I Gave You Life! I Gave You Life!
kapelusznik1830 June 2016
Warning: Spoilers
***SPOILERS***What seems to be a re-make of the Peter Lorre 1935 classic "Mad Love" Eric Roberts is at his creepiest best as the control freak doctor Beck who despite his skills as one of the country's top cardiologist is a total dud-Like Peter Lorre was-in making it or getting it on with the opposite sex that drives him to the point of insanity. We see right away what a Doctor Jekyll and Mister Hyde character Beck is when one of the dates his has, trough an on-line dating service, walks out on him after jumping the gun in asking her her to marry him bear his children and quit her job just to be with him before she barley even gets to known him! Freaking out and going crazy Beck makes a complete spectacle of himself in a crowded restaurant, trashing the place, without anyone bothering to call the police before he ends up hurting or even killing someone! Especially his terrified date who checks out of the place running for her very life with him chasing her.

Back at work in the hospital Dr. Beck, doing a good deed for once, saves the life of a car accident victim 18 year old Sophie Green, Brianna Joy Comer, with his skills as a master cardiologist and sees his big chance to get her to fall in love with him, whom he's old enough to be her grand father, when she fully recovers. At first grateful for saving her life Sophie as well as her mom Adrienne Green, Deborah Zoe, soon realize that the sweet and friendly Dr. Beck has a bark side that they at first overlooked. Not only stalking Sophie wherever she goes and making a total a** of himself in doing it the completely whacked out Beck goes so far as breaking into her home and getting turned on by sleeping in her bed as well as sniffing her clothes like a bloodhound to pick up her scent or body odor!

****SPOILERS**** Despite doing a fabulous job at the hospital saving patients when he's off duty Dr. Beck stalks Sophie trying to get her to move to Mexico with him and be his bride that she's more then unwilling to do! Beck's obsession goes so far that her almost kills pain in the butt Sophie's mom by spiking her medication with penicillin, which she's allergic to, and re fracturing her boyfriend Ryan's,Carson Boatman, leg who was driving, while at the same time as well as texting, the car that she was almost got killed in that got hit by a truck! Off the wall ending with Beck kidnapping Sophie who escapes from his clutches only to show up at her funeral after Beck faked her death in a car crash that he used one of the stiffs, who was burned to a crisp, at the hospital morgue to impersonate her body. With her crippled and grieving boyfriend Rayn when seeing her gets miraculously cured and was able by throwing away his clutches run a 10 second 100 yard dash to embrace her! As for Dr. Beck after having his head battered with a golf club by Sophie does make it to Mexico to start a new life as well as romance with a sexy young Latin women there that is totally unaware of his very unusual ways of romancing and love making.

Roberts' performance redeems clichéd film
mgconlan-14 January 2016
I watched a recent "world premiere" on Lifetime, "Stalked by My Doctor," which begins with an opening scene in which Dr. Albert Beck (Eric Roberts, Jr.), a basically attractive man physically but one on whom the years have not been too kind — his face has acquired a cragginess much like Ted Cassidy's makeup as Lurch the butler on the 1960's TV show "The Addams Family" — is receiving a dear-John call from his latest girlfriend, who says she no longer wants to see him because he's too maniacally controlling. He responds by getting into his car and pushing the speedometer to 115 miles per hour, until we cut to another set of characters: high-school seniors Sophie Green (Brianna Joy Chomer) and her boyfriend Ryan (Carson Boatman, who looks dorky in his introduction scene but gets better-looking as the film progresses and his character matures), both of whom — along with their friends Caitlin (Wyntergrace Williams) and her boyfriend Eddie (Devon Libran) — are obsessing about what college they'll get into. Though this movie is set in southern California (just where in Southern California is maddeningly unclear in writer-director Doug Campbell's script), for some reason Sophie has applied to, and is accepted by, Whittendale University, a key part of the fictional universe in which the films Ken Sanders' Shadowland and the Johnson Production Group make for Lifetime (yes, this takes place in the same world as "The Surrogate," "Dirty Teacher" and "Sugar Daddies"). Ryan is driving himself and Sophie when his phone rings to indicate he's got a text, and of course being an adolescent idiot he tries to receive and reply to the text without stopping the damned car — it's about how he's just been offered a soccer scholarship to USC — only the car crashes and both Ryan and Sophie suffer severe injuries. (It's unclear from Campbell's direction and Clayton Woodhull's editing whether the car they crashed into — or which crashed into them, that isn't clear either — is Dr. Beck's, though if we were meant to believe that this would be an even kinkier movie than it is.) The two young lovebirds are taken to the emergency room of the nearest hospital, where cardiac super-surgeon Dr. Beck is on duty and immediately takes charge of Sophie's case. Once he sees Sophie in the hospital room he's immediately smitten with her to the point of obsession — he even kisses her while she's under anesthesia the way McTeague did to Trina in Stroheim's "Greed" — and Sophie, who wasn't totally "under" at the time, has a dim memory of it that's the first intimation she and her parents Jim (Jon Briddell) and Barbara (a quite good avenging-angel performance by Crystal Allen) have that all's not quite "right" between the doctor and their daughter. Much of this movie really did remind me of the old joke, "What do you call a man who thinks he's God? A schizophrenic. What do you call a man who knows he's God? A doctor."

