Bojack underwhater
jumaos30 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The tough part was that, Bojack needed to believe that he was better than others. Even if he wasent. He needed to believe it, so he can start swiming where the bubbles go when it sees them.

Got depressed.

Mixes Comedy and Tragedy Seamlessly

Warning: Spoilers
This episode is hilarious, yet quietly heartbreaking. In fact, it's the saddest episode in the show since "Escape from L.A." (even if the season three finale will go on to shatter the record).

When I found out Bojack was indeed nominated for an Oscar, my heart jumped. Here's a guy who's been through more than anyone should have to go through, all to accomplish this one goal, and he's sacrificed everything in his path. He's worked harder at this than anything else in his life. Thank God it wasn't all for nothing.

When I found out it was a slip-up, and Bojack was not nominated after all, my heart fell. Here's a guy who's been through more than anyone should have to go through, all to accomplish this one goal, and he's sacrificed everything in his path. He's worked harder at this than anything else in his life.

And it was all for nothing. He wasn't even nominated. If there's one thing this show knows how to do, it's end an episode. And the ending of this one was heart-breaking. You want so badly for Bojack to beat the odds, and for twenty minutes, you think he did. But much like "Horsin' Around" made you worried for 20 minutes, but always ended well, "It's You" made you happy for 20 minutes, and ended with a slap in the face.

This is what television should always look like.

Aaron Paul was amazing!

I guess sometimes you struggle to see what truely matters in life until you have lost it!

In this episode we see a BoJack who thinks he has achieved that one thing that will make him happy, and then descides to host an insane party! By this point he has pushed everyone away in his pursuit of happyness and succes... when in reality he might have lost what truely made him happy!

Aaron Paul delivered and incredible performance near the end, when he confronts BoJack about his behaviour! It was an emotional monologue as BoJack was forced to face his own behaviour!

Sometimes when you are selfdestructive.. you take it out on others!

Diane also managed to sum everything up when she said everyone's only think about themselves!

"Its YOU BoJack!"

Memorable episode with great visuals

The Oscar nominations are finally announced.

I think this is a strong episode that entertains with a crazy plot showing BoJack spiralling out of control in a situation. Importantly, it keeps a sense of impending dread as events unfold towards another bleak reflective moment for the character.

For me the humour is solid, particularly in the scenes involving Todd and Mr Peanutbutter. The darker character moments hit hard, particularly BoJack's dialogue exchanges with Diane and Todd.

Visually it is one of the strongest episodes. The party scenes are very well done and I loved the scene with the runaway envelope.

A strong main plot that depends on dumbing down the other plots
tarozatea19 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
"It's You" succeeds in progressing the main plot about the titular character, and Princess Carolyn's, but shows flaws with the remaining main cast's stories.

The episode's biggest problem, as often in "BoJack Horseman", is the character of Diane Nguyen - I just simply can't really figure out how the audience is "supposed" to feel for her right now. Is she the audience manifested as a character, asking the bizarre remaining cast the questions we have (as seen in "Brrap Brrap Pew Pew"), or is she just a female version of BoJack with constant one-liners about how flawed society is? And those remarks-- are we supposed to laugh at them, be amazed by their intelligence, or simply feel like we're getting to know Diane through her words...? Because they are very seldom funny, and the water at the restaurant scene is one of the unfunniest and confusing scenes I've seen in this show.

With that said, "It's You" does indeed succeed with its main plot about BoJack. The episode sees BoJack unexpectedly failing in even getting nominated for an Oscar, and that leading to Todd Chavez finally giving him a reality check and breaking himself free from just being "the stoner character who's too dumb to care about how people treat him" type.

This episode where everything changed!
brandmullins21 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I want to make a point that bojack did not deserve to be self punished. He should be better like he was before the rock opera. After the rock opera, he was depressed, desperate and needy and needed to be better. Before then, he was serious. Still, its not fair for Todd to move out when he should be there for him Because Todd could get him in shape. Diane depises bojack for the whole 2nd half of the series. But she should be there when he needed her. Everybody except Mr peanut butter left and now hate him.
