Luke Combs is the man of the hour. The 59th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards nominations were announced on Tuesday morning, April 9, and Combs came out on top with eight bids, including Entertainer of the Year. Check out the complete list of nominations here.
This is Combs’s fifth nomination in a row for Entertainer of the Year, an award he has yet to win. This year he’s up against Kane Brown, Jelly Roll, Cody Johnson, Chris Stapleton, Morgan Wallen and lone female nominee Lainey Wilson. Women are consistently underrepresented in Entertainer of the Year, though Carrie Underwood won in 2020 (in a tie with Thomas Rhett) and Miranda Lambert finally prevailed in 2022. But we mustn’t underestimate Wilson here. She pulled off a huge upset at the CMA Awards last fall, claiming Entertainer of the Year despite being relatively new on the scene.

Dave Chappelle has shared his thoughts on Katt Williams’ recent “Club Shay Shay” interview, in which Williams insults other Black comedians.
Chappelle spoke about Williams on stage at MonDERAYS at the Hollywood Improv on Friday, an event hosted by comedian DeRay Davis. Although Chappelle’s sets are known for their strict no-phone policy, segments of his set where the comedian criticizes Williams have circulated on social media.
“What part of the game is this? He only ethered niggas. He didn’t say anything about any of these white boys. None of these white boys function like that,” Chappelle said of Williams during his set. “Katt is one of the best painters in the game. So why are you drawing ugly pictures of us? Stop.”
On Shannon Sharpe’s “Club Shay Shay” podcast, Williams made comments about Ice Cube, Kevin Hart, Cedric the Entertainer, Tiffany Haddish and Steve Harvey, among others.

Everyone is still talking about Katt Williams’ interview on Shannon Sharpe’s “Club Shay Shay” podcast, including Saturday Night Live.
The NBC sketch show poked fun at the interview, providing an eight-hour “extended cut” with Ego Nwodim posing as the comedian.
“Three things are true about me. I am 5’3, I have never told a lie, and I am 6’3,” she (as Williams) tells Devon Walker’s Sharpe.
Giving a nod to Williams’ ongoing feud with Kevin Hart, which he reignited during the real podcast interview, Nwodim joked: “Look, Hollywood made Kevin Hart. Everyone knows Kevin Hart was made in the same factory where they make Teddy Grahams.”
Pushing back on skepticism from Walker, she questioned, “Then why the hell he smell like cinnamon?”
Nwodim’s version of Williams also took a swing at former President Obama, wondering why his name has “all vowels in it,” and insisting he wrote Obama’s slogan “Yes We Can.

Listening to three hours of Katt Williams can’t be easy, but some sound bites from a recent interview have made the waves, triggering a response from his targets, including Ice Cube, Kevin Hart and Cedric the Entertainer.
In Katt Williams’ viral interview on the Club Shay Shay podcast, the comedian targeted the aforementioned comedians with various claims. The most damning is that Williams maintains that his Friday After Next character, Money Mike (a pimp…), was originally supposed to be raped, which he insisted on cutting. Ice Cube, who produced, wrote and starred in the movie, had a different recollection, saying Williams didn’t have as much influence as he remembered. “We do what we feel…and if it was a rape scene it woulda been in the movie. There was no reason not to shoot it. But that’s not my style. I don’t even like that kind of sh*t in movies.

Normally, it would be a little jarring for it to be August and still not have an official Emmy host announcement. But these are not normal times. This week, the Television Academy and Fox officially moved the 75th Primetime Emmys to January 15 (Martin Luther King Jr. Day), marking the first such postponement since 2001.
In a previous column I made a strong case for moving the ceremony to November, when at least the Emmys wouldn’t feel too stale or crash into Oscars season. But since Fox is moving forward with January, the silver lining is that there’s a lot more time — five months, as a matter of fact — for producer Jesse Collins Entertainment, along with Fox and the TV Academy, to figure out how to make this major Emmy anniversary a show to remember.
Much of that will come down to who hosts the telecast. The last time Fox aired the Emmys,...

Breaking Bad co-stars Aaron Paul and Bryan Cranston attended a ping pong tournament in Los Angeles.
It wasn’t just any table tennis tournament, though, it was the tenth annual Ping Pong 4 Purpose Celebrity Tournament, held on July 27 at the Dodger Stadium. The tournament is held annually as a fundraising event to raise money for Kershaw’s Challenge. This year, it was hosted by Cedric The Entertainer and New Girl’s Max Greenfield.
Kershaw’s Challenge is a non-profit organization led by Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw and his wife, Ellen. It’s nearly impossible to become a household name faster than Haley Joel Osment did in the late ’90s. The critical and commercial success of The Sixth Sense catapulted him into the limelight as a child actor worthy of being considered alongside adult peers in major award categories.
Osment seemingly managed to avoid the dark side of young stardom despite his entrance into the entertainment industry coming in a way that can only be described as creepy Af.

Justin Timberlake is among the slew of celebrities reacting to Tyre Nichols’ violent and deadly arrest earlier this month at the hands of five Memphis Police officers, whose horrific attack was captured on multiple police body cameras as well as street surveillance video.
The videos, released Friday night by Memphis police, show officers tasing, chasing and beating Nichols, 29, who cops initially claimed was pulled over for reckless driving. Since the video’s release, Memphis police have said there’s no proof he was driving recklessly.
For three minutes, Nichols was pummelled, punched and kicked, all the while he cried for his mother, whose house was approximately 100 yards away. It’s been reported that Nichols, an avid skateboarder and photographer, was on his way home from taking sunset photos at a park.
