'Jab jab bhoot hasaa, tab mai bhi hasaa' i.e. every time the ghost laughed, i laughed as well. :D
maxpaingf6 May 2016
Warning: Spoilers
This movie represents Indian Film Industry as immature and imperfect.

The starting storyline of the movie is not descriptive enough and you ask yourself 'Why should i watch the movie further, if i don't feel connected to the main characters?'

My another astonishment - Jai (Sherman Joshi) lives in a worn out hut but wears the latest updated fashion of 21st century! I wanna ask, where in India, the 1920's, did he get his coat dry cleaned? And how did he pay for the dry cleaning service?? (He never took any money from his clients calling it social service)

Let's come to the branding. The movie is a mixture of scenes and ideas copied from Hollywood movies such as, 'The Exorcist', 'The exorcism of emily rose', 'The Conjuring', 'The Ring' and maybe more i don't recall all of 'em.

.....which goes bad on the image of Indian Film Industry.....being released in foreign countries like U.S.A etc.

The only thing I can remember original to this movie is bad animation. Example,

the whole scene with ship to London, turns out to be more close to Cartoon Animation films we've watched as kids on Cartoon Network and all.

So, I doubt they've even been to London and actually, shot out the sets on hill stations.

Meera Chopra's Acting is monotonous. Every time she gets scared, the intensity of expressions on her face is the same.

Expecting box office collections due to the previous image(of 1st part) of '1920 series' is foolery. Deception to public's trust.

The final impression this movie had on my mind,

'Jab jab bhoot hasaa, tab mai bhi hasaa' i.e. every time the ghost laughed, i laughed as well. :D

Nice comedy
pulkitrocks8 May 2016
This movie is the worst installment of one of the better Bollywood horror franchise 1920.If ambiance sound and pathetic CGI generated crows and Daayan give you spoof than this one will surely scare you.The only scary part of the movie was Meera chopra's performance.I was sacred every time she delivered a dialogue yeah she is that bad.The story is damn slow too even though there is a nice twist before the interval that could have salvaged this movie but that too is thrown out of the window 10 mins into the second half. The only saving grace of the movie is Sharman Joshi as Jai.All in all the movie has nothing that made the previous two installments a success. No good music,no horror, pathetic story and even performances are not good.

Half Baked Stuff.....
kinshuk-gaur14 May 2016
I am found of Horror movies and wait eagerly to watch specifically if it is a Hindi Movie.

After Ramsay brand of Horror Vikram Bhatt and Ramgopal Verma are holding the flag. 1920 London comes from successful 1920 franchise. But this movie disappoints, though the promos and the story looked promising.

Lets talk about the movie. When will Vikram Bhatt stop follow the routine that he is depicting in all earlier ventures. Though he is not the director but writer of the movie. For ages we have seen a mistress named as KESAR Maa... it seems like his lucky mascot. Copy the scenes of " The Excorsit " in almost every so called Horror movie. Try too catch ghost through a mirror this is the 3rd movie i remember that follows the same path

The problem of this movie is its half baked plot, lack of continuity of scenes. Very Bad CGI ...No scary scene at all wonder why this is called a Horror movie...

Direction is poor the director needs to work very hard as some scenes in the movie which are supposed to be scary turns out as comical

Acting.. Sharman tries hard but fails his look in the movie no where resembles to a poor Tantrik baba ( He looks like a model in a designer outfit)... Meera Chopra pleasssse can you learn acting though not her but the director's fault because he cast ed her... Rest is forgettable...

Cheers! to some of the Ramsay fans who might watch this, movie features some of the Ramsay's regular who show screen presence for 1 to 2 minutes and then disappear ... Surendra Pal, Gajendra Chauhan, Siraj Mustafa, Arun Bali , Sushmita Mukherjee...

The Climax of the movie is comical... Music is Bad.. Background music is also average. though Cinematography is good

Overall this is half baked movie and if you watch this will leave you in bad taste..

