Awesome movie
ashsethi-99-24282110 June 2016
The trailer in itself is so gripping and i decided that i will watch the movie once it gets released. The movie will keep you glued to your seats throughout. Awesome acting by Randeep Hooda and perfect justice giving haryanvi role to a haryanvi guy and he has fulfilled it to perfection. It has some real intense moments and show how the blood racket runs throughout and even if someone is running they cant be just crazy for making money but ensure that they do it wisely. I believe Randeep is often underrated and if he keeps on doing these roles he will be a legend soon. Must watch if you want to see some serious content and acting.

Great Movie
maniiishshokeen24 April 2016
Great movie.. really nice story and amazing dialogues.. Movie is simple and realistic and yet amazing with amazing performances by all the actors. I think its a must watch.. Performance by Randeep Hooda is outstanding and amazing. To be honest I did not had much expectations from movie but the movie turned out to be really amazing. The movie is based on the blood racket in Haryana in 2002. Performances by other actors are also great. The movie is about how u get greedy and make mistakes to earn quick money and then end up in big troubles. The movie also shows the great time of yamaha rx100 you know what I mean, that bike was really popular at that time.

Best, Randeep Hooda nails it
faisalfaves27 April 2016
Randeep Hooda impresses with his villainous act in this 'blood theft' saga!

Randeep Hooda plays a Haryanvi ruffian who runs an illegal blood bank, but is like a messiah for the poor and needy. He's shrewd, he's cunning and he's dangerous. He did more than 30 movies since now, every time He is Fabulous. His acting stuns you. His acting is very genuine. I like him act as a villain in more movies, because he is so good at it, and even he acts as a villain but you will love his acting because of his mind blowing acting. Whenever I see his eyes during his acting, Oh my God they are like that He is acting in front of you, and you are watching some reality not a movie. No matter what role, He always fits in and gives his best shot with his amazing dialogue delivery, style and husky voice.

Laal Rang's screenplay is excellent, But also credit goes to the cinematography, realistic sets and the formidable talent of the supporting actors – portraying blood donors, corrupt officials and crooked doctors. Rare to find a well written movie with clear concept in Hindi Cinema these days.

Such an awesome movie, You Should Watch it!

Laal Rang Review: A first-rate film which is a gem: both underrated & undiscovered. Watch it now.
Achyut_Prashast_Singh24 September 2017
Movie: Laal Rang (UA)

Rating: 4.5/5

I have never enjoyed a film of this kind before to this extent: the film redefines the genre in the best possible way. Its realistic connect, well-handled and stirring emotions, highly impressive action sequences, naturally tickling humour and the message delivered by the film are some of the major reasons why the film LAAL RANG works. By the way, these are not the only reasons.

Randeep Hooda is the man who makes LAAL RANG rise even higher, as his top-notch performance will have you rooting for him totally. He has provided a great display of his Haryanvi accent, given that he comes from Haryana. His bonding with Akshay Oberoi is both realistic and heartwarming at the same time. Akshay, too scores extremely well with his performance. He performs even better than what he did in his jaw- dropping horror thriller PIZZA. Pia Bajpai is fine and decent in her character. Same for Meenakshi Dixit and Shreya Narayan. Rajneesh Duggal finally does something which is commendable. Special mention should go to the supporting cast for giving performances and breathing life into their characters.

Director Syed Ahmad Afzal does an excellent job by handling the subject extremely well. The conconcept he has presented has, believe me, never before been attempted in the history of cinema. So, it's simply the most refreshing film in terms of concept.

Each and every character is written in such a manner that all of them end up being memorable, especially Pushpendra played brilliantly by a skilled Rajendra Setiu and Shani Baba played by the hilarious Kumar Saurabh. The sequences involving the latter are simply the most hilarious as well as entertaining, especially in the second half.

Most of the sequences are commanded by our own superstar Randeep. See him emote and you'll laugh, cry and be angry along with him. His expressions in the second half are not easily portrayed by most actors. He deserved an award for this act, which he unfortunately didn't get. But our love is the highest award he can get.

Director Syed also deserves a lot of praise for maintaining a lighter tone and adding rib-tickling humour which is quite natural and ACTUALLY hilarious. He has handled many sequences extraordinarily, especially the entire pre-interval episode and the climax, including the twists and turns which are well-woven into the tale.

The action sequences too deserve a mention for they are highly impressive. Placed in a manner that most action films avoid, they give a great amount of excitement. LAAL RANG not just experiments with a different concept, but also gives hope to filmmakers willing to experiment something new without being concerned about the box office results.

This is one such film which is meant more for its audiences than the box office. It's a cult classic and highly enjoyable in each and every concept.

