Ryan Gosling is living his best life these days. Or certainly his funniest. After earning an Academy Award nomination purely based on his ability to persuasively turn “Kenergy” into a noun in last summer’s Barbie, he brought that pure, uncut Ken stuff to the Oscar stage. No, not by winning the prize, but by taking home the hearts and minds of the internet with an epic performance of “I’m Just Ken.”
In hindsight, the spectacle of it all might be viewed as a turning point in his career as audiences embrace the guy who seemed so stoic and tortured in the 2010s—with his understated leading roles in Drive, Blade Runner 2049, Blue Valentine, and First Man—as actually a great comedy talent. His next studio vehicle, The Fall Guy, is in theaters now, and we can vouch for it being a breezy, lighthearted entertainment given life by...

This Is Us fans will get a treat in the upcoming Tracker finale, as Jennifer Morrison and Justin Hartley, whose characters were great friends on the popular NBC drama, will be reunited. Speaking to Collider, Hartley, who serves as the lead actor and executive producer for Tracker, revealed his former This Is Us co-star will have a “key role” in the finale. “I’ll give you a little tidbit, in the finale, we have Jennifer Morrison coming on to play a key role,” Hartley told the publication. “I haven’t worked with her since This Is Us , and she comes on as an old family friend of Colter’s, from way back when they were kids. And so, that whole family dynamic leaks out a little bit through her experience with him in the finale.” He added, “So, there’s that. I probably wasn’t supposed to tell you that,...

Love is what many of us are inadvertently drawn to within the series.
But it also garners the most drama, and some of it is contrived and unnecessary.
It is far too familiar now for television series to put some of the most notable couples through the wringer for the sole purpose of angst and drama. Yes, we're looking at you, Chenford.
Unfortunately, the status quo for many series has become putting interesting characters together and then showing how terribly they are at conflict resolution.
It's like series are so determined to capitalize off the drama and angst within relationships that they don't even bother investing in any other angle.
It's become frustrating that series have resorted to the same patterns when showcasing their couples and what they go through rather than delivering on the more realistic and inspiring option of serving as positive examples for relationships.

CBS’ Tracker released earlier this year may have brought Justin Hartley to a whole new level of fame, but the actor’s face was very well-known before the show hit the channel back in February.
Several years before he landed the leading role in Tracker, Hartley starred in NBC’s family drama series This Is Us, the appearance in which may have foreseen something bigger coming in the actor’s way from CBS’ part in particular.
Though the series eventually ended back in 2022 letting Hartley jump straight to Tracker, such a transition surely felt like a drastic change in all aspects, but Hartley seemingly had no problem with it at all.
A brief disclaimer for those who didn’t get to see any of these shows so far: Hartley’s roles have solid zero matches in the characters’ looks and personalities. In This Is Us, the actor portrays Kevin Pearson,...

Monday’s episode of The Voice — and the end of Season 25’s Playoffs — served up a painful reminder that sometimes it’s not enough to be “cute as a button.” Chance the Rapper and Reba McEntire had to shrink their teams of five contestants apiece to just three each. Along the way, some promising singers were cut (although, to be honest, none that I was as sorry to see go as Anya True and Mafe last week). Which six acts were the last put through to the Lives? If you've been wondering when we'll meet the mysterious, potentially deadly old brother of our favorite reward-seeker, Colter Shaw, you are in Big-time luck.
News dropped officially via Justin Hartley's Ig page that Jensen Ackles -- yes, That Jensen Ackles -- would be joining Tracker as Russell Shaw. And the internet is going Wild.
Why are they going crazy, exactly? Because Justin Hartley and Jensen Ackles teaming up in an action-adventure series as brothers is just about the most perfect casting I've seen in a while.
And it goes far beyond the fact that they could actually pass for long-lost siblings.
Colter's journey throughout Tracker Season 1 has taken him across the United States, where he's helped countless people track down missing loved ones and even those who weren't necessarily looking to be found.
But while he's been racing around, saving the day and collecting his paychecks, he hasn't been able to outrun his past.