Vikram Bhatt please reinvent your horror or it is the time again when ... We want the Ramsay.. Horror Back

He is having a bad muscle spasm
nogodnomasters26 September 2017
Warning: Spoilers
While in London, Indian Prince Veer becomes possessed or at least is having bad muscle spasms. While in this state, his wife travels to India to find a Baba who can help. As it turns out, this is a very powerful demon that can only be exorcised by the Baba of Mewar, who happens to be Jai, the former lover of the princess. Their story is complex and twists like a double helix. Let's just say there is a lot of bad blood between the rich princess and the penniless shepherd, ex-con.

The film is more like a love story with a demon tossed in. There were two musical numbers within the film, although not the typical Bollywood where everyone stops what they are doing and does a line dance. The special effects were alright, however Veer's possessed squirm I found comical. In fact I found myself laughing at the film more than with it. Way too long, but then what Bollywood film isn't. According to the history of woman's skirt lengths, skirts above the knee were not worn in 1920...just saying.

Bollywood production: No swearing, sex, or nudity. Now there was a man reaching for a woman's top, must have gotten within 3 feet of the garb

Yawnfest!
subxerogravity9 May 2016
I was geared up to watch this one too. The poster at the movie theater made it look like a great horror movie and I could not wait to check it out. So maybe my hopes were too high going into it.

Basically a woman's husband gets possessed by a ghost and the only one who can save him is a her ex-lover who's love she betrayed and it got him sent to prison were he learned the dark arts.

The movie drags on for far too long, but then half way through the movie there is a really cool plot twist that made the movie so worth seeing. The only problem is, the movie does not end there and keeps going messing up the perfect ending.

My only guess is that Bollywood needs a certain type of ending like Hollywood does and is willing to screw up what could have been a decent picture in order to get it.

The lousy special effects and the god awful acting coming from the main actress could have been forgiven, if they would have ended with the great plot twist.

And I here that this is one in a series of films, and that the others are better and scarier, but 1920 London makes me not want to sit through any to give it a try.

This shrman joshi- starrer is poor attempt at horror
kumarvarun198910 October 2016
Directed by Tinu Suresh Desai, 1920 London is the third supernatural drama produced by Vikram Bhatt set in that year. The fascination began in 2008 with 1920, which was centred around a ghostly stately manor and an exorcism.

In 2012's 1920: The Evil Returns, the director, cast and locations were new, but the story revisited the themes of possession and evil spirits idea. Desai's 2016 film is set between in 1920s London and Rajasthan. However period correctness is clearly not a priority with the filmmaker as we see Shivangi, a royal married woman with her head uncovered in a Rajput court, and gliding around her manor in the UK with her knees and arms exposed.

This is a fashion forward Victorian era! If one were to dwell on authenticity, it would be hard to get past the changing length of Sharman Joshi's beard and hair.

So let's cut to the plot instead. The life of a happily married young couple in London changes horrifyingly after the arrival of a surprise gift from India. A spirit seeps out and possesses the husband. Shivangi (Meera Chopra) returns to India to seek help as she sees her husband Veer Singh's (Vishal Karwal) health decline dramatically.

Fearing that a dangerous spirit has possessed him, she approaches a renowned exorcist. He turns out to be none other than her former lover, Jai (Sharman Joshi). In spite of having been dumped and served jail term because of Shivangi's betrayal, Jai travels to London to save Veer.

The story relies on pulling off one major twist, but it's a rather obvious one and once you figure it out the sporadic and half-hearted attempts at grisly, jumpy scares ebb away. A jilted lover with black magic expertise is hardly likely to be a saint.

Sharman Joshi tries hard to play menacing, mysterious and repentant but he's just out of step in the part of an exorcist. Meera Chopra is unimpressive as the helpless wife while Karwal spends most of the film lying in a bed being eaten away by the evil spirit.

