Sex & Nudity

  • Teenagers are given birth control by their parents and told to use them
  • Men wear very skimpy, revealing swim trunks at the beach. A reclining woman asks one to pick up a dropped object while she admires his rear end. She and her girlfriends then laugh as if this offered an exciting view. There is a brief shot of a topless woman on the beach as men stare on. Nothing is shown as it is filmed from behind her shoulder.
  • All nudity or sex is played for its comic effect.
  • Teen girl and boy stand facing each other. Girl takes boy's hand and slides it into her shorts. Another teen boy stands watching.
  • A teenage girl and boy are sleeping in the same bedroom. She asks him to "sleep with me" because she's scared. He joins her on the bed and she then asks him to hold her platonically.
  • Wife tells husband he spends more time mowing their front lawn then moving her lawn.
  • Two teens are caught kissing by their fathers, who order them "to the bedroom," one father correcting this command by saying "well, separately." And they are then led off by their respective fathers home.
  • Father walks into a bedroom to find his daughter kneeling in front of a seated teenage boy, evidently giving him oral sex. No nudity is seen. Boy offers his hand as a way to introduce himself. Father turns and leaves. Later same girl is shown performing oral sex on another boy. She then opens bedroom door and announces to boys lined up "next!" This boy lineup outside the bedroom occurs again. The arriving father then chases all the waiting boys out of his house.
  • One of the families has a python named "Trouser." As a boy runs by chasing a woman with the python, husband asks wife "does that boy have a big snake?" Wife says "ask me when he's 17."
  • Father tells kids he's enrolling them all in Catholic boarding school. They protest strenuously. He then adds: "the priest's will have their way with you!"
  • A young girl in a swimsuit, who is constantly getting blue bottle stings and urine "remedies" at the beach, protests that the marks on her face and chest are definitely "not" blue bottle stings. A neighboring woman, who is concurrently arguing with the girl's mother, contradicts her, lays her on the lawn, straddles her, and pulls down her own underwear in order to "cure" the stings by urinating on the child. No nudity is seen.
  • During a front porch neighbor-wide argument, blow-job teen girl says she has homework to do and neighbor's husband offers to give her a hand. He is stopped verbally by girl's father.
  • Man tells male neighbor he could have prevented their neighborhood argument by "taking one for the team" instead of bailing out of the recent wife swapping.
  • Wife argues with her husband about teen boy and girl: "it's only sex" and husband replies: "Finally! A use for birth control!

Violence & Gore

  • Main storyline follows the "Death Cheaters", a group of children who make home movies containing frequent and campy violence and gore. Simulated sequences of stabbings, beheadings, car accidents and more are reproduced with the likes of fake blood and watermelons.

Profanity

  • Much swearing throughout the film from children and adults alike.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Parents and children drink and smoke, Adults drive while drinking, Both adults and children drink to excess

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The "Death Cheaters", a group of children who make homemade horror movies, are frequently shown spraying fake blood and simulating violence on each other. While obviously fake, these scenes do mimic real frightening and intense scenarios like murder, mutilation, and car crashes.

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Sex & Nudity

  • A man has sex with a woman from behind, while a dog barks in the background and children are watching.

Violence & Gore

  • A 200-ton blue whale is washed up on the beach, and continuously decays throughout the events of the film. In the final act, the carcass is exploded, raining rotting flesh on spectators. Several sequences of chunks of meat on people, blood raining from above, and houses being destroyed by the flesh and body parts of the whale.
  • A character proclaims one severely overweight family pet is going to "explode" one day, foreshadowing the dog's later death in a fireworks-related accident. The death is off screen, shown only with an unrealistic and fantastical effect in the reflection of a camera lens.
