What a waste of Africa!

For reasons I don't understand, this movie is was shot in South Africa using South African actors, but all of them worked hard to sound as if they were American. The accent doesn't sound American as much as it just sounds weird.

Although it is shot in Africa, the movie makes no attempts to show the beauty of the continent. Nor does it show any of the magnificent animals that the characters fear. Virtually every scene in the movie is so dull that it could have been shot on a soundstage,

The script is awful and the acting is worse.

No. No. No.

I like a good cheap horror film, bit not this one...

Don't get me started on the dialogue. Why reply with a simple Yes or No, when you can reply with a whole backstory.

The acting was okay, but, as previous reviewers have mentioned, it's hard to be arsed about some of the characters.

I tried to watch it all, hoping it would get better, but I was robbed haha.

If there was nowt else to watch, then give it a bash.

Or worm nextdoors dog?

Mindless 'horror' with some comically bad acting and some not so bad but with some decent gore. I've seen much worse in this genre. Not sure what those who rated it so low were expecting. I will say it was strangely fragmented as if it was made for commercial television, so not sure where this was initially intended to air, but it plays like an R-rated film.

It was a trip of hell getting through the movie

I'm not sure how this movie averages 6.6/10? I wasn't expecting much after reading some of the reviews but after the first 20 minutes the movie takes a complete nose dive and never recovers. The acting is very amateurish and the story line isn't very good. I wouldn't waste your time on this one. It is beyond cheesy in every way possible. The premise of the movie isn't bad it's everything else!!

Something's stalking the group of 20-something airheads traveling in Africa. Really poor script (best line: "I have to disinfect your wound before it gets infected!"), laughable character exposition and overwrought music cues substituting for any real suspense highlight this stinker. Tip: If you do decide to watch, drink a shot every time one of the cast says the word "Guys." You'll likely pass out before the first scene after the opening credits is complete, but you'll have had a better time. (If you don't pass out by then, please stop drinking, 'cause if you continue through the rest of the flick, you'll die of alcohol poisoning.)

Horrible acting

This movie was just horrible, by the time anything came to play the movie was more than half over. The acting was way below B rate, I could go on and on about how bad it all was but then I would be just drag'n it out, like the movie.

Oscar worthy! Can I rate 11 stars?

One of the best movies ever made about Africa. Move over African Queen, this movie is so much better than that old classic.

This is about a group of happy-go-lucky Americans who go on vacation together in Africa seeking good times in a beautiful setting. They experience all kinds of pleasant surprises and some even fall in love. Needless to say there is a lot of romance happening under the moonlight. To top it off their 5-star vacation serves up gourmet food every night. Food and romance, this crew is living it up and making the most out a well deserved adventure.

You should expect to be entertained and amazed by this group's romantic excursion through the exotic African wilderness!

So generic it will lull you to sleep...

Wow. Just wow!

This movie was generic, so horribly and utterly generic. I mean, I couldn't even start to flesh out how generic this movie from writers George Garcia and Patrick Garcia turned out to be. No, you'd have to sit down and suffer through it, like I did, in order to fully grasp and comprehend just how insanely bland and mundane "Hell Trip" actually is. So on that account the movie's title actually does a good job at describing what you're in for here.

The storyline told in "Hell Trip" just takes all the stereotypical clichés that you've seen in horror and thriller movies since moving pictures was a thing on the screen. I mean, the writers here weren't even trying to be original at any point throughout the course of the 1 hour and 26 minutes that "Hell Trip" ran for.

The acting in "Hell Trip" were bland. But then again, of course it would be, given the fact that the actors and actresses virtually had nothing worthwhile to work with in terms of script, dialogue or character gallery.

"Hell Trip" has a couple of kill scenes, which sort of makes it almost worth suffering through the rest of the movie. Just almost, mind you.

I am rating "Hell Trip" a generous two out of ten stars. This was a massive swing and a miss from director Patrick Garcia. This is certainly not a movie that I would recommend you waste your time, money or effort on. Some of us suffered through this, so you don't have to.

'Sisters' with different accents lol

The negative reviews are spot-on: This is a boring movie with bad acting, a dumb plot, and a stupid script. I stopped watching after the first laughable death and didn't bother FFing to the end because I didn't care what happened to these characters.

My favorite part were the 2 sisters who bizarrely had different accents. Serious LMAO moments listening to these 2 talk.

