One terrible mistake they did is breaking the fourth wall. While its important for the director that the audience like the protagonist sufficiently to persist with the story but in this film our psychopath is a sadistic rapist n I doubt any audience may like him.

Saw this last nite on Amazon Prime. This time our cop is transferred to a place where a sadistic, vicious serial rapist who attacks men, women, and children with equal brutality is on the prowl. Surprisingly our killer is a professional contract killer too. The background story is shocking n dreadful. The killer's ugly past and his profound violent nature with a face of an innocent chap may shock some viewers. Rani Mukherjee did a nice job but her boots n facial rouge were a bit unconvincing for a cop's role.

While the the 1st part is a solid crime thriller with lots of tension n suspense throughout, this one is dark n grisly.

One of the best part about this one is that the enjoyment of the film depends on sympathy with its theme of female empowerment.

Mardaani 2

Ever since I heard about Mardaani's sequel, I had great expectations coz of the only one lady, Rani Mukerji and i had some regrets that I missed Mardaani in theaters and decided to watch it in theaters on its first day. The cat and mouse game between the fierce cop Shivani Roy and a serial killer who loves to rape, torture and kills young girls. He is wild, cunning beastly and unpredictable behaviour with a dark past and is on run. Will Shivani succeeds in her mission forms the crux of the story.

Well, the fast paced narration and the background score keeps you engaged in this gritty thriller. The performances of the lead and the sub characters were sumptuous. Once again, Rani didn't disappoint me, she has got the right attittude as the SP Shivani Roy and was very convincing. But the debutante Vishal Jethwa stole the whole show. He was absolutely magnificent. The character was well constructed might be inspired from Korean Serial Killer Movies.

Gopi Puthren directorial debut didn't go in vain but his scripted demanded more justification of several scenes which will make us to think, "How did he??" "Is it possible". Could have avoided those when compared to Mardaani which was very raw, unpredictable and more intense. Another plus point of the movie was there were no songs and John Stewart Eduri scored the background music of the movie and it took the movie to another level. Jishnu Bhattacharjee's camera was also an added advantage even though it was not challenging.

Female empowerment / feminine speech (was good) delivered by Rani Mukerji which took around 5 minutes during the tension gripped scenes. Wrongly placed. That was actually a speed breaker and it was predictable towards the end.

All in whole, Mardaani 2 is a gripping thriller drama and watch out for Vishal Jethwa, a new star in the rising.

Mardaani or Mardaani 2.. I will definitely go for Mardaani..

In 2012, a 23 year old girl was raped and brutually assaulted in a moving bus in Delhi. In 2014 Badaun gang rape case sent panick waves across the country where two Dalit girls were gang raped continuously for two days, murdered and hung from a tree. In 2019, a female doctor was abducted from a toll plaza near Hyderabad raped and later her body was burnt. These few incidents have rocked the entire nation with widespread protest since government came under pressure, highlighted by media and I am just talking few here.. there are have been innumerable rape cases which have even gone unreported. We always wonder what goes into the mind of a rapist and this where Mardaani 2 comes into play.

From the writer of Mardaani, Gopi Puhtran takes the director's seat this time. Like Mardaani which focussed on the drug racket and child trafficking, Mardaani 2 tells the true story of rape incidents which is very much existing in India. Hats off to him for creating niche drama with well-written screenplay that will keep glued on to the screen till the end. Cinematography is just about okay. Art direction is natural. Background score is bad which could have been better Writing was definitely better but I felt the character of Rani Mukerji was somehow always proactive in reading criminal's mind.

Editing adds crispiness to the pace. Mardaani belongs to queen of hearts - Rani Mukerji. The supremely talented actress is mind blowing with her punches and fiery dialogues. Vishal Jethwa will surprise you as the psychopath killer who thinks a woman should be shown no mercy when they cross their limit. He is definitely a talent to watch out for.

Mardaani 2 is not easy watch but it will expose the harsh reality of the current situation with a strong message. Go for it ... Very good 3.5/5

The visual are so real that it haunts you somewhere in the show The villian played by vishal jethwa is extraordinary

Just saw Mardaani 2. I am shaken and can't believe the horrors some girls have gone through in our society. It is one of the best movies of this year. Hats off to Rani Mukerji. She has given her heart and soul to the character of Shivani Shivaji Roy. The young actor who plays the villain is PHENOMENAL. Other actors also add life to their respective roles. The story keeps you on the edge of the seat throughout the film. Such films should be seen on big screen so that Indian producers come out with more such hard-hitting and thought-provoking films. STRONGLY RECOMMENDED.

Mardaani 2 review :

He's a serial rapist cum killer...a psycho so godamn demented, the guy was responsible for killing his own mom. Egad! Frequently breaking the fourth wall to provide us insights on his devious mind, the villain of Mardaani 2 - a small time juvenile fiend - appears to give tough competition to even Batman's Joker. And this is the films biggest fallacy.