I must not forget to praise the music as well. It gels well with the narrative and manages to make a way straight into hearts. The editing, however is the only thing which needed to be better, especially in the first half. The romantic subplots are stretched a bit too much than needed, but the overall rendering is what makes you fully enjoy it.

You'll find yourself emotionally connected to the film in no time. You'll miss the characters and the film. I did. It has a great repeat value.

Technically, the film is a gem. I found it very relatable, since it has showcased not just Karnal, but also the city Haridwar, from where I come, in a beautiful manner. The cinematography is extraordinary, as are the other technical aspects. Another thing I mustn't forget to mention is the film never glorifies, justifies or promotes crime in any way.

LAAL RANG is the best action-crime drama film to come out in the recent years. With its fine and impressive concept supported by an even better execution and directorial vision, this film should go down into filmmaking history as one of the best films of this genre. I enjoyed it so much that I can talk about the film for hours without getting tired. One suggestion: in order to respect the hardwork of the makers as well as to enjoy the film fully, buy the DVD: original of course. This film's excellence will make you feel guilty if you've ever seen films on pirated prints.

Apt depiction of Real Life Incidents
khajjalindian13 May 2016
The movie was quite straight in the story line but the way it describes the incidents. It depicts the characters- Shankar, Rajesh, Poonam, Raashi and Gajraj Singh. The choice of locations did justice with the script. The movie was a low budget but the characters, songs and direction by Syed was at par with big budget movies. The film aptly describes the circumstances which were prevailing in Karnal at that time. Overall, it was successful attempt by Syed and the protagonist (Randeep Hooda) reflected the true character of Haryanvi lad. Rajneish Duggal at the same time provided the glimpse of an honest cop who was hell bent to unearth the syndicate and punish the culprits.

Must watch movie - hats off to Randeep Hooda
unniresmi27 February 2017
Excellent real life story with brilliant performance of the actors, this movie is on top in my list of best Hindi movies. I have watched this movie especially for watching Randeep Hooda's brilliant performance and the songs are outstanding. The quality of the dialogues are great throughout the movie from starting to end. The background music scored its best in perfect situations. I became not only a hardcore fan of Randeep Hooda for his performance, but I became a fan of Haryana village language too. Thanks Randeep for your brilliant performance, perfect dialogue delivery and timely gestures. Awaiting for your next movie.........

This can easily be given a CULT status.. no stone left unturned when it comes to story, acting, direction, script... and what a performance by some underdogs of Bollywood especially Randeep Hooda...He nailed it bit by bit..A must watch (only if you know what real cinema is) 😊😊. Every frame of this movie will keep you in aw. Being from Haryana I can feel and smell the real essence of Haryana...and who can forget the love for RX100 in those days.

A decent acting by everyone and an above average performance by Randeep Hooda steals the show. It's a below average script with very less feel factor. Director Syed Ahmad Afzal puts little efforts to pull this one out from a normal pool. A good editing and few more nice moments could have enhanced this a lot.

The Code of Blood !!
madhukar3027 August 2020
Laal Rang is very realistic movie, which follows the life of a few racketeers running an illegal blood transfusion business. The movie is very different not only from the typical Bollywood's masala offerings but also from the Indian parallel cinema scene. Thanks to the director Syed Aahmad Afzal's vision, Laal Raang excels in every way with even minor details well highlighted and ticks on most of the boxes in the right way. The authenticity in the characters makes the movie very interesting and keeps the audiences minds entangled.

Excellent cinematography sets the tone for the authentic factor in Laal Rang. A very good "There will be blood" inspired background score adds a resonance in average scenes. The Haryana backdrop and the Haryanvi language adds marvels to the screenplay, which is almost well executed. The biggest problem with Laal Rang is its editing, and the run time of 145 minutes, had the movie been about 100-110 minutes it would have had a more successful theatrical run. Randeep Hooda sets the screen on fire with the portrayal of Shankar, a rugged up ruffian and street smart racketeer. The rest of the cast too have supported the movie very well. The movie is not only casted very well but has lots of interesting characters as well.

Overall. Laal Rang lies somewhere in between mainstream commercial Cinema and parallel cinema. Except for its run time everything works in favour Laal Rang. A must watch movie for audiences who would prefer to see something different and authentic. It's a must watch for people from Haryana.

Catch it, if you are in the mood for some serious content and acting.
hrhkalways1 February 2017
Good movie.. nice story and great dialogues..