Besides one extended exorcism scene, and the painstaking make-up that shows Veer's gradual degradation by the spirit, this is a drab effort with hardly a shock sandwiched between all the frills, frocks and Rajput finery.

Perhaps all the horror there was, has been sucked out of 1920.

Audience must Abandon Bollywood Horror Movies.
anupapu89 May 2016
Warning: Spoilers
1920 London - I had very much made my mind that i will not write any review for this. But then i convinced myself that i have to tell my friends so that they don't waste their money on this. If ask me , i would say that Bollywood Audience must abandon Horror movie to full (for the record i went to watch it on friend's request on his money ). I don't remember when was the last time i had seen a good Horror flick made by Bollywood (may be the first 1920). And seriously saying , in the name of Horror movies they are providing nonsense. OK i will try to keep it interesting. The worst news is that the director Tinu Desai is a really bad director. I mean i didn't find the movie in control of someone , like nobody cares how bad actors are acting or how bad a scene looks. Ques No. 1)And Why This Is The Worst News ? Ans -Because Tinu Desai is also directing RUSTAM starring Akhsay and Illiana and i was really expecting something from that movie. Now my expectations will be low. Ques No. 2) How was the acting? Ans- Bad . Really Bad. You cant imagine this is the same actor who was so awesome in 3 Idiot , Rang De Basanti and Golamaal 1. And shocking last hit of Sharman was 3 Idiot 6 long years ago. Meera Chopda was even worse. She doesn't seem like an actress at all. Lets not discuss about anyone else. Ques No. 3) How were the story , screenplay and dialogues ? Ans - Vikram Bhatt is a decent director but he has never been a good writer. And i don't know why he doesn't concentrate on his directing carrier only . Screenplay along with editing is too bad. There were so long and unnecessary scenes you cant imagine. Let me give you an example. At the very climax our female lead gets a letter of our male lead , she read it , her expression changes , she walks slowly , call her husband , her husband looked at her , she looked at him , she gave him the letter , husband again look at her , then he open the letter and again look at her , then he starts reading again looked at her , then he complete his reading and again looked at her.. Nobody says Nothing and we go to flashback where it was shown that what was written in the letter . I mean that letter reading could have been a less then 2 min scene but i don't remember how long it went. About the dialogues , please someday tell the writer , if your movie is called 1920 London , it doesn't mean that dialogues written seems like have been written that long back. Ques No. 4) Is there enough Horror Sequences ? Ans - R U Kidding Me ? I felt like i just walk out of watching a comedy movie. Ques No. 5) Is anything at all good in the movie ? Ans - Yes Of course , i really liked the costumes of Sharman Joshi. He looked awesome. And for his getup , i will give this movie 2.4/10.. Oh , i forgot to mention , when nearly 3/4 of the movie was finished , i had to shake my friend because he just went to sleep. By ANuP APu KuMaR.

Funny Movie, Don't waste your time and money.
HailSatanxxx8 May 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Watched This movie today because of my friend insisted too much.

Bad Things of movie -> Ghost is great to play hide and seek and funny more then scary. -> One of the worst direction I've ever seen in my life. -> Bad story line -> Very immature movie mistakes, example, when sharman joshi throws wood block to mirror and it cracks but the locket he threw got passed, but how? -> Bad casting -> Actors didn't know what the acting actually is. -> bad CGI effects. -> sharman joshi doesn't look like mewad wale baba, LOL, c'mon he just look like a young man who can do good comedy but not horror.

One more funny moment, when a person (baba) want to control evil spirit, the spirit takes him in the mirror and beats the hell out of him and throws back outside of mirror, Its funny and i liked that scene because of that comedy which was actually should be horror.

-> Ghost just fly around. Why ghost took sharman's soul at the end but not anyone else? Hell, sharman could offer anyone else's soul to ghost, This is one more stupid mistake.

-> How ghost have the locket back if it was threw in the Thames river? is the ghost scuba diver?