C'mon guys, do u expect us to believe a kadka lukha teenage guy can break in to a top cop's home, threaten a minister of the state and actually go to the extent of kidnapping and tormenting his relative. Nah! It's too unbelievable to be true.

Precisely, the villain of Mardaani 2 ends up being that. A super villain who can be possibly vanquished by an Avenger!! Only here we have top cop Shivani Shivaji Roy (Rani Mukerjee, impressive) on his trail.

Fighting misogyny within her department and finding enough time to appear on prime time television to offer a sermon on women empowerment, Shivani gets cracking on the seemingly impossible case. Will she crack it on her own?

Written and directed by Gopi Puthran, the film is admittedly relevant today where we have so many rape cases in the news. Nirbhaya's juvenile killer was let off mildly and given some social benefits as per the archaic Indian law. Bah!

Of the cast, Vishal Jethwa is outstanding as the menacing rapist who can go to any length to satisfy his ego and sexual urge. A super debut, no doubt!

At little less than two hours of run time, Mardaani 2 is worth a watch for primarily two reasons. One for tackling the sensitive subject of rape and secondly, for bettering the first part. I suspect this franchise is here to stay!!

A lot of uncomfortable emotions were triggered in me when I watched this movie. I am a survivor of mental, emotional, and physical abuse. I imagined my abuser in Sunny's shoes in the end.The ending gave me some relief.

A man does not understand what he does to a woman when he abuses her. It scars her for life. And even in this day and age, a woman who speaks up for herself or tries to be independent should be silenced and downtrodden. This is a despicable idea of most men that I don't think will ever leave this world.

Movies like this inspire women to be independent and that's how it should be. A dependent woman does not have a voice. So please, the next time you ask your daughter to give up her job to get married, think twice. Her independence is her strength. Every human being deserves their own self-respect and independence. A woman should never be at the mercy of a man.

If you were bring more girls and more unanticipated scenes it would have been more better but overall good film.. villain young boy was excellent ..i have been seeing him in crime patrol series and other thing if director would have consult with crime patrol series directors they would have add their flavors that could make a lot of difference.. Note it For "Mardaani 3"

The boy played villain role as real life Psycho teen age boys and Rani's performance is Extraordinary in 2nd Half. Film is to the point.

It's a good film but I personally felt that thriller part is quite less.The story has great awareness related to the violence against women.That's the most sincere and beautiful part.Rani Mukherjee is really good as the lead.

To endure Mardaani 2, the viewers need to have a strong appetite. Unlike the female cops portrayed in Bollywood thus far, the cop in Mardaani 2 is as real as real can be. Mardaani 2 is relevant, powerful and inspiring, with a top-notch performance by Rani Mukerji and brilliant execution by Gopi Puthran. It is surely not-to-be-missed!

In art, there are no paradigms that cannot be broken, and when we least expect it, we are surprised by ruptures. Director Gopi Puthran's Mardaani 2 is one of those rewarding surprises that break established standards without tripping or succumbing to feminist appeals and clichés. The film escapes stereotypes. It is a film for all audiences, appeals to everyone with an intricate and stimulating plot, stunning action scenes and competent cast.

In a world where - fortunately - women have more and more space, what until a few decades ago would have been unthinkable has been happening: we do have action films with strong female protagonists. This is the case of Mardaani 2 as well, which, even with occasional slips, consolidates itself as a work of good technical action - as well as fun and full of energy. it is commendable that the script (Gopi Puthran) establishes Rani Mukerji as a strong character - physically and psychologically - featuring in a variety of memorable action scenes and a series of keen moments, as she is not only good at fighting but also smart and shrewd.

Mardaani 2 grabs your attention from the commencement itself and never relents. Gopi Puthran's screenplay is replete with several intense episodes, which eventually make Mardaani 2 a good versus evil battle as the protagonist makes her way to the baddie behind the baddies. The stewing wrath of the protagonist is delineated convincingly while the director also incorporates ample emotional baggage that would cause you to associate with the on-screen characters. Seen in the present setting of the brutality against ladies in society in general and India in particular, a motion picture like Mardaani 2 couldn't have released at a superior time. While it may appear to glorify the brutality here and there, a hard-hitting motion picture like is the need of the hour. Mardaani 2 raises awareness of issues like the safety of women and the gender inequality that exists in society. It also motivates ladies to look within to trigger their very own bold soul.

The very well-executed culmination is realistic to the core, like the rest of the film. In fact, director Gopi Puthran manages to keep you hooked for most parts, without ever getting formulaic. Also, his stance to sidetrack the soundtrack is indeed courageous and commendable. The customary audience, so used to the mandatory songs each 15/20 minutes, may whimper at first, but let's be honest, similar individuals likewise protest if songs wreck the story when the dramatization escalates. Also, director Puthran resorts to realistic brutality to enhance the overall impact. The background score (John Stewart Eduri) is perfect and never goes overboard. The DoP (Jishnu Bhattacharjee) depicts the gritty environs with striking visuals, closing in tight on the protagonist in dramatic moments.