Don't waste your time with this donkey.

Interesting location, quite well-balanced thriller

This was actually quite good, although a bit slow in places. Location of the action was novel and interesting, and plot relatively exciting. Violence wasn't too gory for the most part, lots of slayings remained off-screen, still plenty of tension and scares. Quite well-balanced movie. For those who enjoy thrillers that take place in the wilderness.

Horrible script, no way it was filmed in S. Africa, all you saw were Southern Pines every scene. Typical college age goofy, silly predictable outcome. We played games on who would die in what order. Funny to watch and make fun of.....

Dismal misuse of my time

My main complaint is that the movie is, excitingly, set in Africa. And then the ONLY African stuff we see is a "native" and the sound of what might be a hyena.

Total waste of a potentially awesome setting. Ugh.

Plus it's dull and pedestrian.

Who goes to Africa

And then gets disgusted by the natives in the "jungle" hunting? I mean, what do you think these primal tribes do for food? That was just the beginning of my awful experience with this film.

You're gonna make a movie about Americans going to Africa, yet no one is American. The dialogue was so bad I thought it was dubbed. That's when I looked it up and saw that 90% of the cast was from south Africa. That explained the terrible delivery of lines and facial expressions, but not the words used. I can't believe that this director thought people actually speak like this. No one could act to save their lives. The tour guide especially. Supposedly he's won awards for reality shows and directing commercials. He should stick to that because his acting was top 3 worst in this film.

The plot didn't even need to be there. Why were they going to Africa? Which btw looked more like the Amazon. Why did they bring up the one sister having beef with the other, only for her to die 10 min later? This was basically a manhunt movie and all the story they didn't try hard to set up was irrelevant. And the killer's reasoning was awful.

Speaking of, how the hell did this super marine get overpowered by two civilians, one of which was a tiny woman, and the other a nerd? And the other killer died to his own trap. This director should be banned from directing movies ever again.

Waste of time

When the poster is the most appealing aspect of a film, then you're in for a long trip of boredom and abysmal acting. Began fast forward through the awful dialogue about half way through, hoping to find something worth watching...I didn't. 2/10.

Better than many out there

This wasn't the greatest horror of all time but wasn't too bad. I enjoyed the journey of the group. A couple Of the actors were pretty good. My favorite was the tour guide and the driver into the jungle. The first 2/3 were the best but the end was pretty much what I was expecting.

The acting is ridiculous. The storyline is even more ridiculous. I thought it was gonna be a ring of body part harvesters for rituals. Which is a real problem in Africa. That could've been ok. But no, just senseless killing that makes no sense.

Standard Generic Slasher

Nothing to see here... move along. Just the standard slasher with a masked killer killing people one by one with bloody gore. No redeeming cinematic value, nothing new. Uninspired direction in Africa. Watch it if you're totally bored. Or if you can't sleep at night. Horror snoozer. Nuff said.

Weird and actors will annoy u

This is awful! The cast is horrible. Their accents are all over the place. It's like they were trying to force them to speak in an American accent but it was so weird. Why did they have to be from America? The dialogue is weird. They are not talking naturally. Their conversations literally sound scripted. It's no chemistry with any of them.

The character Logan is complete freakin Neanderthal and I don't even understand why? He wasn't funny and his accent changed throughout the movie. Again, I don't get it And in the end, It was so weird that when they found out there were multiple killers because they were just running off alone alone and speaking calmly. Lol I was almost rooting for the killers because they were so stupid.

5.5 for this mess?

Canned Film Festival candidate

My 12 year old could have written a better plot. There is a flash scene near the beginning that leads you to believe there is something mystical about it. Surprise! It isn't. Everything else is down hill from there. I would also suggest casting from middle school thespians for better acting. Please note, I am not saying this movie is terrible. I couldn't leave you thinking it deserves that high of a rating.

Hell trip is definitely a sight for sore eyes. Some of the worse acting I've seen in my life and I've seen a lot. I will however give kudos to the actors for trying. It can only go up from here.

Comically bad acting; excruciatingly bad script

Don't waste your time.

The script is horrible.

The dialog is unbelievable.

I'm sorry for the actors in this film but even more so for the folks that sat through the whole thing.

And, of course, it HAS to be filmed in near complete darkness 90% of the time.