"Stalked by My Doctor" — the sort of clinically accurate but, well, clinical title Lifetime seems to like to pick for its movies — just gets weirder and weirder, and the moment it slides over from overwrought thriller to total high camp is when Dr. Beck breaks into the Greens' home when he thinks no one is there so he can sneak into Sophie's bedroom, rearrange her pillows and get into her bed and presumably jack off. Only before he can do that Sophie comes home with her boyfriend Ryan, whom she briefly broke up with because she (not entirely unjustly) blamed him for her accident but with whom she's ready to kiss (and do a lot more than that!) and make up. So Ryan and Sophie have sex while the hugely important and successful cardiac surgeon watches them from his vantage point in a hall closet, then sneaks out as best as he can after Ryan leaves. As silly as this one is — other Lifetime movies have stretched the suspension of disbelief to a taffy pull; this one shatters it and makes it seem like Doug Campbell, to paraphrase the famous quote from Lewis Carroll, believes he has to write at least six impossible things before breakfast — it's got one saving grace: the full-blooded characterization written by Campbell, and vividly played by Eric Roberts, as the psycho doctor. While through much of the movie one wonders why no one at the hospital notices how crazy he is — are we supposed to believe he's so good at compartmentalization he can be a busy and professionally responsible doctor when he's working (though there's one aspect in which he's not professionally responsible: at no time during the movie, even when he's preparing for surgery or rubbing ointment into Sophie's wound, is he shown wearing medical gloves) and a bonkers S.O.B. when he isn't? — Campbell's script and direction gives Roberts the space he needs to create a relentless and truly frightening villain character whose unforgettable man-you-love-to-hate appeal projects not only the psychopathology of his personality but the arrogance that's been overlaid on it by what profession he's chosen and how good he is at it, to the point where by the end of the movie he's literally telling Sophie that, having saved her life, he now has it in his potential to take it. By all normal standards, "Stalked by My Doctor" is a perfectly terrible movie even for Lifetime, but Roberts' acting gives it a sort of irresistibility and camp appeal.

Bad Bedside Manners
wes-connors9 January 2016
Older but attractive cardiologist Eric Roberts (as Albert Beck) is stood up while waiting on a date with a much younger woman. Leaving the restaurant, Mr. Roberts becomes unhinged and drives his car over 100 mph, apparently headed for a crash… The story abruptly switched to a soccer game. Pretty high school senior Brianna Chomer (as Sophie Green) watches her athletically cute boyfriend Carson Boatman (as Ryan) on the field. Later, they celebrate her college acceptance. Due to Mr. Boatman's texting while driving, they get into a car crash. He has a leg injury, but will live. Worse off, Ms. Green has a broken rib which could rupture her heart. She will die without a quick, successful operation. The title "Stalked by My Doctor" indicates what is in store for Green, should her operation prove successful...

It's difficult to believe Roberts' character is one of the top cardiologists in the world, yet demonstrates behavior that would insult middle-schoolers by suggesting a comparison. You just have to accept his cognitive development is arrested in selected areas. He does have a bed with restraints, which comes in handy when his potential sex partners get the creeps. As usual, Roberts is fun to watch, even if the material is underwhelming. He obviously enjoys acting. Writer-director Doug Campbell wisely keep the cast out of the way and lets Roberts ride the wave. He throws priceless tantrums, ending an early one by telling his date, "I'm unfriending you!" When he learns Roberts may be interested in abducting his teenage daughter, unconcerned father Jon Briddell says, "Guys will be guys." L.O.L...

