A good series if you are into these kind of shows.
Breitschleif11 January 2017
I'll keep it short: If you are a fan of the True Crime genre you will probably like this series. It follows "the usual patterns" and executes the documentation and narrative quite well. It is nothing "special" but definitely one of the better shows of this kind I have seen in a while.

Unfortunately a few of the cases have already been documented/discussed in a lot of detail on other shows, but there are quite a few which I have never heard of before.

If you are done watching "The Jinx", "Making a Murderer" and I guess "The Killing Season" and liked those shows you will find some entertainment in this one, too.

Overall i would recommend it, 7/10.

One of the best crime shows on television
AlienOscillator17 October 2021
I watch a lot of crime shows, which, may or may not be a good thing so I get to observe the spectrum of what's 'out there' and People Magazine Investigates has probably been one of the best crime shows for a least the last three years (this year being 2021). The show tells stories without the need for dramatic music, over-dramatization or the repetitiveness of other crime shows. The presenters/journalists are thoughtful, well presented and likable. The stories are well covered and thorough in all aspects. Well done.

Suspenseful series throughout
liyahwhitfield10 August 2021
It's a good show. Some of the episodes have no resolution to the crimes depicted, so that can be annoying. Keep someone at the edge of their seat till the very end and then oop no closure! Well that's life sometimes! Overall a very interesting show.

SUGGESTION
lindathomason-188054 November 2018
I don't know how to reach the producers, but I would like to suggest a high-profile very cold case that should be investigated by someone. There appears to have been a cover-up of the murder of Valerie Percy back in the 60s. It remains unsolved. Valerie was the daughter of Charles Percy, a prominent US Senator from Illinois. Her twin sister, Sharon, is married to former governor and US Senator of West Virginia, Jay Rockefeller. Valerie was murdered in her bedroom at her parents' home. I think this could be an interesting episode for the TV series on ID Channel. Thanks.

season 3 episode 1 Somebody's Watching.
jjforever-099037 November 2018
I don't know if woukd even help, or has been investigated. But if Steve's brother Brian's alibi was confirmed by time via video from surveillance system at his parents' house, the time on video cameras can be manipulated to show he was there at the time said. I saw this done on another ID crime show. I'm not sure if the video timer only was what was supposed to corroborate his alibi or not. Just food for thought.

I like the stories but the hosts are a little over the top
hilnickerson16 August 2022
Marc in particular, presents like he's reading a book to a 5 year old. Overall, toning down the fakie, cheese, over the top story telling, would be nice.

I like the stories though, and will keeping watching, even through the regular cringy narrations.

Voice fry and nasal whine
TabithaX29 November 2020
Please stop using People Magazine team members who have horrible habits of voice fry, valley girl speak and like sounding more nasally than 14 year olds. I had to turn Law & Order espisode off today because of this.. .voice class.

Hire a professional voice over actor
mckinnea9 August 2022
The stories are usually interesting and would be more so if the People staff would just stay behind the cameras and not narrating awkwardly in front of them. It's really bizarre.

Get professional hosts:
jayydee331 July 2022
The PMI staff are not good announcers and some--Alicia Dennis, have a very irritating voice. One woman keeps point her fingers and moving her hands around while she talks. The guy with the ten day beard has a horrible voice and always looks like he just got out of bed.

Really, none of their staff are any good at narrating this series. Don't know why they have to even be involved.

Could be an interesting series with professional announcers.

No conclusion

What's the point of a show if there is no conclusion? The narrators are annoying too.

Reference the Hervey Mendillon Case
johndzara13 September 2020
Why would a reputable company such as yourselves give a platform to a family to praise him and your commentors to praise that he was just trying to live an American Success Story when the life he made for himself was off the backs of good Americans and Immigrants trying to make it in this country. He had the means to retire here working for the cartels and being an agent to help entertain cartel family members in this country being paid very well all that time with drug profits that has been a battle in this country for decades? A Veteran of the Armed Forces for 23 years, sincerely.

Recycling
zorha4 September 2021
This is just recycling other true crime tv episodes. Exact programs and they throw in a new commentary. So disappointing.

No Answers
dianebobberardi6 August 2023
I do not like this show as after four hours of watching ..... there are no answers. No killer caught. No resolution. Just an endless stream of unanswered questions. I do hope it helps the killers get caught but I am left frustrated by the unknown. I was disappointed because I did not know in advance that the cases were unsolved. Consider changing the name to Unsolved Investigations or People Investigates unsolved Cases. We finally erased all we had recorded. My husband was not pleased.

My hope is that these old unsolved cases may have a chance at being finally resolved if people watch and bring new information forward.

love true crime hate this show
syahrlin31 December 2022
Narrators are horrible and quit recycling crimes. Saw the first few episodes poorly done and unwatchable! Episodes are overly drawn out and many have no outcome and are unresolved. Also telling us who committed the crime at the beginning takes away from any mystery. Terrible show!

Sensationalizing Trauma
My God, season 6 isn't listed here but yuck, I need a shower after S6 E2- what a gross family with grotesque behaviors; this mother is just disgusting, the husband's family, the children, they're all absolutely abhorrent. This is what we're reduced to for programming? They're all still making excuses for incredibly horrible behavior, blaming everyone else for their issues, and the mother moving in with the daughter is SO predictable and ridiculous.

They all deserve each other and I'm not shocked in the least that they're all still dealing with the past issues, and Priscilla is the worst of them all. She apologizes and then placed a big BUT there and completely eradicated anything resembling an apology.

Stop feeding into this perversion- I'll never watch it again.

Crime genre
jmmiller-9451529 October 2023
I watch these kind of shows to help to prevent myself from ever being a victim of a violent crime. The show is okay, but the narrators are not so good. They mispronounced many names of victims and perpetrators. The family members tell interesting stories, but the staff speak as though the audience is a child. They also add a lot of speculation. The family does this as well, but the staff should stick to the facts. Every crime show repeats the same information over and over with this show continuing the tradition of repeating everything. I will watch the entire series and will continue to roll my eyes at the staff.

Typically interesting cases
People Magazine Investigates is another true crime show. Typically interesting cases are covered in an (almost) professional way. A phenomenon you see in many likewise series is the need to fill an hour of airtime, repeating the same thing over and over. I do not get that idea from this series, basically everything is covered appropriately and not to much is repeated.

Although many of the cases are covered in other true crime series, this can be said for all shows. (Duh)

People Magazine narrators are terrible however, not sincere, pedantic, like reading a book to children. It is acting of a terrible level, annoying and clearly an ill conveiced attempt to stand out.
