I don't understand all the hate against this show
scottw-4782810 December 2016
I find all of this stuff very intriguing and have watched every single episode so far. I'm as skeptical as anyone else and take all of it with a grain of salt. It does appear legit and I myself as well as others are curious about our history being accurate about this subject. At the very least, I am learning allot about WW2 history and just how elusive and evasive the Germans were in their escape from Berlin during WW2.

After reading through the reviews, it appears that people are jumping to conclusions and are not giving the show a chance at all. I believe there are those who hate Hitler so bad that they don't want to believe that someone could have gotten away with what he did and lived happily every after. It's an interesting show and I will continue watching it.

Keep watching before making a conclusion
dano133030 November 2016
Warning: Spoilers
As a World War II history buff, I came to this show with a great deal of skepticism. I've seen every episode that's aired up until 29 November, 2016. I've read several of the posted "User Reviews", many of which were written after only a few episodes of the 1st season. Yes, this is a "Reality Show". These shows intentionally give bits of information during an episode and end it with a "bombshell" in order to entice viewers to continue watching. "Hunting Hitler" certainly uses this formula. However, this show has dug very deep and, using recently declassified documents and thorough investigation, it's building a solid case for the possibility that Hitler actually did escape Germany. The show uses facts to build its "escape" scenario: 1) experts determined in 2009 that the pieces of skull the Soviets had were not Hitler's, as the Soviets claimed. It's actually part of a female skull. 2) It's a proved fact that Hanna Reitsch flew into Berlin on 26 April, 1945, via an improvised airstrip near the Brandenburg Gate (a large road where documents show that streetlights that lined it were cut down shortly before Reitsch's landing) and flew out using the same airstrip on 28 April. Reisch was Germany's most famous test pilot. This documented, factual flight proves that it was possible to fly Hitler out of Berlin. Also, the 1st season showed new information regarding previously unknown tunnels, one of which lead from near Hitler's Undeground Bunker to the Brandenburg Gate. While much of the 1st season covered possible scenarios for Hitler's escape from Berlin and how he could've gotten to South America, the 2nd season is uncovering much more convincing circumstantial and factual evidence that prove the possibility of Hitler's escape isn't just a Conspiracy Theorists' dream. (Spoiler!) Most of these confirm the existence of many high-ranking Nazi officials living in a small village called Missiones in Argentina. Missiones is located within 1-2 miles of a (now crumbling) compound built deep within a thick forest. The solidly constructed buildings, hand-built stone walls and recovered military/personal artifacts certainly point to it being a protective compound, completely surrounded by fortified defenses, for a very high-ranking Nazi official. Also, (BIG SPOILER!), Herman Goering's great-niece lives in Missiones, as well as a man who claims his father was the driver for Martin Bormann. He says his father told him that sometimes he would drive Bormann to the edge of the jungle and Bormann would disappear in the jungle. This review covers the last episode aired ("Eyewitness Accounts", 11/29/16), which presented compelling evidence, including the aforementioned "bombshell" of a supposed picture of Hitler at an elderly age. Of course, it won't be shown until the next episode, but my understanding is that an expert will evaluate the picture and determine its authenticity. Hopefully, you see how this 2nd season has upped the ante in terms getting closer to proving whether Hitler actually did escape. As for those who doubt it because they think Hitler would've continued his quest for world domination, it's possible that, if (a BIG if) he did escape, he didn't have access to the drugs he abused and, therefore, survived the withdrawal, leading to the conclusion that, even as an egomaniac, his reign was over and survival was his only option. I'm still skeptical about the whole thing, but I'm definitely not going to miss another episode!

Format is terrible, content is good.
dossmg13 November 2022
Format sucks. All of the documentary and reality shows use this terrible format of 1 step forward, 2 steps back.

They build up to something then go to a commercial. After the commercial break it's a recap of what you have already seen with all the same scenes and lines building it up to what turns out to be nothing. Then another dramatic event or break through and the cycle starts over stringing you along. If they cut the crap the episode would be less than 30 minutes.

The content and story is great. Interesting and educational.

They present a believable story of how Hitler could have escaped. Lots of questions arise from what they explain in the first episode about Hitlers death and how it was reported. A Russian soldier saw a body under a sheet with blood on it and said that is Hitler.

