Jil Jung Juk (A) TAMIL ----- my Rating: ★★★★ PAKKA COMMERCIAL STRENGTHS: * Strong adult dialogues.... * Casting, Performances and Direction keeps you engaging... * Outstanding screenplay which entertains from start till end. * Sound mixing and BGM perfect as the movie progress.... WEAKNESSES: * Simple storyline.... * In second half, it seems to be little lengthy.... FINAL VERDICT: * Overall, it is a perfect adult entertainer with some masala dialogues which makes some laughs loudly. First half keeps you engaging by introducing characters and explaining the plot what it is going to happen. Later as the movie progress, the major twist comes in the interval block. You will jump out of the seat and clap your hands for an awesome intermission. Second half starts up with few new more characters to balance the movie go on but lacks a bit. then again bring some twisty and quirky things keeps you engaging again. Happy ending with a SHOOT THE KURUVI song. Worth watching Three guys get into trouble, while smuggling cocaine. Jil Jung Jukis an 'Hopefull' film!!

*Thoughts (No review) from Quentin Tarantino fan who loves this genre films* Jil Jung Jukis an 'Hopefull' film and here is why: Firstly I saw the trimmed version of the film and I loved it. With adult rated talks to long jibber-jabberr's (Yes, At the start you wonder why but at the course of the film you will get to know why those long conversations were inserted into the film), quickie humour to unexpected twists the film is fully inspired from Quentin Tarantino films and other internet sensation jokes inspired from Guy Riitchie films.

As a Quentin Tarantino fan I would rather give a pat at Dheeraj Vaidy's back and say 'well tried and done'. This film and this genre will become a cult in years to come.

Vishal Chandrasekhar's BGM is one of the highlights of the film and I felt that the starting title card number 'casanova' sung by Andrea is under-rated.

Actor Siddharth as a producer has done a great job and I hope he continues his good work by supporting young talented directors.

OFF TOPIC: Currently with this new gen directors it looks like an star actor reference (Mostly VIjay, Ajith) has become a must. Seriously? Having an unwanted 1 minutes actor reference will never bring those actors fans to theater but a good film surely does. Hopefully this shitty trend comes to an end.

Ridiculously Hillarious

This isn't everyone's cup of tea. JJJ is really witty and has excellent cinematography and soundtracks. The climax could've been better. That clock thing in the climax was bad. Until then the movie kept me entertained. It's an ambitious movie. Just the writing wasn't good enough. It lacked consistency. Director Deeraj Vaidy is a promising talent. Too bad he didn't get much projects after this. I hope to get to see more movies like this but with better writing and zero cliches.

The story revolves around a well designed pink car(sarcasm intended). The script is good, humor is the lifeline of such a movie.

An average dark humour

I think this was the firat dark humour movie in kollywood before nelaon era , i hope so. A good dark humour movie , very old story and screenplay but the making and the scenic is different and its way more artistic than other films, but a usual story and screenplay, could have improved and had a strong story and screenplay with good humour. The humour also didnt work out great, just a normal and there was small humour here and there. Nothing much to say abt the film simple and waste. I was keen to watch this film for over a period but its not worth it. Sidharyh and co performed really well but no support from the backend. I loved the pai character which was hilarious the modulation of speech. Nothing to say much more overall an Ok film , available in youtube.

Jil Jung Juk - Where Art and Talent meet.

First of all I was amazed to realize that the theatre was almost 90% empty for this movie. THat time i also remember that the audince will only enjoy the usual - drama-revenge flicks. This movie is a milestone in Tamil movie industry- with a sin city / double barrel like cinematography. Shreyaas Krishna did his totally best pack to shots for getting a retro look. acting by Siddhard, Avinash, Sananth, Radharavi, Amerendran etc is too good. Deeraj Vaidy never failed to make an impression out of it. The story is simple - a cocaine - heist - chase story. but the making and the color tones which they used is ivy new in the industry. Too bad that the poor critics haven't even understood the concept of it or the beauty in the making. I am damn sure that this movie will come up as a classic after 10 years just like anbe sivam and people will say that this is a must watch where they haven't watched it on theatre.

Wonderful Black Comedy with a stretched Climax...

Went to this movie with great expectations...which were not let down by the movie...kudos to the director ,this being his debut film, for making a niche movie...

It starts off slowly ,giving a short and crisp intro for each character involved in the proceedings, and then picks up express pace and finally leaves us laughing our hearts out in the interval block...Been a while in Tamil Cinema where we are faced with a delicious interval block wanting more...

The Scenes involving the Uganda scenario are hilarious...as are the scenes involving the Silo...Dialogues deserve a special mention here..witty and funny to the core..they keep the audience engaged and looking for hidden meanings here and there..

