An okayish formula flick that's somewhat easy on the eyes!!

So I had been dying to watch this as it stars Jung-min Hwang and I am a fan I must admit. But due to the lack of good subtitles I was not able to do so. Finally, yesterday I got my hands on some decent English subs and dove right in to watch this. I wouldn't say that I was disappointed but it certainly wasn't up to my expectations.

The story is pretty simple with Byun Jae-wook, a honest prosecutor, being framed for murder by negligence and thrown into the jail with a 15 year sentence. The film then depicts his struggles to fight the corrupt system and get out.

Looking at the plot I thought there would be an intense drama showing his hardship in the jail, but sadly they avoided that part and the story leaps 5 years ahead as soon as he is imprisoned and shows him as the "prince of prison". I was hoping to see some solid prison drama here.

The latter part deals with Byun Jae-wook reopening the case and fighting his case in a courtroom. I expected some decent courtroom drama but this too ends abruptly leaving to much to imagination.

What lifts up the movie from a dismal plot is the acting by the cast, especially Dong-won Kang. He plays his role as a con man to near perfection and does a commendable job. Jung-min Hwang too is slick and handles whatever is thrown at his like a real pro. There chemistry in the jail is rather good. They bond on screen with real ease and make you chuckle every now and then.

All being said you can give the movie a go, just don't expect anything too gritty or earth shattering.

Fairly standard but it's watchable if you have the patience.

Warning: Spoilers
I think movies that make a hit in Korea deals with humanity and Korean psych while dealing with Korean culture. To show that there is some glimpse of hope that the bad guys even corrupt people with power can be taken down. While showing empathy towards other working class citizens that are working hard to survive in the competitive market and provide for their families. And for the most part this movie delves into those elements. I personally didn't think it was a great film, but with a bit of patience it's actually quite watchable. So the plot is about a violent prosecutor that hate criminals and use aggressive tactics to get information out of suspects without knowing the circumstances all that clearly. However when he gets framed and thrown into prison with inmates that he put into prison. He starts to learn survival tactics, using resources and empathy. And also gets in contact with a womanizing conman that is very crafty when it comes to manipulation. This movie had it's moments, but it's a very traditional and standard Korean film that is easily forgettable. There just wasn't enough in here for it to make it stand out from the rest. Everything in here is quite predictable and straight by the numbers. Overall, it does have few moments but I wouldn't say it's a movie that has to be seen.

Has it's own unique story line

It has a common plot about being framed but I can say that it has it's own unique story line that will keep you from watching it until the end.

Would really recommend it if your not in a mood to watch a drama movie. Because at first, I thought it has a drama into it but the "supposed" drama part became funny for me. And I love the chemistry of the two main leads.

A crime drama film wrapped in a very good comedy spice. I hope this film gets a sequel. Because it's interesting to see the unique collaboration between a prosecutor and a con artist..

Awful movie

O no! Abolutely artificial acting, no plot and way too long: need I say more? Please add a no star option cause if I give this film one star this will be an insult for the films which deserve one star. This is one of the worst korean movies I ever watched in my life. Don't waste your time.