Very Interesting even if you believe Hitler died in the Berlin Bunker
yitzi28 February 2017
I believe that I am better versed on the history of WWII than most. However I am amazed at the extent of the Nazi network and infrastructure this program has uncovered in South America. The so called Rat Lines in South America that Hitler's high command developed would cost 100's of millions to replicate today. So even if you accept the orthodoxy of Hitler's suicide in Berlin in 1945 this show is still very interesting and well worth watching.

Intriguing !!

Warning: Spoilers
Most people agree that Hitler died in 1945, all the evidence points towards that...except it doesn't!!! Its a fact that the FBI and CIA were very interested in the whereabouts of Hitler after the war. There is no evidence what so ever to prove he died in the Fuhrer bunker in Berlin in 1945. This series follows a trail sparked off by FBI documents released in 2014 relating to their own search for the him. OK ,the guys in the series ham it up a bit, but I'm sure its all part of the production per-requisite. Fascinating and most certainly believable! A ton of high ranking Nazi's escaped to Argentina after the war for a fact, why wouldn't Hitler?? Do you think he'd stay behind until the last hours??? A great watch, even if over dramatized.

Who really knows about the death of Hilter
alienstarship5 January 2017
Mysteries to me are always interesting, did Hitler die or escape, it seems that the information about his death was never proved 100%. If the government Knew or thought with out much doubt that he did die why were they still looking? But this makes for a great mystery research everything don't just take what you have been taught in history books and in school as a lot of what our schools teach is not the truth. The places and names and countries they go to, the people they talk to and even the ones who don't want to talk or are afraid too says something. If one will look up the places where they go and do their own research will find that there are still a lot who agreed with Hitler and would hide him. If one will look up Dignidad/ Villa Baviera Chile which it is known today even today there is a lot that is not right and what had/has went on there has been recent.

Errors........
wood-9681624 February 2018
In Season 3 why do Bob & Neda, or whatever her name is, wear the same clothes on every episode? Why was the anonymous informant "accidentally" revealed sitting at the table when previously he was always pixelated? Hope he sues The History Channel. Why does Bob go see a retired FBI agent who can probably do nothing for him since he is retired? What led to the downfall of the 754 camps in Chile? Surely there must be people willing to talk about them other than the one gentleman who led the team to his internment camp on the coast.

This show a big Lie
rmvanlangeveld8 January 2018
The first part was interessting but at the moment i took Google maps beside it the lies came out and were an eyeopener!! The greatest mistake in my point of view is Season 2 episode 5 at the beginning. A view of a port named Cádiz! But is it no it is Gibraltar Avenue de espana! Next view very short but by holding the recording you see something special that is not in Cádiz! The rock of Gibraltar! Then the next views................Hotel Reina Cristina! In Cádiz? Nope in Taifa Algeciras directly oposite of the Rock! If you like the trueth don't watch this show!

One of the most interesting documentaries I've watched
phrsmith514 April 2017
Warning: Spoilers
I'm a bit puzzled at some of the bad reviews this documentary has had. Either they simple haven't really watched it or not understood the evidence. No they haven't found Hitler but they have shown that it was possible he faked his death and that it was without doubt possible that he could have escaped. I certainly think they provided enough proof that his right hand man Martin Bormann did. My own personal opinion is that Martin Bormann murdered Hitler in the bunker before he escaped because he was a power hungry psychopath and new where all the Nazi plundered treasure was as he over saw the hiding of it. Also Hitler had signed documents putting him in charge if he was killed. What you should also remember is this documentary is not made by a bunch of journalist just having a bit of a fish. These guys are some of the top war crime hunters/investigates in the world. So if they take this seriously so should we.

Way too soon to jump to ANY conclusion...
frstbse22 January 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Yes, I do want less assumption and more skepticism displayed by the investigators. We cannot jump to the conclusion that this show is bogus and that Hitler died in the bunker. By the same token we CANNOT assume that the evidence uncovered is not relevant and totally plausible.

At the very least, what these guys have uncovered in regards to the scope of Nazi escape routes and possible plans for a comeback is amazing, and well worth viewing whether or not the issue of Hitler ever finds a smoking gun and gets resolved one way or the other. I'll never look at Spain the same way again.

