I've got to hand it to the show. There's been more heartbreak in Season 3 than ever before. And this episode is no exception. It's been a while since Bojack was doing any new work (more than a season, in fact), and it's refreshing to see him try. The episode explored actor/moviestar status.
It picks up the mess left behind by the previous episode and capitalizes on what it can, and it does a spectacular job at it.
The episode is really about a battle between two companies more than anything else. The show has never done that, or anything like it, for that matter, before, and it was a good test. Can "Bojack Horseman" pull off what "House of Cards" does so well, a battle of closed doors?
Yes! It absolutely can! That's what makes this episode so good. If the writers couldn't pull that off, this episode would be a disaster. But they could, and it wasn't, and thank god for that.
The other focus of the episode was Mr. Peanut Butter's brother, Cpt. Peanut Butter. This aspect of the episode provided beautiful clarity on everything going on in Mr. Peanut Butter's deceptively happy life.
