Slow paced, but beautifully told story...

I sat down to watch the 2015 South Korean movie "Go-yang-i jang-rye-sik" (aka "Cat Funeral") here in 2021, as I had the opportunity to watch this romantic drama from writer and director Jong-Hoon Lee.

Sure, I hadn't even heard about the movie before now in 2021, as I watched it, nor had I ever read the webtoon it apparently is based on. But it being an Asian movie that I hadn't already seen, was more than sufficient to make me want to watch it.

And I will say that "Cat Funeral" turned out to be a nice movie. It was a storyline that was a bit slow paced and with little happening actually, so it might not be a movie that just easily appeals to just anyone. But I liked the storyline, because it really went into depths with the characters and their relationship.

"Cat Funeral" has a great cast ensemble, though it was mostly just Kang In (playing Dong-Hoon) and Park Se-young (playing Jaa-hee) that were on the screen. And they did perform quite well. And it is always a treat to see Kang In starring in movies, because he is a good actor and rather talented.

"Cat Funeral" could have benefitted from a bit more meat on the bone, so to speak. By that I mean that the storyline was a bit too thin stretched. If writer and director Jong-Hoon Lee had opted for a bit more up-speed pacing of the storyline and put in a bit more of excitement in the storyline, then "Cat Funeral" would have proven all the more entertaining and effective.

All in all then "Cat Funeral" turned out to be a slightly emotional movie, and it was something that I actually enjoyed. As such, then I am rating "Cat Funeral" a six out of ten stars.

Good Enough

What I liked about this movie was the concept. It was a clever idea to present an old love story between two people through their last meeting to have a funeral for their pet cat. However, there were some things that prevented this movie to become good.

First of all, the couple didn't have chemistry. I am not talking about their dynamics at the present time, but even when they were a couple they didn't seem like they were a couple, rather, that they were forcing it.

Also, the whole movie was boring. The performances were good, but everything that kept happening were more superficially presented.

So, overall, five out of ten.