Give us another season! I want the investigators to find out why this "Fourth Reich" never materialized - if indeed, that was what was attempted. I can use less of the young guys trying to make themselves into reality stars, and more of the sober, professional investigators who simply want to do right by the evidence.

Ripleys Believe it or not would be a better title.

Warning: Spoilers
UPDATE

Hmm strange how Hunting Hitler can't even do basic research. The secret and isolated compound Colonia Dignidad ("Dignity Colony") was an isolated colony of Germans and Chileans established in post-World War II Chile by emigrant Germans which became infamous for the internment, torture, and murder of dissidents during the military regime of General Augusto Pinochet in the 1970s while under the leadership of German fugitive Paul Schäfer. So I'm sure they would have had fences and guard towers but it doesn't mean Hitler was there. I don't think forgetting the places in history in modern times is hiding history to cover up Hitler being there. Maybe they should have it as a tourist attraction, come see where Pinochet murdered thousands of Chilean students?

True special forces operatives are disciplined, cautious, restrained and not prone to melodramatics but good old Tim doesn't appear to have any of these traits.

The whole envelope of so-call evidence the Hunting Hitler team put forward about Martin Bormann is absolutely laughable.

1. In Season 2, Episode 7 they speak with Eliana Keller alleged adopted daughter of Juan Keller AKA Martin Bormann. In the interview she claims that her father was really worried when he knew about the capture of Adolf Eichmann and that he started to panic.

Also during this episode they show the viewer some evidence found in a government department achives stating that Juan Keller AKA Martin Bormann died in Febuary 1959 of stomach cancer, this was supposedly confirmed by other eye witnesses.

This present some problems.

Adolf Eichmann was captured on 11 May 1960 near his home on Garibaldi Street in San Fernando, Buenos Aires, 20 kilometres north of the centre of Buenos Aires. This is a fact. So Adolf Eichmann was capture over a year after Juan Keller AKA Martin Bormann had died according to this new evidence. So how could Juan Keller AKA Martin Bormann have spoken about Eichmann's capture? Adolf Eichmann's exact location wasn't even know in 1959.

2. They show Eliana Keller photos of Martin Bormann taken prior to 1946 and ask her "is this your father?" in which she replies "yes".

Why didn't they ask her if she had any photos of her father prior to asking her about Martin Bormann? Surely, if he was pretending to be a family man they would have had family photos taken at some point. There was also no mention that the real Martin Bormann was already married with 10 children prior to 1945 and they continued to live in Germany to a ripe old age. These children were never interviewed by the Hunting Hitler team or even get a mention in the plot. She claimed that her father made her speak German, why didn't they ask her to speak in German at some point?

There is another possibility that "someone" was impersonating Martin Bormann in a effort to get something from the German communities in SA which they never explored.

UPDATE

With regards to the so call discovery of a "secret tunnel" in which Hitler made his so-call escape. Well where do I start here? Let's start with the program "Hunting Hitler", the so-call team of expert go into the tunnel system within Templehof Airfield looking for a connection with the subway system. They say they are going to the deepest sections of the tunnels, yet they travel up a flight of stairs and when they are leaving they are going down the stairs, Ok a minor point! When they get to a apparently bricked up section, the FBI guy says "pass me the GPS and I'll get a position fix and we can go up top and see where the end of the tunnel is". Well 2nd lie, because anyone that has used a GPS knows you need line of sight with a number of satellites to get a position fix. Simply put GPS don't work underground.

Then when they use the GPR to look of a entrance in the subway and they get a squiggly line on the monitor they exclaim they have found a hidden tunnel, (Case Closed?) No then they tap on a few ceramic tiles on the wall and get a hollow sound. Gee here is the proof we have found a hidden tunnel Hitler escaped through to get to Argentina.

The world Media is onto this exciting new historical find which will change world history about Hitlers death or escape.

The funny thing is, why didn't someone actually open the entrance to the so- call tunnel and show the world, after all it might have been filled with important relics. Or at the very least put a fibre optic camera or endoscope in to actually confirm it was a tunnel and not just a old cupboard space covered over.