Actor Justin Hartley has become a huge primetime star with his iconic role in This Is Us as Kevin Pearson, not to mention his huge breakout hit this year, playing Colter Shaw on Tracker. Still, he recently had an interview where he talked about his “ridiculous” start on soap operas.
Justin Hartley’s – Early Daytime Drama Days
Before diving into the world of primetime, Hartley started in the land of daytime drama. From 2002-2006, he was in the soap opera (now canceled) called Passions where he played Nicholas Foxworth “Fox” Crane.
Not overly shocking, but the show took advantage of Justin’s chiseled features and ripped physique, showcasing him in plentiful scenes where Hartley walked around without a shirt on.
Justin reflected on his time with the soap, noting that the show had him shirtless around a hospital for three weeks. He adds that it was “ridiculous”, but he loved it.

Justin Hartley took a big risk career-wise when he took his now iconic role as Kevin Pearson in This Is Us. At the time, he was primarily a pretty face in soaps, and he took a big risk that completely paid off. Recently, the Tracker star reflected on his early soap days, and some of the “ridiculous” things he did when he got his start. So, what did he have to say?
Justin Hartley Got His Start As The Pretty Face In Soaps
It’s no secret that soaps have a tried and true formula of casting pretty people to star in them. Often, former models looking to break into acting find themselves on various soap operas. This is one industry where having a pretty face and toned abs can certainly work in your favor.
This was exactly the case for Justin Hartley when he broke into the industry and first got his start.

It’s a This Is Us reunion! Jon Huertas, who starred on the NBC drama with Justin Hartley, directed the April 21 episode of Tracker, which is already a hit for CBS (and is coming back for a second season). “It was a great episode. It really came together really well. We worked really hard on it, so I’m proud of it,” Huertas tells TV Insider. “It’s always great to work with Justin.” In the episode, “Aurora,” Colter (Hartley) searches for a missing girl who disappeared three years ago and is presumed dead. Her father shows him a newspaper photo from a recent county fair he’s convinced is her, and Colter’s search leads him into the world of amateur ghost hunting and paranormal activity. Below, Huertas talks about reuniting with Hartley, directing this episode, and more. Talk about reuniting with Justin and directing him again outside of This Is Us.

Was Justin Hartley nervous about the launch of his new drama series, Tracker, which had the honor of premiering in this year’s coveted post–Super Bowl timeslot? According to the actor formerly known as Kevin Pearson on NBC‘s This Is Us, not until the intense 49ers–Chiefs game went into overtime. “I was like, ‘Oh, so we’re asking people to tune in [to our show] at 11:15 pm?’” he says. Thanks to what Hartley calls “the power of the Super Bowl, the power of Taylor Swift, the power of the NFL and a really great game,” those worries were short-lived, as 18.4 million live viewers stayed up for Tracker’s premiere. Beyond that solid debut, episodes in the drama’s regular timeslot averaged a strong 7.2 million live viewers. “All of that is a testament to how good of a show we’re putting out, and it’s just ...

Update: According to Deadline, Margaret Qualley will no longer play Amanda Knox in the upcoming Hulu series due to scheduling conflicts. The part will be recast, but there isn’t expected to be any delay as the production isn’t scheduled to begin until October.
— Original article follows —
Margaret Qualley will play Amanda Knox in an eight-episode limited series ordered at Hulu. The show is “based on the true story of how Knox was wrongfully convicted for the murder of her roommate Meredith Kercher and her 16-year odyssey to set herself free.“
The series was created by Kj Steinberg (This Is Us), who will serve as writer and executive producer. In addition to starring as Amanda Knox, Qualley will also executive produce alongside Steinberg, Warren Littlefield, Lisa Harrison, Ann Johnson, and Graham Littlefield. Monica Lewinsky is also onboard as an executive producer, with Amanda Knox and Chris Robinson producing via Knox Robinson Productions.

