Antisocial.app: Simply not as bad as the rating suggests
Platypuschow24 April 2019
2.7 is where Killer App/Antisocial.app presently stands and that's absurdly low. Movies only usually hit that level when they're hyper low budget and awful or rooted in politics/propaganda. This isn't either, so where is the hate coming from?

With a competent cast lead by Ashley Rickards and Greg Ellis this little cyber thriller is far from good, but not a 2.7.

It tells the story of a group of tech-head kids who get the opportunity of a lifetime to showcase their ideas to the biggest tech company in the world. However when our leading lady is betrayed and her ideas stolen on this grand stage she takes drastic action against them.

The film is fairly stylish, the cast deliver and the idea isn't entirely terrible it's just poorly handled. In fact sadly you could say that about most aspects of the movie, especially the end. The film chunters along building itself up then hits you with a very underwhelming completely devoid of shock finale.

This is one of those generic 90 minute thrillers you can do a lot worse than so in this guys opinion it's not deserving of such a crazily low rating. Make no mistake though this is light on originality and entertainment.

The Good:

Ashley Rickards and Greg Ellis

The Bad:

Weak payoff

A Movie Ruined by its Half-Baked Script
linayota15 March 2018
The script was atrocious and completely ruined what could have been a somewhat interesting film. Aside from the plot, the set design was sparse and unbelievable.

Could have been better...

But couldn't be much worse.

Ashley Rickards is hot, but that's about as far as it goes for her acting. Her ridiculous facial expressions and obviously fake anger and defiance just totally ruin her character. Honestly, it was very distracting and took a lot away from the movie.

I really couldn't get much past her stupid faces.

Talented cast...?
pink_floydilia30 May 2018
Someone wrote that this movie had talented cast however the terrible script let it down. Ummm. No. There was no talent. Nothing redeeming about this movie at all. Nothing that makes it bearable.

Don't Let This Movie Steal 83 Minutes Of Your Life!
thewrite012 April 2017
The film starts out with a three minute advertisement for the fake company, Titan, and it pretty much goes downhill from there. The whole movie was visually irritating to watch. The camera people were clearly lacking the proper equipment to keep their camera steady, so there was a lot of very slight, yet still all too noticeable wobbling. The main actress appeared to have neck or back problems throughout the first part of the film. At first I thought maybe the character was supposed to be sick or handicapped, but it was just a lot of unnecessary stretching and neck rolling on her part combined with the poor camera work. Some of the dialogue was poorly enunciated and difficult to understand. As if that wasn't enough, there was a lot of unnecessary use of split screen and stock footage, they kept doing this stupid static thing that was really annoying, and the various computer animations they used were just flat-out bad.

All the technical downfalls of the film could possibly be forgiven if the story was any good, but it's not. Jessie is a pretty unlikable character from the start and the story is so jumbled and mucked up with static, split-screen nonsense and bad animations that it is hard to follow everything- much less actually care about anything that is happening. I will definitely not be watching this movie again, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

So much less than the sum of its parts
KentaroK2 April 2017
Warning: Spoilers
When I first came across "Killer App", I thought that, like many other movies which have low ratings, I could at least find something redeeming about it... perhaps, I expected, it would had heart, but not enough post-production talent, as many independent movies do.

However, this movie seems to be an example of too much budget and too little internal critical review.

This movie seems to assume that, rather than suspend disbelief, it should simply demand we believe its world is as it says.

To describe any part of the plot would be to do the work which was not done on this movie: the rewriting really needed to be carried to the point of excellence.

Killer App features cobbled together concepts lifted from popular news, without thinking deeply about the veracity of those statements, their implications, or how to implement the plot.

The actors seemed to have talent which is "broken" by the terrible writing. They really try to portray roles, but the roles are not "fleshed out" by the way that the scenarios unfold. It is more of a jumbled set of events which contradict, confuse, and force us to disengage from the characters emotionally.

Even though the individual scenes may be well acted, they do not add up to portraying a character, so it instead seems like "bad acting"... but it is actually, horrible writing, or a lack of cohesion, sequence, and effective competence in the writing.