Something else they failed in telling the viewer is that all the subways were used as air raid shelters for the people of Berlin. Also after WW2 and the Berlin Wall there are many escape tunnels from East Berlin, The authorities know of about 1000. There are Gas, water, Sewage, electricity and other utilities all through these areas and get moved about from time to time. No real attempt was made to confirm their statement and conclusively prove it is a escape tunnel or what it actually is, if anything but then again this show is very light on facts that they prove beyond any doubt and full of very slopping expensive television.

Dano1330 states in his review that the show reports "a man who claims his father was the driver for Martin Bormann. He says his father told him that sometimes he would drive Bormann to the edge of the jungle and Bormann would disappear in the jungle."

This just goes to show that this program is lacking real research.

Because two skeletal remains were found on 7 December 1972 near near Lehrter station in West Berlin. The remains of Matin Bormann's were conclusively identified in 1998 when German authorities ordered genetic testing on fragments of the skull of the two bodies found near Lehrter station in West Berlin just 12 m (39 ft) from the spot where Krumnow claimed he had buried them. Upon autopsy, fragments of glass were found in the jaws of both skeletons, suggesting that the men had committed suicide by biting cyanide capsules to avoid capture. Dental records reconstructed from memory in 1945 by Hugo Blaschke identified one skeleton as Bormann's, and damage to the collarbone was consistent with injuries that Bormann's sons reported he had sustained in a riding accident in 1939. Forensic examiners determined that the size of the skeleton and the shape of the skull were identical to Bormann's. Likewise, the second skeleton was deemed to be Stumpfegger's, since it was of similar height to his last known proportions. Composite photographs, where images of the skulls were overlaid on photographs of the men's faces, were completely congruent. Facial reconstruction was undertaken in early 1973 on both skulls to confirm the identities of the bodies. Soon afterwards, the West German government declared Bormann dead. The testing was led by Wolfgang Eisenmenger, Professor of Forensic Science at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich. Tests using DNA from one of Bormann's relatives identified the skull as that of Bormann. Bormann's remains were cremated and his ashes were scattered in the Baltic Sea on 16 August 1999.

Leftbanker-1 I agree with you a hundred percent. Also why did Hitlers most loyal followers, the Goebbels murder their 6 children and commit suicide if they could have escaped with Hitler?

For all those that believe the So call facts from the FBI Files I ask have you gone and read them yourself? They are available for anyone to read online. If you do take the time to read them, you will see that they are letters from the public, many US citizens writing directly to J Edger Hover stating they have information on where Hitler is. If you read the responses from the FBI you will see they were treated as gossip, Chinese whispers. They are not facts as the show makes out.

Amazing show
jhabib-438065 January 2017
I don't understand how people could classify this as a bad show. Thinking that one of the most famous leaders ever could have survived, is astonishing. While most believe Hitler died in 1945, there's little proof... all these outside organizations like the CIA have classified documents on Hitler and his closest allies. They have to be on to something. I don't believe that Hitler had 100 percent survived. On the contrary, I do believe that it was very plausible with all of his connections. I have to believe that it was more likely that he had survived, personally I can't see a deadly leader like him just giving up. Why would a man so wealthy and rich, just kill himself in his bunker while the rest of his high ranking officials flee? So to anyone who thinks this show is bad, rethink it and check it out again, because the evidence they have found...is never before seen and could lead to finding out that Hitler had survived. Overall, why wouldn't these people travel the world, looking for clues to Hitler's existence past 1945 if they have substantial proof. Organizations around the world and these investigators wouldn't go through all this trouble, if they're wasn't a real possibility of Hitler surviving.

A lesson in Investigation
angela-5257 January 2016
Warning: Spoilers
This show is really intriguing for me--I'm a writer. Yes, it may be drawn out more than necessary, but what reality show isn't. I must admit to liking treasure hunts and solving mysteries. I once watched a (was it 3 hours?) show with Geraldo Rivera looking for Al Capone's treasure. That was unbearable! This is very well done. I find it riveting and I can't wait for the next episode. I don't care if they never find Hitler! The odds are minuscule, let's face it. But in the meantime, I'm enjoying the journey, the discovery, the perseverance, ingenuity and the crew's willingness to take risks. The FBI documents they follow are still blacked out in part. It really makes one wonder how much was known about Hitler's whereabouts at the time and whether the FBI may have taken him out.... The fact that there's more than one season shouldn't deter anyone from watching it. I would advise taping it so you can binge watch.