Rani Mukerji is evidently the best thing in the film. She is on a nailing spree. One cannot imagine this role without her. Portraying a true to life, forceful, aggressive and abusive cop with much-needed intensity, strength and dignity is no cakewalk but she slips into the skin of Shivani Shivaji Roy with elan. A virtuoso act, indeed! In a lesser entertainer's hands, the written material would not have been so ably conveyed.

The film's antagonist Vishal Jethwa is a revelation. He's absolutely intimidating and menacing all through. In spite of being hollowed against a powerhouse entertainer like Rani, Vishal ensures he leaves an ineradicable impression, playing a cold-blooded criminal. Also, his rustic Rajasthani accent is bang on, just enough to add more menace.

With a run time of just under 2 hours, Mardaani 2 is a barnstorming, shocking and outstanding film all in all. It might be a bit over the top at times but director Gopi Puthran keeps the scenes tight and tense through his terrific screenplay. The film acts like a sledgehammer. Book your tickets, pronto!

The first 7 minutes of the film is the best and a really great opening for an Indian film. It starts off with a young boy speaking to the camera (breaking the fourth wall) and giving the audience an insight into the villain of the film. I enjoyed this as we don't experience this in the first film. I really enjoyed Sunny's character. Honestly he was the highlight of the film.

This portrayal of a villain is refreshing in Indian films and I would honestly prefer seeing more darker films from Bollywood with just as good storytelling. The script for the film was good, and the dialogue spoken by Sunny was just right. However it could have been better for Shivani's characters.

Overall decent film which doesn't shy away from the darker issues in India and is provocative with it's portrayal of a predator. Decent storyline as well.

Rani is superb as always. But the new face Vishal owns my heart!

I would love to rate this movie 9/10, but the typical Bollywood suspense at the back end,spoils the momentum.

In love with the plot and the way there are great continuity synching that been efficiently sweeper by the director in his debutant. We need more of this stuff in our country. Must watch for every citizen, be it men or women.

Mardaani 2 - When you want to kill two birds with one stone, you often risk both. Mardaani 2 packs the twin objectives of highlighting the atrocities & crimes against Indian women (India stands at an appalling 131 among 152 nations for inclusivity and equality of women) and pulling off a high octane chase of a psychopathic criminal and in doing so, chooses a simplistic approach for both.

Shivani Shivaji Roy (a svelte Rani Mukherjee) returns to the screen as the high potential achiever, SP for Kota and almost immediately jumps headlong into the brutal rape and murder of a young girl, and issues a challenge to the unknown perpetrator that she will arrest him within a week. Her prey is a hardened young psychopath Sunny (Vishal Jethwa) who has been employed by a local politician for eliminating his obstacles. Sunny is incidentally on the hunt for women who are achievers or think independently, as they turn him on and are not in congruence with his definition of women who must be confined to domestic chores and kitchens.

Mardaani 2 makes the cat and mouse game quite riveting as Shivani shifts through myriad clues, connecting them together to trace down Sunny, but every investigative discovery seems to be hinging on intelligent hunches and hypotheses which fail to convince viewers who have been exposed to "Criminal Minds". The women empowerment & inclusivity issue is dealt with by Shivani going into a 3-minute long powerful rant against the misogyny, hypocrisy and regressive patriarchal society that is India.

With a short running time of about 105 minutes, Mardaani 2 is still a racy, intense and brisk thriller that doesn't let your interest wane even once. Rani Mukherjee as the sharp speaking, headline grabbing and authoritative investigator is very impressive indeed. Vishal Jethwa is brilliant as the distorted minded, highly expressive psychopath who matches Rani Mukherjee's prowess. Had the criminal investigation been somewhat more intelligent or credible, Mardaani 2 could have matched The Silence of The Lambs.

Rani mukhrji at her best once again. Best thriller of the 2019 and wonderful CHOTA PACKET BARDAA DHAMAKHH i mean vishal jethwa With wonderful acting and dialogue delivery.. Made my day..

The plot keeps getting thinner and thinner towards the end. story and message was good but after the second half and towards the end of the movie the plot and actions of the villain become unbelievable and unprovable. Rest okay

Rich execution, Great choreography, Newly found Golden Villain Boy and of course Comeback Queen our Rani.

Vishal Jethwa killed it, as the antagonist, was blown away after his tremendous performance as a psychopath!

The second Mardaani film is not really different, but more like a remake of their first film only - same story except the villain is a rapist cum Murderer while in the first film, the villain was running a human trafficking business. Otherwise, the second film has the exact same story of the cops chasing the criminal.
