences, emotions...all make movie very real and challenging. So emotional. Motivated me to become better in most obvious areas like survival, religion, health... The only reason this deserves 2 stars less is that movie is negative and unexplained and bit fake appearance of weird characters. This is also nice topics like drugs, medications, maturing, nature... Cool advertisement at the end, which ironically is no different than for real life medications, our reality. Funny and romantic. Exciting skill and reactions of people. Causes curiosity a bit. Positive enough.

Seeing Stupidity!

Warning: Spoilers
Interesting story until WEAK ending with indictment of big pharma, I guess. Somewhat of character development until happy ending crushed with abrupt death of parents reuniting to raise their child. Just another stupid waste of time.