Investigators Who Never Fail to Jump to a Conclusion
leftbanker-123 December 2016
Warning: Spoilers
For all of their breathless proclamations, for all of the money these "investigators" spent on state-of-the-art technology to help them in their pursuit they unearthed not one single shred of evidence that Hitler didn't die in his bunker as we have believed since the end of the war.

While making for decent TV, frantically jumping to conclusions isn't a good tactic for an investigation and these guys love jumping to conclusions on every hint of evidence in their search. These jumps at every turn should exhaust any rational adult. It's like finding toys under your Christmas tree and concluding that Santa brought them by sliding down your chimney. The crew definitely needs a devil's advocate among them, someone to say, "Let's calm down and wait until we have all the evidence we need to make an intelligent assumption?" It's hard to discern if they are all as stupid as they seem or if they are just playing the part of naïve dorks just because it may make better TV than having a skeptic on hand.

Could Hitler have gone on to enjoy a minor career as a dancer at Radio City Music Hall? It's possible and almost impossible to disprove but like all of the speculating in this series, it's not at all likely.

One thing the show does is to throw into some doubt the whole idea that Hitler died in that bunker in 1945…or you could doubt it. The fact that there was no forensic evidence, that the "eyewitness" accounts are dubious or inaccurate, and all of the evidence of a Nazi presence in Argentina don't add up to the conclusion that Hitler somehow made it out of Berlin and slipped into a jungle retreat in South America. Far from it. War is a messy business and the scene of the crime (Hitler's death) was just another spot in the hellish advance of Allied troops in 1945 Germany.

In episode #1 they find a basement in a rural home in Argentina and they immediately speculate that it was some sort of underground bunker which makes no sense. They are literally in the middle of nowhere in Argentina; why would you need an underground shelter? It's pretty obvious that this was a drying and curing cellar for hams.

Stomach medicines are found so, of course, they must have been for Hitler. When shown a drug vial one investigator shrieks, "I can't even believe I'm seeing this!" Dude, get a grip on yourself. Stomach ailments affect just about every adult human over 50 years old.

Episode #2 The skull the Russians have is thought to be that of a female. Could it be Eva Braun? One investigator makes this leap of logic: "That suggest strongly that Hitler was complicit in her death and she dies on the scene and he flees." No, it doesn't. There are an almost infinite amount of explanations: they have the wrong body, the Russians took the wrong bodies, or maybe the Russians screwed up and got the bones mixed up, and so on.

They tried to get a DNA sample from the last living relative of Eva Braun but she refused. A dead end? Just wait for her to get a haircut and then take the hair sample from the floor. Or take her garbage until you come up with something. They gave up on this important step way too easily. This has been the only real lead they have and they gave up so easily it's like they didn't really want to get a sample. I would have cut the person's hair while they weren't looking as the importance to this would completely justify bad behavior on their part. They could have found DNA elements in the trash, for example. They abandoned this one, solid bit of evidence so easily that you have to question everything they are doing.

They make a big deal out of the tunnels in Berlin and wildly speculate on Hitler's ability to escape via this bit of infrastructure. Simply getting out of the bunker and out of the city would have been extremely easy in any sort of vehicle and thousands fled with the advance of the Russians.

"There's no reason to commit suicide knowing the Russians were not going to come down there (in the tunnels). Why would he kill himself?" Because they war was lost. Hitler knew this for months. The Russians were days away from swarming into Berlin and Hitler would have risked capture had he not died.

Episode #4 was spent trying to find a tunnel from the metro to the airport, a distance of a couple hundred meters that they say Hitler needed to make his theoretical escape. He could have walked that distance, or ridden a bike, or he could have been ferried in a rickshaw. Who cares?

This is really bad investigation and even worse journalism. They spend all their time trying to decide if one of their crazy theories could have happened: could a German u-boat have landed in Argentina, could Hitler have escaped Berlin, and a dozen other silly notions. With every episode my rating is lowered.

…to be continued

Finally the Truth Comes Out!
cpuaggie5 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Excellent and interesting series! I like how thorough they are and how they test different theories and determine what most likely happened based on the evidence. Hitler absolutely did not commit suicide and the lack of evidence to confirm he did never existed. Even Russia admitted the remains they found were not Hitler's and DNA testing proved the remains are that of a female in her early 30's. Not Hitler. My grandfather who fought in WWII always swore that he was part of the detachment that chased after Hitler. It's awesome that the truth is finally coming-out and written history has been corrected.