-> At first ghost took control of the body of veer singh but later on the ghost was fighting with sharman joshi, basically director thinks that we are stupid, and yes that ghost has a body, lol a soul has a body (in mirror world though) then can we can call her a human?

Good Things of movie -> Found none.

So in the end watch something else like Tom & Jerry at youtube instead of this shitty movie.

Promising start ... but falls short of expectations !!
sanjubhat10 May 2016
I read a couple of reviews written by some of the respected critics on Friday. All of them had trashed the movie, calling it one of the funniest films of the year. So what did I do…. Went and checked it out on Saturday morning dragging my ever faithful, lovable but very reluctant wife with me.

This is my honest opinion about the film and what I actually felt after watching it.

Plot: A Royal couple - Veer Singh ( Vishal Karwal) and his wife Shivangi ( Meera Chopra ) from Rajasthan are happily settled in London. One day they receive a locket as a gift from one of the Subhedars from their hometown. This is when things start to go wrong . The locket is cursed and Veer gets possessed by a "Daayan" released from it . The evil one seems to be slowly sucking the life from Veer and hence a distraught Shivangi rushes to Rajasthan to find a cure for her husband. She is asked to meet " Mewar wale Baba", Jai Singh Gujjar (Sharman Joshi) who is an expert in dealing with spirits and cases of demonic possession . There is a parallel track here. Jai (Sharman) is also the ex-lover of Shivangi who had been sent to prison by Shivangi's parents. His only crime being that of falling in love with a princess while he is a person from the lower caste (how very original ??). Initially reluctant , he agrees to come to London and help her deal with the Daayan who has possessed her beloved husband. Rest of the film is about how they get about it and finally accomplish their goal.

Wait …… there is also a twist in the film which signals the intermission. Wont reveal it as it will act as a spoiler to the pitiful few who might be actually contemplating watching it in the theaters , especially after reading the reviews written by our esteemed critics !! What a travesty of justice indeed !! This is perhaps ,the only wow moment in the film , something different attempted finally.

What I felt about the film: Hey… not a bad film at all . Compared to the first two films i.e 1920 and 1920 – Evil Returns , this is far less scarier ( my wife will vouch for it …. she actually sat through the whole movie without running away !!) .

The makers of the film time and again stop short of going all out , especially after building the base for really scary scenes .This makes the scenes look ordinary rather than coming out as really scary ones . This aspect could have been covered better. Intentional or not … only they will be able to answer . This may be a let-down for the die-hard horror film buffs who had enjoyed the first two movies of the franchise.

Sharman Joshi has acted decently , so have the rest of the cast . The film comes out as an Horror / Adventure film ( like Shaapit – yoo hoo…. Anyone seen the film ??) , not too scary yet having its moments. Special Effects are good but nothing new has been tried out. This is definitely not a funny film ….. gives you the scares but not to a great degree.

Final Verdict : It is a good attempt but somewhat falls short of expectations. Watch the film in theaters or otherwise without paying much attention to reviews. " Dikhave Pe Na Jao , Apni Akal Lagao".

I like 1920 (2008) movie, one of the most scariest hunted bollywood movies and has good background story. That why I watch this 1920 London which is totally waste 0 of 10 story kinda lame, there on part that feel like scary. This movie is joke, look at Main protagonist playing poor but look at his dress.

Bad cgi, bad plot n its not scary at all.
Fella_shibby9 May 2016
Warning: Spoilers
The poster itself is a rip off of the movie, the possession of Michael king. Audiences including my kids were laughing in the theatre. When big studios hav started making horror flicks like Insidious, Annabelle, The Unborn, The rite, Conjuring, etc. there is no chance of cheesy Hindi horror flicks like these. Anyways I gave a 6 jus for the effort. But some of the scenes were total rip off. Like the scene where the possessed person walks on both legs n hands (the unborn). Even the scene where the spirit enters the body while the person is lying on the bed (cannot recall the name). The mirror thing is getting monotonous. The concept of another world in the mirror is getting stale. The only movie which pulled off the mirror/another world concept was a segment from the movie VHS 2. Another rip off is the one when the images from the photos scream. The black eyes n sealed lips r too getting monotonous. I always wonder, y a possessed person has to do hyperextension of their joints. The movie has nothing new to offer. Worst were the cgi effects. The scene where Sharman n his girlfriend standing in a desert in the middle of nowhere. Too ridiculous man. Even one of my fav scene from one of my fav movie, The Shrine (the statue scene) was badly incorporated in this. The makers of this flick shud watch small budget horror flicks (indie horror) from Hollywood.