The film has its share of lows nevertheless...The initial scenes involving poker seems forced (influence of several Guy Ritchie films popped up) and removed from the main plot. Climax seemed to make the usual formulaic compromise of shootings, blow-ups etc..

Overall, a fun filled hilarious ride that we can go along without any fear...After Naanum Rowdy Thaan another superb Black Comedy film that has entertained me..expecting more such films from the team..

The film is very bad. No story line at all. No new in this movie. Only the BGM and music was good in this movie. The film is not at all good.

Worths a watch for many reasons

As one of Siddharth's fans, I was waiting for this film for a long time(Near 7 months).Fortunately, this film didn't let me down. Positive Points:

1.Music: this is definitely one of the most highlight points.Music is fresh just like the film is. Vishal Chandrashekar has a bright future.

2.Acting: Seeing Radha Ravi in a different role and seeing Sannath and Avinash together again (after demonte colony) was nice.All actors did a good job with their unusual roles.

3.Colors:I love colors!That blue hair and pink car...I wish I could watch it on big screen.

4.Cinematography: Among all technical works, maybe this is the best. The shooting scenes and slow motions were done perfectly.

5.New Attempt for not just Tamil cinema: I know there were some movies with this genre before like jigarthanda and soodhu kavvum, but we have to admit there was nothing like this in kollywood!

6.The Story: The story is simple but interesting

7.Comedy: There are some adult jokes but I don't complain!Interval is one of the best intervals I've ever seen in kollywood

Negative Points:

1. The Screenplay: Though the story is fine, but the director couldn't write it on paper properly.

2.The climax: It was not good! A big let down for the film

3. It's definitely entertaining but it's also irritating a few times

Overall: This is more than just a film. It's the gate of a new world for Tamil cinema. Unfortunately I think critics didn't appreciate this film enough. It'll be a cult film one day. You know it's just like Boys! (2003 Tamil film) Mixed reviews from critics,average box office and now it's known as a cult film

New benchmark set in Tamil movies

JIl Jung Juk is one of a kind movie. Siddharth has done a fabulous job both as an actor and producer of the film. All the other supporting actors also played their part well. I really liked characterization of Jill Jung juk and voice of PIA.

Even though story is simple,narration made the movie quirky .The interval comes with a bang and then people start laughing. Post interval the story narration is fast paced and reveals the hero smartness and spontaneity. There comes the Butterfly effect.Director nailed it very nicely.Kudos to the debut director and the music director has really scored well for this movie. Music also enabled the movie to be more Quirky.

Finally its a must watch movie in Tamil.

One Bloody Brilliant comedy crime Tamil movie.

No i am not going to reveal anything that has to do with the story or a big review to explain how brilliant and honest this movie is. I don't find any flaw in the characterization, everyone has done exactly what was expected. Even a character who comes for a frame has done justice to the director. I had stopped watching stereotype movies long back and avoided big screens, out of blue thought of watching this movie and was very much got involved into it because this movie is a breath of fresh air to Tamil movies. The biggest problem with south Indian movies especially Tamil is that everyone want's to become superstar or darling of masses believing in doing commercial movies all the time. This movie has shattered most of the Tamil movie sentiments and a big kudos to the team. I don't know how well this movie has been received by the audience, but i would recommend to give it a try and it is a must. From the start till the end this movie has everything new, especially the presentation.

I've watched this movie multiple times. I've never got bored of it. The dark comedy worked really well throughout the whole movie. Siddhart's and the other 2 guys nailed their characters well. Music was really good. Don't miss it.

A refreshing watch and a brilliantly crafted humorous film

A very bold attempt by the director to break out of the stereotypes and to cater something fresh and futuristic to the audience has to be appreciated. JJJ is definitely a cult classic. We have a history of not appreciating films like Anbe Sivam, Aayirathil Oruvan and JJJ which could have introduced a new line of directors in Tamil cinema if these films were appreciated by the audience. But with digitilization and the widespread of OTT, directors could directly approach the OTT to make these films instead of planning to release them on theatres.

After many years i had too much fun watching this film and this has a repeat value as well.

Ahead of its time

A cleverly witty and engaging movie that got to a certain boring audience. I watch this movie now in 2024 and I couldn't believe people of 2016 thought this movie was average. Very engaging plot and timely delivery of comedy and dialogue. Definitely good movie, bad audience. The screenplay is absolutely genuis and the deployment of the character and sub-plots in a comical manner is such a massive aspect that makes this movie stand out from the rest. After watching the movie, one should definitely look for the hidden meanings and the symbolism from YouTube because that just makes your mind go 'poof'. Definitely a great watch.