Nothing, at all, about this movie suggests that they were trying to tell a story. All of the talent on this movie was wasted, and as a result, your time will be wasted if you watch it.

Watch anything else instead.

83 Minutes? I Switched Off After 5
mboyd19862 February 2018
Warning: Spoilers
So maybe I'm not qualified (as I've only watched 5 minutes), but sometimes you just get a gut feeling that although it looks pretty awful - the acting is bad, the characters are ridiculous, the camera work is laughable - you simply know that it's not going to get any better.

So you head for IMDB and try to guess what the current rating is. I guessed 2 so was pretty close. I even checked the actor who was currently on screen and couldn't believe his profile: "Manny Perez is becoming one of the most recognized Latino Actors in Hollywood. He has embarked into the most pivotal steps in his career."

Really? It was his acting that made me stop watching.

So who writes the profile? Perhaps they are "fake profiles".

See you later gator
nogodnomasters22 July 2017
Warning: Spoilers
The film develops awkwardly in the beginning attempting to establish relationships. Linus Springer (Jonny Rees) is founder and CEO of Titan, a high tech software company, like Google on steroids. He has a number of young and teen app programmers and developers come work for his company. One such person is Jessie (Ashley Rickards) supposedly Linus' illegitimate daughter. Linus claims his absence as a father is what made Jessie strong..."A Boy Named Sue" philosophy that works better in a song than real life. Jesse has developed an app called "right click" that allows you to make some sort of on-line enemies list. It gets tied into Titan's network and it appears she has inadvertently created a "kill list" as people die around her.

The action takes place in a sparsely furnished neon/LED lit rooms. Not much cost for a set. Likewise the killings are in a small group. The problem with killer computer programs is that a person has to be somehow connected to be a victim and in this film it couldn't maintain that level past two people. Ashley plays the cynical daughter of a ruthless CEO who exhibits similar "coding." The film holds your interest for about an hour and then once things are revealed, the ending was severely anti-climatic.

Guide: No swearing or nudity. One sensual scene.

Neck problems
kennybenny-6950921 December 2018
This movie was terrible, I laughed every time she rolled her neck which happens like every 5 mins. The music feels awkward. Weird old school techno. All the stock footage of the city and timelapse do not fit. And the glitch effects are super annoying. A similar movie I found wayyy better was the Circle, with Hermione in it.

rachaelshaw-855109 June 2018
Wanted to turn off after first 5 mins ... thought I'd give it a chance.. BIG MISTAKE! I actually find it offensive they released this with the thought that it was good enough for people to view. whoever approved this needs to reevaluate their career choice.

Warning: Spoilers
I think the movie would've been better if the twist had been the main protagonist was actually an AI herself without knowing she was and was inadvertently behind everything. The actual ending was kind of disappointing. Otherwise I don't understand the bad reviews. Sure it's a B-movie, but if you're into computers, technology, coding etc., you'll be entertained. As far as her neck mannerism, I think she's just supposed to be a very tense person. She reminded me a lot of Nebula in Guardianf of the Galaxy,

I would have give a 0/10
davidefiumano16 September 2018
Seriously this is one of the worst movies I've ever watched in my life. It was so bad everything that I was just curious on how it could end up. The actors are terrible, seriously the worst acting so far. The protagonist is just embarrassing, at some point I thought it was a reality show in the movie and everything would have change but not, incredible! 🤣 I think the person who wrote the script just didn't know anything about technology, everything is explained in such a superficial way. No seriously if you are an actor just watch this movie to have a little ego moment and a laugh also!

Warning: Spoilers
So right from the outset I despised Jessie! She came across as a borderline psychopath!. And I agree about the neck thing. She is the most annoying LMN protagonist ever. In fact I cannot stand her. Saw her in another LMN MOVIE, pretty little stalker where she played a psycho killer, surprise surprise! The story is terrible. The stepdad was abysmal wannabe Steve Jobs! Oh and Ian gets shot point blanc in the gut and survives and later we see his arm in a sling. Ummmm ok!