I enjoy the series
espy-0165925 November 2020
The series is very good. I was trying to see Hunting Hittler the Final Chapter which was supposed to be the last show but 2 hours long. I tried to see it on November 18 and history channel and it said 2 hours of duration the next day the history channel removed the program. It doesn't matter where you look for the information the history channel says exactly that it is a 2 hour show I looked for it on November 24 the channel added it the show again but with less time now instead of saying 2 hours of duration now it says 1 hour and 16 minutes.

What If
jiatwll12 November 2021
I really liked this series if for no other reason it plays a great "what if" with Hitler and weather he could have escaped. What we learn that most don't know is that the Nazi's had a lot of tennicles reaching other countries with lots of infastructure to protect them. Generally this is not something you learn in history so it was interesting to see. The amount of money they spent to disperse themselves is frightening when you consider what could have happened if they had won!

Hitler Lives!
edchin200611 February 2016
I like the logic of the series. Since nobody can prove that Hitler died - ergo he lives. I think he is living in plain sight. I'm sure I just saw him in New York City - it was fleeting, but the damned subway was so crowded. Just because there aren't many 126yr old Nazi's doesn't mean he isn't out there alive and kicking! His birthday is coming up soon - we might find him at a beer hall party! I would not be surprised if he were hiding in München where the famous attempted Putsch occurred. Who would ever think of looking for him there? With his characteristic looks, he could easily pass for those street impersonators who try to get tourists to pose with them for a few Euro's.

Starts great but becomes assuming & illogical
graham-harvey21 December 2020
What a great topic to explore & so we should. So many Nazis made it to South America including famous ones, why not Hitler too. Some excellent explorations in Series 1 & some of the places found raise serious questions about who was being helped in South America. But there are lots of assumptions & gung ho American talk that really is a turn off. How many times do we hear ' If I was Hitler, I would definitely have done that!' ? its just annoying. Do your own research. Certainly need to see dna analysis of who was burned at the bunker & I am sure this can be done. Very serious questions about collusion of Catholic Church to some degree, but more so all the fascist allies like Franco Spain & Peron Argentina. But why stop there? And this talking like the US is not implicated is bizarre. It suited the US to take Nazis to the US because they wanted their skills. In Chile it looks like Nazis were complicit in the Pinochet fascist coup of 1973 but its always been argued that the whole situation was engineered by US CIA as have other dictatorships throughout South America. So therefore these dictatorships protecting Nazis while also being in alliance with US CIA suppressing anything vaguely left wing. Anti Communist. Anti trade unions, human rights, conservative. That's been the US agenda to keep South America under control & supplying cheap labour, resources & high profits for US industry operating in Latin America. There's more to explore. If The CIA had wanted to take down Nazis they could have. And almost no contact or reference to Israel, Mossad or Simon Wiesenthal throughout all the seasons. Why not? They were doing more hunting for the first 50 years than any other group.

Fascinating and frustrating
roger-5587216 January 2017
Warning: Spoilers
I've watched every episode. I am hooked but there are some moments that I find irritating, like when the investigators in the field seem to have their minds blown by 'less than hard evidence'. Its all very canned. Everyone is always shocked and aghast at virtually every moment, no matter how objectively trivial. Its obviously largely scripted and planned out in advance.

Its clearly based on the book by the guy that wears the scarf every time. You get the sense that many of the people they 'run into' are paid to be there or notified prior to it. Like Borman's 'daughter' who just happened to be dressed like she was going to an interview, fire going in the background of her living room. Make up on. They didn't just turn up. It was planned.

90% of the time they take whatever someone says as a 'breaking point in the investigation' get super excited and say something like 'this could be a major turning point in the investigation'. They've said that about 40 times already.

It's dramatic and draws you in but its annoying because its very predictable. Even when they turned up to the Nazis cult camp and the guy was so surprised to see that its a tourist resort. Really? They didn't Google it before they left? Give me a break producers! So there is that stage managed stuff clearly present but at the same time is fascinating to see and learn about the history of it. Its a compelling story regardless of whether Hitler left Germany and extremely well funded judging by how many countries they visit in each episode. They have showcased some interesting discoveries, some of which probably weren't planned, per say, but rather additional to what they went to film. That's how I see it.