***** Stalked by My Doctor (2015/12/26) Doug Campbell ~ Eric Roberts, Brianna Joy Chomer, Carson Boatman, Deborah Zoe

One person called this a "CINEMATIC MASTERPIECE" 10/10. I wonder if this person had anything to gain by this review/rating? If you watch this film (I did)... let me know if you agree. LOL

Sorry but this was freaking hilarious

When he destroyed the baby doll I lost it completely 😂🤣

This movie was so weird though. I normally write thorough, thoughtful, insightful reviews. Not this time. This was simply a hilarious attempt of a thriller. Kapeluznik18 had the best summary for the movie.

Don't bother.. waste of time!
georgia_thomp17 April 2017
I really enjoy films that have a twisted story or a dark side half way through. When i read the title i thought that this film could be a decent watch... BOY was I wrong!! The acting is very poor, especially from the main character himself. Some of the story line doesn't make sense - a cardiologist doesn't perform heart surgery. There were moments where I thought it would get better, or the acting would've improved slightly, but no. It genuinely isn't worth watching, unless you enjoy watching movies that are bizarre and easy to mock. I'm glad i never saw this in the cinema because otherwise I'd ask for a refund

Warning: Spoilers
Very entertaining and fun. There is always something happening. There weren't any boring parts that drag on at all. Although there were quite a number of dumb things that happen sprinkled throughout, but always engaging. Eric Roberts does a good job of playing the psychotic doctor. All the characters were fine, except that the father was annoying. Dumb! Dumb! Dumb!...in regards to how well he withstood her clobbering with the golf club, just like Daffy Duck. Better than the average Lifetime movie. The two sequels were pretty descent too.

Very disturbing story, if you laughed you need a shrink
OneAnjel27 June 2022
This was not a Hollywood A-list cast, so all the low reviews because of the mediocre acting are just immature. But the story is beyond disturbing. Mainly because it could really happen. I think it takes a LOT of guts to perform in this type of film. It's a potentially real scenario with the mother being intuitive and the father wanting to push that aside just to have the status of such a great doctor. The boyfriend coming through and having that knowing. The only part I felt was not realistic was a renown surgeon slamming his hands and fits on stuff in a fit of rage. This type of guy on dating profiles is super realistic, they have so many bad traits that they go straight to putting up pics of themselves on yachts and holding a wineglass in the middle of their empty (no friends) lavish living room complete with the paragraph about just wanting to spoil that special someone. I find it disturbing, as well, that so many people think this was funny or even found the mediocre acting something to laugh at and, perhaps most disturbing, that they don't know any better than to expose their psychological shortcomings by admitting it in their review. This is a parent's worse nightmare and something every young woman should fear. Don't ever have a male practitioner in the room without a female nurse -- that's the law.

Well done and entertaining
jessiehenderson-412947 February 2023
It's a cool concept about a successful doctor who obsesses about his teenage patient. Eric Roberts is right for the role and does a pretty good job as the crazy obsessive psycho Dr. I'm glad to see him getting more roles as hes a decent actor. The teenage daughter (Brianna Joy) acts well too and is believable. If you think about it, it's not too far from really happening in real life which makes this that much more creepy. I like how despite his skills and successes as one of the best doctors in town, he's terrible at relationships and finding love, he also doesn't take rejection well at all and lashes out. Which is a deadly combination when you're a doctor and someone's life and fate is in your hands. I thought the tension builds up nicely too. At first I was a bit skeptical as I thought it might be one of those lifetime movies, but I'm glad I was wrong. I recommend it.

Surprise Surprise
kosmasp28 March 2018
Well actually not. If anything the relatively high Imdb score is somewhat of a surprise. The story itself is really not that exciting. A TV movie that helped Eric Roberts out - although I reckon he always finds a job. And he really is a good actor. Even if you may question that statement after watching some of his "spasms" during the movie.

But it's all in good faith and someone has to lower themselves to give this an extra boost. Right now even more might be sensible to something that always should feel like a bad joke. The women do not talk about #metoo but you could apply this to this movie too. There are many cringe worthy moments and overall I don't think anyone needs to see this

Unrealistic
nadshi30 May 2021
Yes, there are have been a Pandora's box plethora of American doctors reported, charged, convicted and stripped of their medical license to practice, after being found guilty of sexually abusing, stalking, harassing, molesting their patients, since the dawn of the hashtag me too movement. But none of them are as traditionally classically high testosterone, jutting chin, tall, broad, handsome as Eric Roberts. The majority are paediatricians, psychiatrists, breast surgeons/sonologists and OB-GYN specialists. Surgeons usually don't face legal repercussions because they often only handle unconscious patients.