Margaret Qualley is no longer going to star in Hulu’s limited series about Amanda Knox, Variety has confirmed.
The untitled series was announced in March with Qualley set to star and executive produce. She has reportedly exited the project due to scheduling conflicts. The role will now be recast.
This is not the first time Hulu has lost its lead actress in a limited series based on a real person. Kate McKinnon was once attached to play Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes in what would become “The Dropout,” the role that was eventually played by Amanda Seyfried. Seyfried would go on to win an Emmy for her work on the show.
Hulu has ordered eight one-hour episodes of the show. The official description states that it is “based on the true story of how Knox was wrongfully convicted for the murder of her roommate Meredith Kercher and her 16-year odyssey to set herself free.

This Is Us hasn’t even been off the air for two years, but that doesn’t mean that fans wouldn’t love to see the Pearson family—extended, too—back on their screens in some form or another. At least for now, though, it really does sound like the only type of reunion to come is the This Was Us rewatch podcast. “I don’t think [a revival or spinoff] will happen for This Is Us,” Jon Huertas, who played Miguel and directed two episodes, tells TV Insider. “This story was super personal to Dan Fogelman and he told the story the way he wanted to tell it and ended it the way he wanted to end it. And I think it might do a disservice to the show if someone other than Dan especially tried to put something together. But I think that the story has been told, and I can’t...

In spite of its placement in TV’s best time slot, CBS‘ Tracker is garnering a lot of negative attention due its inconsistent schedule. The drama series starring This Is Us actor Justin Hartley was one of the newest hits on network TV following its big breakout premiere after the record-breaking 2024 Super Bowl on February 11. However, fans have not only been shorted two episodes of the premiere season (once in March for March Madness and again in April for the CMT Music Awards), but the airing time keeps changing as well. Initially, the drama was set to air at 9/8c every Sunday night. However, following the week off air for the CMT Music Awards, the network moved the air time to 8/7c to make space for The 100th: Billy Joel at Madison Square Garden, a one-time event also set to air on April 14. However, on April 14, the newly announced 8/7c...

Update (04/12/2024): It’s official: Mandy Moore, Sterling K. Brown, and Chris Sullivan have launched a This Is Us rewatch podcast, titled This Was Us, the show’s stars announced on the Instagram page that led to speculation that that was what they had planned. It begins on May 14. “We are So excited to finally announce that we (big) three are taking back Tuesdays and bringing #ThisIsUsback,” the three wrote in the Instagram caption. “The Pearson’s story may have ended after six seasons, but our stories continue on. For six seasons and 106 episodes, Tuesdays brought us together with tissues in one hand and pantry wine in the other. Why? Because we see ourselves in the fabric of their lives. We may or may not have cried at least once every episode, but let’s just say our tears served as emotional catharsis…” The statement continues, “Sibling rivalry, body issues,...

Exclusive: Milo Ventimiglia, star of This is Us and Heroes, has new representation.
The actor has signed with WME. He was previously repped by Verve.
It comes after he starred in ABC drama series The Company You Keep, which ran for one season. His production company Divide Pictures, which he runs with Russ Cundiff, produced that series and has sold a slew of projects to networks and streamers. Divide has a deal at 20th Television.
Ventimiglia is best known for starring in NBC drama series This Is Us, which ran for six seasons and over 100 episodes. In addition to play Jack Pearson, a character that helped him score three Emmy nominations, he also directed a number of episodes.
He recently starred in the feature film Land of Bad, opposite Russell Crowe and Liam Hemsworth and led Disney film The Art of Racing in the Rain, an adaptation of the novel by Garth Stein.

“Abbott Elementary” received the same three supporting acting Emmy nominations across its first two seasons: Janelle James and Sheryl Lee Ralph for supporting actress and Tyler James Williams for supporting actor. The comedy is likely to pick up those three bids again for its third season this year, but will it score any beyond that? Also eligible are Lisa Ann Walter in supporting actress (eighth place in our combined odds), as well as Chris Perfetti (10th place) and William Stanford Davis (21st place) in supporting actor — and their categories may be open enough for them finally to break in.
Walter, Perfetti and Davis missing for Season 1 is not at all surprising. A word-of-mouth hit, “Abbott” already exceeded expectations with seven nominations in total, including for series, actress (Quinta Brunson), writing and casting. While our odds correctly forecasted the inclusions of Brunson, James and Ralph, they had Williams sitting all the...