So at worst its a very interesting documentation of things we had heard about (Argentina etc) but hadn't seen yet on film in this close and upfront way. Like I said I'm hooked but I'd prefer it if they toned down the stagecraft.

It is really an adventurous comedy!
h-christen7 January 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I saw this as a comedy, I laughed so much, so I give this a rating of seven...

I like computer adventure games, but some of them are still better than this one. They go into a forest and "suddenly" find a ruined building, wow, this must be a Nazi hideout. They find "hidden" metal doors, that nobody before them found! But they don't have to look for the key. They find "hidden" passages near the bunker, with almost unknown advanced tools like: The knock of the finger on the wall, like John Cleese... And then they find an entrance, which is known already to everybody. Hilarious! Wow, do you see this! This must be it! All accompanied by bombastic hitting heavy drums, and dramatic music, making it almost impossible to understand what they are saying... Everything they find is immediately proof of something.

And they have an incredible team of experts, experts who constantly look and nod if they just have heard, from our main Hero, about the invention of the wheel...

And we have the muscle man, who can swim, climb, crawl, dive everywhere, like he has just been recruited from Hawaii five-O...

Oh man, I enjoyed it! But not how they meant it to be I suppose...

Interesting topic, but weak show.

This is why there is 'hate' on this show...

The topic is very interesting and very plausible. The problem is that it could have been covered in half the time or less. Why rehash all the info you just told me when you return from commercial....ugh. And can it be any more sensationalized? Just cover the story. And the cast of characters think they are going for an academy award. Borderline annnoying.

Good background noise while possibly learning something. ;)

Just plain fun

This is what TV is supposed to be. Interesting and fun. Did Hitler die in the bunker? Who cares! I'm seeing exotic locations and watching modern day Sherlock Holmes types run around and dive under ice. (Tim Kennedy is crazy!)

Ok entertainment...

...but seriously, this has to stop! We are messing with history here and this is just going too far out. Lot of allegations and assumptions but very little proof. Just a mad man and his obsession. Still entertaining though and funny at times.

History for those who can add 2+2 together, and get 22 every time!
Lammasuswatch22 April 2019
As I persisted with the interminable episodes of what turned out to be the first series of this tripe, I marvelled how the makers could possibly pad it out to 8 episodes. And when I finally got to the 8th episode, I looked up imdb, and found there were another two series of it!!

The show is little short of amazing. Mainly at the ability of the team of "investigators" and ex-navy seals (or whatever) led by ex-CIA man Bob Baer to come up with hypotheses out of dubious initial evidence, and arrange expensive trips for the teams to places across various continents, visiting Berlin, Argentina, Spain, the Canary Islands and so on. Wherever they end up they obtain side-scan sonar, ground-penetrating radar and other expensive equipment, and then somehow always manage to time their efforts to have them need to end prematurely - because it's "too late in the year" (with weather conditions deteriorating), or "too late in the day" (with light fading), or "they only have official permission" to be there one afternoon. And so on.

And then the attempt is just abandoned. (Just in time too! Before any real evidence is actually found to scotch whatever it is they're trying to find or prove in that particular sequence. And I am profoundly disturbed that any of these people could ever have worked for law enforcement, journalism or any intelligence services too.)

Yet each subsequent failure to prove anything much at all just adds to their ever-increasing conviction in each mini-hypothesis, and thus the grand theory of life, the universe and everything. To objective viewers absolutely no connection to credible evidence linking Hitler with any of these places is ever established. But to the makers and actors (you can only call them that) of this series, it's always incontrovertible proof and it just encourages them to go on.

Which apparently they do after this series, for another 16 episodes! (Without me, though. I couldn't "Baer" to watch any more of it!)

What will this show prove to the viewer? Nothing much about Hitler.

But you will gain a lot of insight into the psychology of how elements of the CIA and the Bush Administration could manage to psyche themselves into being convinced that Saddam Hussein was building an arsenal of WMDs before the Iraq War, and then to want to convince the public of this. Or real insight into just what a crock the so-called "History Channel" is!