Simple, realistic and yet great with good performances by the actors. A must watch.. Randeep Hooda is outstanding.. Frankly, I didn't have much expectation from this flick, but it came to be pretty gripping. The movie is built around the Blood selling racket thriving in Haryana in 2002. I think the name and the central theme is a kind of a turn off for a movie goer in India. That becomes a kind of a deal breaker or road block for good cinema. But, in my opinion, the focus should be decided in advance like any strategy. 1. To be seen my as many people as possible or 2. To be entered in film festivals or 3. To be known as art cinema or 4. You don't care about anyone..and its just a canvas to showcase your skills.

I think whatever is the message, it will be successful only if seen by maximum people. So, keeping that in mind, the messaging shouldn't have been built around the blood racket…the racket should have been a side effect of the movie. Yes, I know that sounds kinda ridiculous. But, pls understand the mental motivation of the typical Indian masses who go to watch cinema….its escapist. So, if the title was made more attractive and the focus was on another point in the movie…I think it would have had a chance at better success.

If you notice most happier, funnier sounding titles tend to improve the chances of the movie being seen by a higher percentage. And once they sat through the first 20mins….they would have been too involved.

Randeep Hooda has hacked the Bollywood code! And I kinda liked the dark humor…very unbollywood…nice twist to it.

Catch it, if you are in the mood for some serious content and acting.

One of the good movies coming out of Bollywood this year, though not a big budget shooter…. Laal Rang is a crackling entertainer.

Great Movie, Music, Dialogs
sgupta001-817-77455727 June 2016
One of the best movies coming out of Bollywood this year, Laal Rang is a arguably not a big budget movie but with great performances is a memorable entertainer.

A gripping story of tales of love, affection, friendship, betrayal in the backdrop of black market trade of human blood and finally culminating into a emotional climax. The neo noir elements are so visible and yet the comic moments are so subtly crafted, that the movie stands apart in story telling and direction.

The movie excels in every department. Some really talented crew over there making the lyrics, dialog, music, editing and direction. Very realistically narrated, superb dialog (many deserve to go down as quotes) and a knockout performance by Randeep Hooda (playing Shankar).

The movie presents the classic time tested topic of a generally accepted bad guy turning out to be everybody's hero with an unexpected sacrifice. This has rarely failed with the Indian viewers!

Must watch
amitkishorebio27 December 2016
A must watch for Randeep Huda fans. Randeep's performance in Laal Rang and in Sarabjeet movie are the two remarkable feathers in his cap. Both are based on real life incidences featuring Randeep as male protagonist. The present movie impresses with its story-line as it maintains the suspense and thrill till the end. The intense acting by all characters and nice songs are bonus in the movie. The cinematography and directions are well presented. The movie has been shots in almost real locations of Karnal area, Haryana. Although the movie is based on the story with gray shade, however, overall THE STORY ENDS AT THE POSITIVE NOTE.

Randeep Hooda Once Again At His Best !
pakistanartcinema27 April 2016
Director Syed Ahmad Afzal Did Great Job Brilliant Storyline & Screenplay. Rare To Find Good Movies Now A Days In Indian Cinema But This One Is Different and Good Film. Randeep Hooda Once Again At His Best, Brilliant Actor He is Better than Shah Rukh Khan & Other Commercial Actors Actually. Randeep Hooda & Nawazuddin Siddiqui Both Real Assets For Indian Cinema Both Did Lots Of Different Roles Though. Laal Rung Shows Us Loyality, Brotherhood, & Never The Less Contructive Movie Not Just Showed The Flaws In The Society But To Correct Them As Well. Randeep Hooda Philosophy In The Film Is Whatever You Do Either Right or Wrong Do With Honesty. Best Dialogue In The Dark Movie Is Said By Randeep Hooda "HAR CHEEZ KA EK TAME HOTAA HAI" Really Awesome. Laal Rung Is Must Watch.

Couldn't finish it!
vishal_18519 May 2019
I only decided to see the movie on Youtube because I bumped across the suggestion on IMDB while rating another Bollywood movie. When I saw 8+ overall user ratings fot this movie, a quick search on Youtube was enough to find the movie available to watch for free. I started watching it and by every passing minute I kept thinking, "it should get better any minute now" but after watching it for about 30mins I was forced to give up any expectations or hopes of the movie to get any better and fonally abandoned it instead of wasting any more time.

The movie feels very filmy and script it weak and there is no character development or chemistry happening. Everything just falls into place without any reason or logic, simply because it would suit the actor (Oberoi) and the script writer. Like the big BHAI like figure, who knows police and also college administration becomes a very good pal with this NOBODY new kid in the college for no reason. Also, the actress also falls for him just like that, typical Bollywood script at its best. Imagine whatever and yhe audiences are supposed to accept whatever you present to them and enjoy it because it allows them to ESCAPE away from their own struggles. Come on, make something worth remembering instead of mass producing average movies Bollywood.
