Reality is the best fiction
Mun7eanu22 November 2018
Two hours and a half passed very quickly. This if you don't follow the action, but the changes in characters mind. Maybe the most powerful Romanian film made after "After hills". There is a resemblance with Zvyagintsev "Loveless" but goes dipper. Untill the mind blowing final scene, the film is very quiet, despite the tragic situation. In thos quite there is an inner scream that the main character exposes extraordinary. If you want to see the decomposition of a man through pain, watch it.

Painfull but real

Yes, film is depresing, but It has to be like this... how one can feel having no idea where his child is. The biggest pain a parent can have! You can feel their pain. Movie is two hours and a half long, but you realised it only after the ending.

Fantastic but too long
illavealf21 May 2019
That's it. Watch it, it's a good drama but only if you're really patient and have your phone at the ready and playing a match 3 game. Really didnt need to be 2.5 hours. Excruciating long camera pauses and boringdepictions of... nothing. It feels like an extended cut. I agree it is mood setting however i believe the "lull" scenes could have been more interesting to the viewer. A fantastic ending too but they could have given us a little more certainty since we just invested 2.5 h.

Insufficient value

Warning: Spoilers
Pros:
  • nice portrayal of the way in which lack of awareness and attention creates catastrophes (including the scene where Maria disappeared, when there were two overlapping dialogues, possibly making even the viewer distracted);
  • fairly decent intrigue.

Cons:
  • not very realistic (they searched too little and too shallow, they thought too late of things that normally come to mind first, they met with friends after losing a child, the main character postponed too much the investigation of a person stalking children in the park etc.);
  • it completely lacked intelligence manifested from the characters (it was all a vortex of instinctual impulses and low-tier emotion, which eventually caused a very expected outcome;
  • the main character did not become anything, he only decayed in a primitive and expected way; his wife left him, he lost a child and he was overwhelmed with guilt, continuously building up anger and despair. He animated his anger by acting impulsively (which is very mechanical and simple, the most common domino effect) and unintelligently (destroying the possibility of finding Maria through his only lead);
  • unnecessary gore scene at the end.

Painful
E-Z-Rider10 May 2018
Aside from the wholly unintelligible title (and, yes, I am fluent in Romanian), the film is depressing and way too long. Every scene is drawn out to interminable lengths, as the camera lingers on unnecessary details. I get it that the director was trying to establish a mood, but it comes at the cost of making the viewer impatient for something to happen. Something eventually does happen but it's not worth the pain of getting there.

The acting is good; the principal actor, Bogdan Dumitrache, is very good. The dialogue is credible. The production values are good. One just wishes this had been brought to a close in 90 minutes rather than 152.

Ignoring the fact the whole plot is predictible, the movie is too long! +2 hours
romeo_c1226 January 2020
Too many dead scenes, where nothing happens. They went to the park, let the camera roll and bam! "I got you, bro, at least 5 minutes of footage".

Otherwise actors were quite ok. But I wouldn't recommend watching this movie. Maybe if you skip the dead scenes with fast forward, the movie will get bearable, and you'll save yourself 1,5 hours.

Psychological Drama? Not!
ramonateodora-talpos12 July 2019
To build a character is more than long fixed shoting. Yes, it takes effort to come up with a script that contributes to psychological build up. This is another example of Romanian cinematography that lacks imagination and technical craft. Actors play well, but they cannot save the entire production.

A very long and depressing movie. In my opinion it doesn't worth to lose your time with this movie.