Watch this, only for Sharman --- By,Maharishi Verma
vermasp-8178916 May 2016
Shivangi and Veer are happily living in London. But after receiving a parcel from India, Veer is possessed by a witch. So,Shivangi returns to India to seek help from Jai sing an exorcist. The story has nothing new to offer but the twist before the second half is interesting which do not last for long.Songs are good .Performance wise Sharman Joshi is impressive. But, the problem with this film is that the screenplay had been poorly written. And there are no scary scenes in this flick which can make you scream. However, the climax is the only nice part of this film which do not let you down. Though the VFX are good but not scary, background score could've been better. There is also a good thing about this film that it does not bore.Honestly, I'm saying that this is the only film in the 1920 series which I like.Vikram sir, if you had worked on script a little more it could've been a good horror film. "Wait for another film in series", is my advice to the horror fans.

Not Good.
Neha-Shree12 June 2020
I didn't really enjoy this movie. I thought the costumes were great, and the actors did a decent job, but so much about it just irked me. The conflict in the movie could have been resolved if characters actually communicated. The english countryside was ok. Bollywood has mostly managed to miss the mark by miles & this film is no different. On the whole, '1920 London' fails as a horror film.

Warning: Spoilers
When i read that this is an Indian horror movie i did't expect too much. But even though some of the effects were childish i could say,the movie is very good and some of the scenes take your breath away. Youn can feel the horror somehow and the romance between this couple. Strange combination but too good.. In the end the happy ending is that the married couple is still together and alive because the other guy gave his soul for them.. Nice try really..

1920 London is really Scary with terrifying moments and sequences. If you are fan of Horror genre, 1920 London will not let you down.
kaushalmodi19859 May 2016
Warning: Spoilers
In Year 2008, Movie titled 1920 released and merged the Success with the label of Best Horror in Bollywood. In 2012, 1920 The Evil Returns released and again marked the Success on Box office. Now, In 2016 after 4 years, 1920 London the third Installment released of its franchise. Will these part of 1920 leaves to expectation and gets success to fear the audience. Let's analyze.

Movie starts with arrival Shivangi (Meera Chopra) from London to Sikar (Rajasthan). She tells incidents that forced her to come back home to her Parents. Story goes into flashback incidents occurred with her husband Veer Singh (Vishal Karwa). Everything going well with them in London, until Veer receives a gift from Rajasthan. Suddenly strange things begin to happen with Veer Singh. 1920 London is really Scary in some moments and sequences. Some Scenes gives you goosebumps and makes you frighten. Especially, The Possession Scene, where Sharman Joshi set free to one women from Spirit, that Scene really gives you spine chilling experience. On the other side Movie struggles with lack moments, which makes movie boring for some time. But Its Background score which makes you connected to the Movie. Cinematography of Movie is top class. Cinematographer has done a good job of capturing the beauty of London.

Sharman Joshi has given complete justice to his role, not Superb but nice performance. Meera Chopra is OK in her performance. Nothing more for Vishal Karwar to do, but he done good job for whatever he gets.

Music is Strictly OK. there will be no problem, If songs where deleted. It may help to movie to short more 15 minutes. Only One Song 'Gumnam Hai Koi' was remixed very well which comes in end of the Movie as Bonus Song.

Overall, 1920 London is really Scary with terrifying moments and sequences. If you are fan of Horror genre, 1920 London will not let you down.