Sue Naegle and Ali Krug are in business with Universal Studio Group’s UCP.
The Emmy-winning pair has signed an overall deal with the Universal division through which their newly established Dinner Party Productions will develop and produce series.
This marks the first time former UTA, HBO Entertainment and Annapurna Pictures boss Naegle has worked directly with Universal. She exited her Chief Content Officer role at Annapurna in 2022. As we reported at the time, Krug had initially taken over her TV division responsibilities, but has since reunited with her former boss and long-time production partner to launch Dinner Party.
In development is a series adaptation of Elon Hilderbrand’s novel ‘The Five-Star Weekend’ for Universal’s sister streamer Peacock, with Bekah Brunstetter penning the script. The book follows a popular food blogger, who, after a tragedy, brings friends from distinct times in her life to spend a weekend in Nantucket.

Welcome to Emmy Experts Typing, a weekly column in which Gold Derby editors and Experts Joyce Eng and Christopher Rosen discuss the Emmy race — via Slack, of course. This week, we discuss the top-heavy Best Comedy Actress category.
Christopher Rosen: Hello, Joyce! We’re back to type about comedy — and not the comedy of seeing Tom Ripley try to dodge a runaway motorboat. I’m typing about real comedy… like “The Bear.” Well, Ok, maybe not just “The Bear” since that’s all but assured of winning multiple Emmy Awards in September in a rerun of the 2023 (’24) Emmys we just saw in January. But let’s start there because while we agree with the consensus that the series, Jeremy Allen White and Ebon Moss-Bachrach should all repeat as Emmy winners this year, we’re both against the current tide in the Best Comedy Actress race. Film icon Pam Grier has teamed with Village Roadshow Pictures to develop a project based on her bestselling 2010 memoir, “Foxy: My Life in Three Acts.”
Known as the queen of 1970s Blaxploitation classics like “Coffy” and “Foxy Brown,” plus Quentin Tarantino’s Oscar-nominated film “Jackie Brown,” Grier is enjoying her latest act thanks to movies like 2023’s “Cinnamon.” That film kicked off her relationship with Village Roadshow Pictures, which produced the title under the company’s Black Noir Cinema banner for Tubi.

Starring Chris Pratt and Rebecca Ferguson, sci-fi thriller Mercy is taking shape, with Kali Reis and Rafi Gavron among the actors joining its cast.
For the past few months, Wanted director Timur Bekmambetov has quietly assembled what could end up being one of the starriest sci-fi films of 2025. In January, Amazon MGM bought up the global theatrical rights for Mercy – which is unsurprising, given the package: it has Chris Pratt and Rebecca Ferguson attached as its stars, and Hollywood veteran Charles Roven as its producer.
In the weeks since, more and more names have been added, including Annabelle Wallis (who starred in the gleefully twisted Malignant) and Kali Reis, who made a strong impression in the hit series True Detective: Night County. Most recently, Deadline reports that four more actors have been added to the roster: Rafi Garon (A Star Is Born), Chris Sullivan (This Is Us), Kenneth Choi (9-...

Emily Cheever’s career was just getting started.
The 36-year-old began her TV writing career in 2020 as a writers’ production assistant and script coordinator for Legends of Tomorrow before getting hired as a staff writer for ABC’s The Company You Keep. After the drama that marked Milo Ventimiglia’s follow-up to This Is Us was canceled following a single season shortly after the Writers Guild of America strike began last May, Cheever had no job to return to when it ended in September. Like scores of other writers of all levels and backgrounds, she doesn’t know when or where her next paycheck will come from.
“People are scared. I’m trying to go back to bartending,” she says. “A lot of people are wondering what other jobs they can do. I’m close with my old showrunners, and they’re supportive of me, but they’re looking for jobs.