A cardiologist is not a cardiac surgeon, cardiologists are often overweight too.

Beautiful actors, but um, hard to digest not credible; sometimes comes off more as a comedy than a horror movie or thriller; preposterous.

Above average for LMFC
bt698nhj14 March 2023
Eric Roberts is a good actor. He's creepy deepy doo in this thriller. Twists and turns and a much better than average LMFC. So good they even made a sequel! No faux pas to report.

About my reviews: I do not offer a synopsis of the film/show -- you can get that anywhere and that does not constitute a meaningful review -- but rather my thoughts and feelings on the film that hopefully will be informative to you in deciding whether to invest 90-180 minutes of your life on it.

My scale: 1-5 decreasing degrees of "terrible", with 5 being "mediocre" 6- OK. Generally held my interest OR had reasonable cast and/or cinematography, might watch it again 7 - Good. My default rating for a movie I liked enough to watch again, but didn't rise to the upper echelons 8- Very Good. Would watch again and recommend to others 9- Outstanding. Would watch over and over; top 10% of my ratings 10 - A Classic. (Less than 2% receive this rating). For Lifetime Movies for Chicks (LMFC), drop the above scale by 3 notches. A 6 is excellent and 7 almost unattainable.

Awful entertainment
nightroses18 June 2021
Its quite good, but at the same time, terrible. A creepy doctor in his 60's has a rage if a young woman turns him down. But it goes too far, and cringe (pass me the sick bag) when he crushes on a girl barely out of school. He's older than her dad! The doctor is a surgeon and also a nutcase. Beware!

Lame storyline, lame actors, lame actresses. Give me a break! Only watched it to see stupid it was.

Someone needs to tell the actress that plays the mother that her eyebrows need work. Eric Roberts needs to retire. This is the worst storyline with zero surprises. Lame lame lame.

Warning: Spoilers
I have to say that Eric Roberts got the best role he has ever had in films, possibly the very best. As the sex obsessed lunatic cardiologist, he turned in a powerhouse performance and had this been a movie shown in theaters, he would definitely be vying for an Oscar nomination as best actor of the year.

Roberts goes from concerned, dedicated and brilliant heart surgeon to a ruthless mad obsessed man who is constantly dejected by women, but of course this comes as no surprise as he comes on quite quickly with women.

This insanity goes over the top when he falls for one young girl patient he saves when she is involved in a car accident with her texting boyfriend.

Her mother is at once suspicious and as Dr. Beck becomes more infatuated with his patient, he becomes more violent by cursing and throwing objects when he is thwarted in his attempts to seduce the girl.

Roberts surely displays a Dr. Jekyll-Mr. Hyde personality to the fullest extent and his obsession leads to total insanity with faking the girl's death by burning a deceased hospital patient in her car with everyone thinking that the young girl is dead, while he has tied her up.

Brilliant acting by Roberts highlights this production.

Bad ending and too TV-ish
DongDiggity4 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The idea of this film is interesting and really scary however it's executed poorly especially the ending. It's also rated too low as you never get the sense that anything bad is going to happen. It gets really tiresome that so many films end with people escaping because let's face it, there was probably no way that would have happened in this film if it wasn't for a really poorly written screenplay.

The title says it all - well done
phd_travel8 January 2016
The wack job of the week is a prominent doctor who obsesses about his teenage patient. If you think about it, it could happen. Even though he is a rich successful doctor he comes off as not quite right so he can't keep a relationship. If you think about it a crazy doctor can get away with quite a lot of stuff and it's revealing to see the things he gets up to.

Eric Roberts is suited to the role as the crazy doctor - hasn't he played every kind of bad guy there is? He seems to be in lots of movies these days and there is nothing wrong especially if he is right for the role. He deserves some kind of collective award for all the baddies he has played. Brianna Joy Chomer as the teenage girl acts well. The reaction of her parents is interesting - the mother is suspicious but the father isn't.

Worth one watch.

Creepy Doctor -- You'll be Screaming But Laughing -- You'll see what I mean
luisriosjr-19 December 2017
Warning: Spoilers
The Doctor is so creepy. If you are looking to invite friends over to watch a creepy movie, this is the movie to watch. The "old man" creeping on "naive pretty teen" is just so creepy that you will be screaming, yelling, and laughing "how gross!" with all your friends. The mall scene where he rubs her finger is just too much to handle. We were all so grossed out that we had to watch Stalked By My Doctor: The Return -- Part II --. All naive young teens should be required to watch this movie.
