Simple, with a nice feel to it
hannesrunheim15 May 2019
How the other reviewers find this 10/10 is beyond me. It seems like the ratings are false. I give it 6/10 and thats quite high according to me.

Its a nice movie, slow and, dreamy. Some acting is ok others is not so much.

In short, a simple, short and low-budget movie with a nice feel to it.

Be That Special Someone
TruthLove1314 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This film stands out for its story of a socially anxious, nervous, sweet young man. There needs to be more awareness of the struggles and unkindness that individuals with social anxiety face daily. It's not their fault that they react as they do and Zel's character (what an exquisite, memorable name) reminds us of this. I didn't care for the dream scenes; felt like they were too sexualized and weird, but I appreciated the emotional and meaningful climax of the film. So satisfying is the moment when Zel finally finds a woman who accepts him for who he is and doesn't treat him mean like everyone else does. That scene strikes a chord for anyone who is experiencing love for the first time after having been in the shadows and scared for so long. And the music is so stirring. This movie can remind us to try to be that special someone for a person who is being treated like an outcast.

Definitely worth a watch if you're into mind bending movies.

Not a classic by any means but this is nevertheless a decently made movie for what it is. Well acted, directed and being a movie about lucid dreaming it definitely catches the sense of 'is it or isn't it a dream?'

If you like that element of confusion in a movie then Lucid is worth a watch.

Terrible, other reviewers are bots

I made an imdb account just to warn you. This movie is a waste of time and the positive reviews are from bots or are fake.

Familiar to me, but I wouldn't call it a thriller.

Warning: Spoilers
It's an interesting flick. It's not a thriller in that it's not scary nor chilling (at least I didn't feel it was).

Lucid Dreaming is a real thing. The technique to control your dreams was taught to me to help me overcome nightmares. It does work and works fast.

I don't know if overdone it could cause you to not be able to distinguish reality from dreams- I doubt it though. But, I guess it's possible...

It's worth watching and it is thought provoking - what is the difference between us in a dream and in real space and time?

Waste.. not sci-fi
noorshatkabir6 November 2021
Sick a waste of money that I paid to watch us with high expectations. The filmmaking was simply too bad below standard Of today's film. It's not even about the budget of the movie but the it was directed to overall making just terrible. Storyline had potential but a blunder. This ain't a sci-fi folks.

A deeply thought provoking film with some very natural performances by main cast, and beautifully shot sequences from start to finish.

over rated in the reviews

I first started to like the movie., Laurie Calvert was very good in portraying Zel., you really believe in him as Zel., but that's about it, the middle part was smoothly along the story line, what was expected did come to be expected then ending just crash landed it hard. I don't like the ending but I guess the Director wanted it to be that way, I gave it a 3/10 but plus 1 for Laurie Calvert's performance and Billy Zane was awesome as always!!

Sad movie about a sad person

The longer it goes the less you care for anything that happens. It's a very average film. Billy Zane has no hair irl so he looks different with a wig.

Completely grabbed by every second

Completely grabbed by every second. Every time I watch this movie I pick something else up, in the detail of the characters and story. It's so beautiful, raw, yet delicate and admirable in its overall message (which varies for every person). 10/10

Apologies for the confusion earlier. As of 2018, "Lucid" is a British independent film directed by Adam Morse. It follows the story of a young man named Zel, played by Laurie Calvert, who discovers he has the ability to lucid dream.

The film dives into Zel's struggle with narcolepsy and his unique ability to control his dreams. As he delves deeper into the world of lucid dreaming, Zel finds solace and a sense of freedom from his reality, exploring his desires and fantasies within his dreams.

"Lucid" explores themes of self-discovery, escapism, and the blurred lines between dreams and reality. It employs visually captivating sequences to portray the fantastical dream world juxtaposed with Zel's challenges in the waking world due to his narcolepsy.

Laurie Calvert delivers a compelling performance as Zel, capturing the character's vulnerability and desire for control over his life. The film's narrative, though at times disjointed, offers an intriguing concept that explores the human psyche and the power of dreams.

Despite its limited release and relatively low-budget production, "Lucid" presents an ambitious and thought-provoking take on the complexities of dreams and the human mind, making it an interesting watch for fans of independent cinema and those intrigued by the concept of lucid dreaming.
