English version of "Mama Ryjka", adapted by
Anne Wood of the production company FilmFair, was shortened and re-edited to a ~5 minute episode titled "The Muddler's Marriage". It was originally broadcast in the UK in 1983 (as episode 47) on "Children's ITV" (on Central Independent Television). Missing from the UK version:
- The opening shot inside the Moominhouse before Moominpappa takes his memoirs; a shot of the longcase clock; a few shots of Sniff when he's asking about his parents.
- A close-up of the boat with dolphins on the water, Little My and the Mymble's Daughter playing with a ball (which then goes to the water), the dolphin throwing the ball back to the boat (while the others are watching), and Hodgkins looking through his spyglass; Hodgkins ringing the bell and steering the boat, and Little My and the Mymble's Daughter waving to the King; Hodgkins coming to the deck to greed the King; excited Mymble's Daughter talking with the King; Little My screaming and Hodgkins ringing the bell.
- The boat arriving to the shore, and the Joxter throwing the anchor; Little My and the young Moominpappa bringing presents to the newlyweds; Moominpappa speaking about the Lady Hemulen; the King giving some instructions before the orchestra of Hemulens and the throne for the King arrive; the Nibling's boat arriving with the children gathering to the shore, the orchestra playing, and the island inhabitants watching; a wider shot of the King; Hodgkins whispering to Moominpappa, and the King sitting on a throne; an ambassador Nibling with a gift, and the King listening; the crowd watching the painting; a shot of the excited Little My, and the newlyweds.
- The original ending where the children to go to bed, and a shot of the rainy Moominhouse where the lights go out from the window.
