Fun, quirky, entertaining

I had the pleasure of seeing 'Broiled' at the recently concluded 'Blue Whiskey Film Festival' (2016). I thoroughly enjoyed the film. The quick dialogue of writer/director Megan St. John brought to mind a young Tarantino. Lead actress Elizabeth Stenholt had the strongest performance, as the young, blossoming BJ. Stenholt had a engaging interaction with both St. John, who also plays her best friend, as well as the two male 'suitors' that she meets.

St. John calls on her rural upbringing to create a wealth of unusual small town characters, and her character treats them all with various degrees of disdain.

In all, a very enjoyable 38 minutes, with laughter, an interesting take on small town life, and a few suggestions on how to escape it.
