The CW hit series Gossip Girl is heading to Netflix U.S. The series was created by Josh Schwartz and ran for six seasons and 121 episodes between 2007 and 2012.

Per Netflix, Gossip Girl will be available on the platform starting Oct. 29. It would include all six seasons. The original series followed the lives of upper-class students at a prestigious high school on the Upper East Side, whose lives were chronicled by an unidentified blogger who called themselves "Gossip Girl." The series was so popular that it received a standalone sequel, which ran for two seasons between 2021 and 2023 on HBO Max.

Tim Robinson and Zach Kanin have set up the comedy pilot “Computer School” at HBO Max, Variety has learned.

In the pilot, a recent high school grad and his uncle attend the same computer class in suburban Michigan. Robinson will star as the uncle. Robinson and Kanin are writing and executive producing the pilot. Andrew Gaynord will direct.

The pilot marks the latest collaboration for Kanin and Robinson. The duo most recently created the critically-acclaimed Netflix sketch comedy series “I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson.” The series has aired two seasons on Netflix to date, with the most recent six-episode season dropping on the streamer in July 2021.

Yassir Lester will be the head writer for Marvel Studios’ “Armor Wars,” an individual with knowledge of the series told TheWrap. The series is one of many Marvel is producing for Disney+.

The series stars Don Cheadle reprising his role as James Rhodes aka War Machine. Lester was a co-executive producer, writer and co-star on Showtime’s “Black Monday,” which also starred Cheadle. Lester has also written for series including “Girls” and “The Carmichael Show,” and appeared on the short-lived “Making History.” He also starred in Fox’s animated series “Duncanville.”

“Armor Wars” will center on “Tony Stark’s worst nightmare” when his technology falls into the wrong hands. Cheadle last appeared in a cameo role in Disney+’s “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.”

The “Armor Wars” series at Disney Plus has tapped Yassir Lester to serve as head writer, Variety has confirmed with sources.

Don Cheadle will star in the series, reprising the role of James “Rhodey” Rhodes, a.k.a. War Machine. The series is based on the Marvel Comics series of the same name. In the series, Rhodes must face what happens when Tony Stark’s tech falls into the wrong hands.

Reps for Marvel and Lester declined to comment.

The series keeps Cheadle and Lester in business with each other, as they both currently star in the Showtime series “Black Monday.” Lester is also a writer and co-executive producer on the series. Lester’s other series writing credits include “Kenan,” “Girls,” and “The Carmichael Show.” As an actor, he has recently had roles on shows like “Duncanville,” “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” and “Making History.”

He is repped by UTA and Lichter Grossman.

Compared to the last show he created, Fox’s short-lived “Making History,” Julius Sharpe’s new series “United We Fall” is surprisingly low concept.

A traditional, multicamera family sitcom, the series centers on a couple (played by Will Sasso and Christina Vidal Mitchell) and their struggle keep up with the day-to-day demands of raising two young daughters. And that’s about it as far as the premise goes. No time-traveling duffel bags or period costuming or recreations of major historical events. There are opinionated in-laws, sure, but the Founding Fathers do not make an appearance.

“You could say I was out of fanciful ideas, so I just tried to take a look at what might be interesting,” Sharpe said in an interview with TheWrap. “And the more I started talking to people about it, people seemed keyed into it in a way that they never seemed keyed into my other ideas.

ABC has set a July premiere date for the new comedy “United We Fall,” the broadcaster announced Thursday.

The family sitcom, which stars Will Sasso and Christina Vidal Mitchell, will debut on Wednesday, July 15 at 8 p.m.

ABC has picked up an additional drama and comedy series for the 2019-2020 season.

The network has ordered hourlong legal drama For Life (fka Hank Steinberg/Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson Project) and multi-camera family comedy United We Fall. Both hail from Sony Pictures TV, which will co-produce with ABC Studios.

United We Fall and For Life join comedy mixed-ish and drama Untitled Cobie Smulders (aka Stumptown), both from ABC Studios, to bring ABC’s new series for next season to four so far.

Along with Untitled Cobie Smulders, which was picked up to series on Wednesday, For Life had been a frontrunner among ABC’s drama pilots. It took three extra days for the Hank Steinberg/50 Cent pilot to secure a formal order because of the now almost obligatory pre-pickup push by the broadcast networks to extract better co-production terms from independent studios.

In “Joust!”, the 21st episode of ABC’s freshman sitcom “Single Parents,” Will (Taran Killam) is rushing out of his house when he pauses to crack a joke. “Don’t steal anything,” he tells Angie, played by Leighton Meester. They both laugh — it’s a joke! — but then Will stops again at the door and repeats his request, sans frivolity. “Don’t steal anything,” he says.

“I’m going to steal some shit,” Meester told IndieWire when remembering the scene during a recent interview. “For some reason, that’s become an inside joke — that Angie’s a freaking klepto.”

What matters, though, is that Meester manages to build off that joke in just two seconds of screen time. As Will leaves, Angie turns toward the camera with an annoyed look on her face — as if to say, “How dare he think I’d steal from a friend!” — only to pivot...

Phil Lord and Chris Miller have just joined a very exciting club. Monday, Sony Pictures Television announced the creators behind “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs” and “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” have signed a nine-figure overall deal with the studio.

Lord and Miller have worked with Sony for years, and the new deal will expand upon that relationship, allowing them to develop a slate of projects for a variety of platforms through Lord Miller Productions. One sandbox they’ll be able to play in is Marvel — specifically, the characters which are still under the Sony banner, including Spider-Man and his related foes.

There’s a lone weirdo in trouble, a group of friends who are hesitant to help, and, somewhat inexplicably, the group rallies around the outsider just as their personal crisis peaks.

In “New Girl,” said weirdo is Jessica Day (Zooey Deschanel), a grade school teacher spinning out after a bad breakup with her boyfriend. Looking for a new home, she sits down for an interview with three dudes who need a roommate. Phil Lord and Chris Miller (The Lego Movie, 21 Jump Street) are set to help develop a new comedy series at NBC as executive producers. The series is a workplace comedy called Business as Usual and it’s described as a comedy about “everyday employees at a company in crisis, trying to keep their jobs and maintain their relationships as their workplace goes insane.”

According to Variety, the project generated significant interest from several networks and many of them offering to buy it in the room before it ultimately ended up landing at NBC.

NBC has put into development a workplace comedy from “The Last Man on Earth” duo Phil Lord and Chris Miller, TheWrap has learned.

Written and executive produced by “Vice Principals” and “Family Guy” alum Hayes Davenport, “Business as Usual” follows everyday employees at a company in crisis, trying to keep their jobs and maintain their relationships as their workplace goes insane.

Hailing from 20th Century Fox Television, the project has been given a script commitment with penalty from the network. Lord and Miller will executive produce.

Lord and Miller’s most recent TV efforts include the recently canceled “The Last Man on Earth” and the short-lived Fox comedies “Son of Zorn” and “Making History.” They’re also credited as executive producers on “Unkitty!,” the “Lego Movie” spinoff series on Cartoon Network.
